The unassuming den of the Constrictor Dhani, it is truly a pit of snakes. Travelers should take care, because the Dhani are always hungry... [Lore]

It was early in the day, far too early for most to be up and about inside the nest. But there were a few still lingering, either heading towards their cave to settle in, or others like Mamoru who were up for the stay. The trickster relaxed himself in the stream baths, his robes thrown aside and left on the ground near by. In human form, the lightest of forms, he floated just beneath the bubbling and steamy waters in complete silence.
Mamoru hadn't thought of it, but there was a peaceful bliss to the waters, and going in when no one was around allowed one to submerge themselves into a tranquil serenity. It had been a busy season, a lot had happened, and he had the bruises and scars to prove it. It felt great to lay in the warm pool and let the roaming waters massage his body and give him comfort. His mind was quiet, arms and legs slowly swaying to keep himself a float. It was odd the kinds of things one noticed when they allowed their mind to fall silent and their gaze to wander.
He remembered back to his young years, possibly even when he was a snakeling and swam in the same pool. Everything seemed so much bigger then, and the world, even inside the nest seemed enormous. But that was an illusion brought on by a small and naive mind. Those days had been so simple, tiny snakes swimming back and forth with all the gusto they could muster as they raced against the others. They were a proud bunch even then, but their problems weren't any bigger than the mind that worried over them.
But that was a very long time ago, and so far into the past one might be able to convince themselves that it happened in another life, or to someone else entirely. Now, the trickster held the weight of the nest on his shoulders and the load seemed heavier by the season. It was a burden that he shouldered himself, but he did so gladly for the betterment of their kind. Mamoru pushed himself up and floated backwards until he could feel his feet on the ground beneath the waters. Soaked dark strains curled and matted to his head, as the water cascaded down his bare chest and shoulders.
Lifting his hands, Mamoru turned his palms upward and started to unleash his res from the palms of his hands. Closing his eyes, the Dhani concentrated on the task at hand and pushed out more res until the translucent liquid spilled from his hands and down into the waters. He then lifted his arms higher and the water rained from the pool upwards and towards his hands.
Keeping the thoughts clear in his mind, he worked the res above his hands into balls and allowed the raining bits of water to collect and coat the outer layers so that he could keep control over them. Mamoru opened his eyes and slowly moved the orbs of water further and further away from his hands. He pushed out more res to keep control, before drawing the orbs back towards him, then with a wave of his hands he thrust them both back into the pool.

Some wondered why he chose water as his first element instead of fire like the rest of the chaotic mages. Water was simpler to understand, and easier to control. For someone just starting to learn reimancy it was the perfect element to start with. Mamoru stood for a moment, his hands still outstretched as he thought on the element and the best way that he could put it to use. When he touched the waters and moved his hands about, he could feel the motion, the waves of water rippling seamlessly across the pool.
Water had that effect, it could be calm and flow across it's own surface, or it could be raging and hungry in the next beat. It was what allowed many creatures to live in the waters, while causing death and destruction to those who didn't understand it's nature. That's what he needed to do, learn the nature of water and how to use it against others. Turning his palms upward again, Mamoru pushed res from his palms and watched as the translucent gas settled into the waters again. The water was pulled to the res and Mamoru concentrated to draw more of it out and pulling it towards his hands.
Mamoru stretched his arms out wide, fingers extended and pointing outward. He lifted his arms higher, causing the thin sheet of water that had mixed with his res to rise up. Speckles of water splashed at his head and body, the rising water appeared to still float as if it were cascading down a fall in the jungle. Waving his arms out again, the Dhani thrust both arms down as he released the hold on his res and allowed the waters to crash into the pool again. Dropping his arms, the trickster popped his neck and looked around. There was still much he had to learn, and theories that he need to test out.
Going to the well for a third time, Mamoru emitted res fro his palm and held his hand upwards where he could see exactly what he was doing. Shifting his fingers, the trickster molded the res into three tiny balls and transformed the outer layer of all three into water, yet kept the inside into a gel so that he could maintain control. He raised his arm higher and sent the balls into a swirl, one shooting off after the there like bullets.
He didn't transform the inner layers into liquid and instead watched as they simply fell off once they reached a point beyond his control. But with the third ball, he pulled it back, recalling gelled res to return to float above his palm. With yellow-green eyes on the ball, he spun it around and around before releasing it at a high speed, transformed the inner layer to liquid and waited for the splash.

Mamoru watched the shadows closely, waiting for the moment when the splash would come so that he would see how far he could throw it. It wasn't a very short throw, nor a long one. The water ball landed just over the pool and splashed lightly on the ground a few feet away. Clicking his teeth, the Dhani allowed his arms to drop, creating another plopping splash in the waters around him. He supposed that was good enough as far as distance went, and it wasn't as if the tiny bubble of water alone could do anything other than piss someone off.
Disstance?..check. Collection of resss?..check. Now all I need isss another element to combind with thisss and I can have ssome real fun.
He wouldn't admit it, but Aka's use of res and the fire she commanded had impressed him greatly. Not many in the nest used fire, and instead they had been trained in water, earth, and air. The trickster had thought that he might try and discover air or earth next. However after meeting the fire bug, he knew exactly what he wanted to challenge himself with next. Lifting his hands once again, Mamoru pushed res from his palms and tapped into the water supply around him. Like before the steaming water reached out, trails of rain flowing upward as they were attracted him.
He moved his fingers around, somewhat making shapes in the air in front of him. The res floating above his hands collected the waters onto the outer layers and started to shape it. But instead of another ball, Mamoru weaved his thoughts into motion and created two fist-like shapes out of the res. With two water fist in front of him, he sent out of them out as if throwing a punch followed by the other. Trying to keep control, he drew them both back towards him before they were to far away or ran into each other.
Mamoru bent his elbows, turned his palms downward to bring the fists back and turn them back around. Sucking in a breath, he thrust his hands forward and sent one after the other away. Swinging his arm in an arch as if he were attempting a hook with each one. This time the water bubbles went further and disappeared before he would hear the almost silent splash. He exhaled, released the glow of res and allowed his body to cool. Mamoru didn't care much that he might had over done it. To learn was to push oneself to find the boundaries and then break them. It was also because of the use of res called to him, begging him to use it more and more and it felt great when he did.
Settling back into the cool, he closed his eyes and relaxed. He could meditate now on what he had learned in preparation for further use. He was tired, and he felt a strange tickling in his hands and arms, but the Dhani didn't have anything else to do that day and so he would rest. In fact, Mamoru had decided to take a nap right then and there. That was until he was interrupted. Two male Dhani arrived, and they seemed rather clingy as they settled into the pool at the same time. Mamoru glared at them, and his eye brow twitched.
By Ssiku, asss if the Dhani don't get enough flack from hissssing.
