Laviku's Gnosis

How likely is Laviku to remove his gnosis? Would he be more likely to remove it or to transform it into a curse mark? Under what circumstances would he see it fit to remove the mark of gnosis?

Um, to be honest, I'm not entirely sure if there is a specific answer to your question. I think that the likely hood of him changing the mark or removing it would depend on what the bearer was doing. I don't think there is any sort of 'scale' to tell what is appropriate or not, because of all the variety of things that the PC can do.

For instance, if your god or goddess was against thieft, then they may remove the mark on one circumstance, but in another, in which you steal, you might not?

I don't know. Did that make any sense?

I have no idea how this works, but I'm going to keep an eye on this thread because I want to write a scene where this happens.

Laviku removes Uncle Pondar's (Quint's uncle, a full Svefra) Gnosis in a flashback I have yet to write, as I think it will require Help Desk permission and a moderator to play Laviku. But I think it will be interesting. Well, it sounds interesting and exciting to me in my own head. He does it while Pondar is submerged pretty deeply. Hilarity ensues!

I'll tackle it after NaNo, so I can grab a moderator to handle the Laviku part, and to make sure I'm not writing anything that goes against how Mizahar does brands and marks.

My theory--- and I am probably completely wrong-- is that you get a Gnosis for being obedient and faithful and worshipful and pious, or some combination thereof, or for being of a favored race. Therefore, theoretically, Edreina would lose her Gnosis if she were somehow to be turned into a Pycon or a Xith as she'd no longer be Svefra. Also if she started worshiping Leo's Fire God and talking about how she hated the water and that she felt that water-powers were lame and that everyone should always live on land, always, she might lose her Gnosis or get it turned into a negative curse mark.

It's a bit tricky to talk about Laviku, though, as his write-up specifically mentions that he likes worship and having prayers and sacrifices made to him, so a pious person screwing up a prayer or sacrifice could theoretically have their gnosis fade or be downgraded a rank.

I'll probably look back at this post in 3 or 4 months and laugh at how wrong and off-base I was.

I don't think a god would remove your gnosis if you (somehow) changed race. As long as you were still faithful, anyway. Because marks aren't exclusive to a certain race, they're just easier to get for that race because they are the chosen people, and the god likes to keep track of their chosen people

But as has been mentioned, it probably depends on the god, and myriad other circumstances, and really, a founder is the only person who has final knowledge of how a god would react

Why would Laviku remove a mark on a person that is an utter disappointment when he can just feed them to his fishes rather than admit he made a mistake?

Think like a God folks. Most aren't tolerant or forgiving.

I was thinking of Metutu, the God of Weenies. Thank the gods he died in the Valterrian. You should have seen his Gnosis.

I'm glad I was wrong about Laviku, and that makes me like Mizahar even more. It's challenging and complicated and has many facets that defy apprehension and comprehension. That keeps me humble, and it keeps me appreciative. These are good things for me to be. :thumbsup:
