OLD [Syliras' OOC Thread] The Calm within the Storm

I had a wee question or couple of questions about ownership in Syliras. I understand that the Knights own all of the premises so when a homeowner or, more importantly, a shopkeeper dies can they pass their shop/home down to their children? If the Knights do come and reposes a shop or whatever after someone dies what about the goods that the shop had in stock? Can they get passed down or would they be repossessed too? And finally if someone has no heir apparent (if that's the saying - I just meant living relative) do their possessions just get taken by the Knights or can they be given to say a friend or something perhaps because of a will (is such a thing as a will even recognized within Syliras?) or dying request?

One last question; do those other questions make any sense at all?

The way it was set up for me was that Eanos effectively works for the Knights, so they technically own all of the shop and the stock. This works because it means that they have all of the capital outlay whilst allowing Eanos a free hand to pretty much whatever he wants. I would assume that they audit his books just to make sure all is OK. I can't see why the Knights wouldn't honour a passing down because children who've worked in the shop are going to be the most logical choice as the next 'owners' plus it gives them an incentive to work hard before they inherit just to make sure.

Hey all, just a note here. The Knights on the NPC list are there to be used, but they WON'T train your PC to fight unless you're in the Order. It doesn't make any sense at all for a Knight to train a civilian in the ways of the Order's combat style. It just doesn't happen. This is why I made the fighter's Pit and placed an NPC there who can train your PCs. And yes, you have to pay him to train you, no freebies. The Knights and Squires get free training because they are in the Order. If you're PC isn't then they won't train you PERIOD

Hail Syliras! I'm loving the thoughts and ideas that are being posted in "The Nine" This was just a little something I thought would be fun, but it's gotten more attention than I had expected! Both the Kelvic page and the Drykas are tied in votes at the moment,( yes vs no) but one side has to win, and which ever one that does there WILL be IC plot from it. So get out there and voice your opinion!

Also, you all can look forward to move of these in the future. Syliras' political side isn't as bland as many think..and we're all about to see more.

I hate to do this but I'm afraid I'm going to have to retire my characters. Life is just far too busy for me now to focus on Mizahar, and I've had people waiting with Alasdair and even longer with Arundel. Maybe I'll be back sometime when things settle down, but working two jobs and with my next semester starting up I just can't swing it anymore. I'm sorry to leave some people hanging mid-thread and Radiant during our moderated thread (which was so great of you to run for me I feel terrible for throwing in the towel before it was completely finished). It's been great guys! Syliras is awesome, and I'll miss Endrykas.
