"Is he going to run or fight or am I lucky today and he's just going to roll over for me?" Jack questioned his most recent employer, a shorter human man but with a thick build. The man, who asked to be called "Boss" and nothing more was wearing simple working class clothes, rough and patchwork. However on his hip lay a short-sword, he obviously wanted to be taken seriously. His face was hard and worn, a common thing in Sunberth, his eyes were calm though. A very tiny smile was on the man's lips as the thought of this job was in his mind, it amused him. This man was a small time merchant but he'd made a shady deal for a little extra cash on the side. Jack had learned of this from a simple flier at the establishment, which he'd quickly torn down to make sure there was no competition.

"Judging by that scythe you got there and the glare you've been giving me this whole time he'll run or roll over." Boss said after a short chuckle. He pulled out a small map detailing an area near the main entrance to the city and showed it to Jack. Boss pointed to an alleyway and spoke, "You'll find him here 30 chimes after the 19th bell, he'll probably be spooked from rumors, he's not from around here. He's here for some rare ingredients from the waters of Sunberth. Fact is we aren't letting him have any, nor do we even have any to begin with. He's bringing a fair share of Mizas to pay with, but of course he won't be needing those anymore. Bring me all he has and I'll make sure you're rewarded handsomely." Boss laughed again at his words

Jack wore his usual clothes, almost the same as Boss's, but he also wore a dark cloak. agaisnt his back lay his scythe, the name "Talas" scartched into the thick blade, other than the name the scythe was unremarkable. Still it was an intimidating weapon in conjunction with his cloak and quiet demeanor. His face was ever solid through Boss's laughter, "And what would you have me do with him afterwards?" He questioned. Boss's face went straight as he put the map away. A hand lay on the hilt of the shortsword,

"Why do what you want of course."

[Job Thread] A Sour Deal

Jack leaned against a dusty wall in the alleyway as he waited for his target, his scythe laying next to him. It was getting darker and darker out, he was beginning to doubt this man would show up. In the meantime he debated what to do with the man after he had robbed him. Maybe rough him up a little... maybe a lot, the more and more Jack thought about it the more enticing it became. Scare the living daylights out of him, kick him around, beat him, it all sounded so nice. Jack shook his head, clearing his thoughts, he'd leave that decision for when the time came. These thoughts only worried him slightly, it's not as if there'd be any real consequences right?

Jack looked up and down the alleyway, again checking for anyone. This time he stopped, a dark figure stood at the end. Jack watched closely as the man walked towards him, unable to spot any weapons he moved to the center of the alleyway and faced the man. As he approached he became more visible, much cleaner clothes, not overly shiny or bright but much cleaner than your average Sunberth citizen's. He was clean shaven with short brown hair on his head. Jack hid the scorn on his face, he didn't know this man but he didn't take kindly to him already. The man walked up to Jack, definitely not from around here, he wasn't cautious enough, "I'm filling in for the Boss, he's got other business to do right now." Jack grunted out.

The man sighed, "Very well, show me the items I've been promised." He spoke with a slightly condescending tone. Jack moved to the wall next to his scythe, and began pretending to wriggle piece of the wall, "What are you doing?" The man questioned him.

"I'm getting the items, nobody in Sunberth would just leave them out in the open, there's a hidden box here." He grumbled back at the man.

The better dressed man moved closer to try and look at Jack's hands, to see where this box was. Jack used this chance to do what he came here to do, as he heard the man step closer he glanced at him and his hand shot out, snapping around his throat. The man yanked back as a reaction, but Jack solidified his grip by slamming the other hand into his throat as well. Scrabbling to tear Jack's hands off the man fought, but Jack clearly overpowered him. Jack slammed him into the wall and drove a knee into his gut. He tried to yell but the hands around his neck were too tight. Jack removed a hand from his throat and slammed it into the man's nose, eh then released the other and the victim fell to the ground grasping at his throat, "Hand over the Mizas." Jack said, his breathing barely effected.

Giving him a slight break, Jack snatched up his scythe and stood over the man, now with his back against the wall. He now glared up at Jack, blood dripping from his nose, he tried to talk but was overcome by a coughing fit. He began to catch his breath, wiping his mouth he tried to speak again, "And why would I give them to you?" He said scornfully to Jack.

Jack glared down at him but did not reply, instead he slammed the butt of his scythe across the man's face, not hard enough to break anything major but still very painful. He grunted and groaned with every strike, his nose bending more and more. Again and again he did this back and forth until the man yelled, "Ok, ok stop! I'll give you the Mizas!" Jack waited as the man, with shaky hands reached into his pocket and pulled out a small sack full of Mizas and tossed it at Jack's feet.

Looking down at the bag and then at the man, Jack leaned down and grabbed the man by his shirt with one hand. Jack dragged him up on his now wobbly legs, turned him down the alley and shoved him forwards. The man stumbled forward, his face coated in blood and his nose horribly broken he fell flat on his face again. Jack casually walked up behind him and leaned down, grabbing his hair and yanking his head up, "You lied to me." Jack growled. He ruffled through the mans pockets to find yet another small bag and pocketed it himself. Jack flipped his scythe in his hand so that the sharp end of the blade faced up wards he slid it under the man's throat, careful not to cut and stood up.

Still holding the handle so that the blade rested under the man's exposed neck, Jack lightly placed his foot on the back of the man's head, "Please no, please." Begged the man on the ground, realizing what was happening.

The words of Boss echoed in jack's head, those thoughts before the man arrived did the same. A slight crooked smile dashed across his features, "Do what you want." Jack stated before slamming his foot down hard.

Jack returned to where he had met Boss, at the same time as before. He carried the two bags of Mizas from the previous night. Some men would have been haunted by what Jack did, but he slept like a baby that night, it was all in a days work. His scythe was once again clean but there was clear stains on his clothing, he didn't mind. Boss stood waiting for him, a smile on the short man's face, "I assume everything went well?" He questioned Jack.

"Of course, I have the Mizas here." Jack responded while handing over the two bags. Boss quickly took them and emptied them into his hands, Mizas tumbled into his hands and a satisfied look controlled his face. He quickly sorted out Jack's cut and handed it to him, "A good pay for a job... well done, I appreciate the help." said Boss

Jack dumped the Mizas into his pocket and made sure his scythe was hitched properly. He looked back down at Boss and spoke, "Just to make sure you're aware of this, nobody will be seeing that man again, at least not in living condition." Boss was not at all shocked by Jack, he had said for Jack to do what he saw fit. He simply nodded, turned and began walking down the path, Jack did the same going his own way. Once again he headed for The Establishment for another job, he needed to make a living after all and one job wasn't enough.
