Celeste was surprised at his immediate assent. She listened quietly, taking stock of the man. Ronas was as dry as a pail full of sand, but he was direct. He spoke like a soldier, speaking of control and efficiency. Perhaps he was a reflection of his Master, Eli Brent. Would a man like him respond to emotional stimulus like failure or regret? This, she quietly wished to see. She wanted to see the stoic man undone, much in the way a child wished to tear down a pile of blocks. Such flawless construction must have a weakness somewhere.

As they crossed over into her domain, he pledged his obedience. Now that was unexpected, albeit logical. Didn’t he feel shame at obeying a little girl? Perhaps not. Celeste realized with a start that he likely didn’t perceive her that way. She was a fellow initiate and also, a mage. What looked like a girl on the outside was in reality, a soldier too. This thought heartened her a bit. It felt good to be taken seriously. She grinned at the man. ”Just don’t expect me to do the same,” she replied finally, breaking the silence between them.

The howl that pierced the air grew her smile larger. It was Riyanna; that she was aware of immediately. The white wolf that emerged on the horizon only confirmed this. She must’ve picked up on her scent. Celeste grinned as she shifted back into her human form. Would Ronas react to the supple, naked form of her Master? Whereas she was still shaped like a twig, Riyanna was a real woman, all breasts and hips with tightly muscled spaces in between.

Celeste rolled her eyes. ”He’s another initiate from the Bloodhills,” she replied. ”And friend is a strong word.” She grinned, uncertain if the Warden had been jesting or serious. It was to be expected that she’d have a great indifference to just who the girl spent her time with – so long as they were alive. Her Master was more akin to a big sister or a guardian than say, a mother or a friend.

She squealed as Riyanna wrapped her up in an embrace, circling her arms around the woman’s. ”We’re off to see Gresshal. He has a task for us to kill a Gramble for five hundred miza. Do you have any advice?” She smiled. It must look incredibly odd to Ronas, seeing a master and apprentice with such a close relationship.
