55th of Fall, 513 AV
Anna sat cross-legged in her little spot in the bowels of the Saga Shooter, her breathing controlled and steady. She was preparing to undertake a task she had put off for far too long, the learning of a relatively basic skill as far as magic went. Really she should have done this while in Zeltiva, however it hadn't seemed right to do so as she had possessed a number of affairs she'd needed to get in in order before leaving. So there had been literally no time to try and learn how to Shield. Luckily she had plenty of time to make up for that and more, especially true because the wizard knew a bit about how to actually trigger Shielding initially.
Ricky Maze had been so kind as to provide information as to how to properly Shield, the feelings of protective emotions. Anna knew that the mechanics behind it likely involved transferring Djed in a certain form over an object, at least that was the theory she had gained from watching him Shield a piece of parchment. Anna grinned slightly as she remembered destroying the weak thing with barely any effort on her part, just a sign of how very powerful she was growing. It wouldn't be long until none would be able to match her power, soon the inner secrets of the Arcane would be hers.
First things first though, to actually activate the power required focus on a singular concept. Anna held a single golden Miza in her hands, ready to be the subject of her shielding attempt. She continued to cycle her breathing, focusing her emotions into a singular state and searching for a particularly strong protective urge. The answer of course led her to her parent's deaths, stolen from her by Vayt. Velia had held her so tightly when tears had streaked down her face, Anna had returned the embrace.
Ironically enough she had felt protective of her friend more than ever at that moment, she was all Anna had left. She'd made a silent vow to keep Velia safe, believing her reimancy to be a match for any that would dare to try and harm her friend. Of course, then the sick truth was that Anna herself was the one to break the vow by shattering her friend's dreams. Still the feeling had been real and that was what Anna focused upon, the desire to protect that which had once been precious to her.
She focused the feeling on the Miza, feeling her Djed fluctuate as she did. Anna focused on the Djed next, willing it to move towards her hands as directed by the emotion. The wizard could feel something coming and was thus very disappointed when translucent fluid exited her hands through her pores. Yet another instance when she had gotten her wires crossed, another annoyance.
The wizard sighed and drew the res back inside of her, feeling the slight drain it had caused upon her Djed be relieved. With this accomplished she focused upon the feeling once more, trying to get this right. Reimancy was an extremely powerful destructive force, occasionally it could be used for defensive needs but it was a very offense oriented magic. Voiding was purely destructive, consuming all that it could into an empty black nothingness.
Shielding was really her first attempt at a non-offensive personal magic. It was thus more difficult because her goal here was to create rather than to destroy. Destruction was easy, Anna could wave her hand and generate enough power to destroy a house. Creation took a bit more patience as the young wizard was quickly learning.
The emotion became more concrete and controlled, focused once more towards the single Miza in her hands. Again she moved Djed beneath her hands, willing it outwards with the goal of creation rather than destruction. Protection, to make something safe from harm.
Thin strands of pure Djed snaked out from her hands and wrapped around the Miza, sheathing it in a glowing purple sheen. The young wizard felt triumph resound through her mind, which immediately caused her to lose focus and the strands to simply shatter. Anna's emotions did a complete 180, going from pleased and triumphant to angry and highly displeased.
She glared at the partially shielded Miza, which shimmered in her fingers for a moment before dying down. After a few ticks of glaring at the inanimate object the wizard sighed in disgust and decided to try again, the drain upon her noticeable for the relatively simple appearing action. This was likely going to take a little while.
