It was sad. How could Faryon possibly call herself a herbalist when the only plants she had were dying and withering. Before she had left Endrykas last season she had purchased a few starter plants from a trader. He had a few uncommon and rare plants along with some common ones and Faryon couldn't pass up the chance to buy the little sproutlings.

They managed to survive the trip to Riverfall but since coming to the Sanctuary, Faryon may or may not have forgotten the poor things and now were sorely in need of some TLC.

There were three gardens at the healing facility, one of which was a meditation garden and she didn't think that was a proper place for her plants. The herb garden and the medicinal garden were however. Only problem was in Faryon's mind they were one in the same. Herbs were just as useful as medicines as they were to brighten a yummy dish. Faryon suppose as medicinal plants they couldn't exactly be used as herbs, so she could see the need for a distinction when she really thought about it.

Grabbing the three pots, Faryon left her room in the Within. She first looked right.. Then left.. Took her a chime to get her bearings. She had never suspected the Sanctuary to be so big and the Within seemed even bigger. Left.. Its definitely a left.

The route would take her through the library and then the kitchen common room area from there it was straight onwards to the actual facility. Faryon had to admit she relied on Kachal alot out in the Sea of Grass. He always seemed to know where to go or where she wanted to. Now she had to rely on her own sense of direction and it was rather frustrating at times, it seemed she lacked in that department.

Above ground she made her way to the small herb garden. Along the way, Faryon made a mental list of some stuff she would run by Kavala to put in the greenhouse once it was erected next season or so. Maybe the more rarer stuff to come by or annuals like some melons.

The herb garden was like an eden to the Drykas. She practically wanted to roll around in the dirt and plants and probably would have if the act wouldn't have killed everything. Faryon picked an unused space near some sage. The teen prefered to do planting by hand, there was nothing like feeling the moist dirt in between one's fingers and getting grime under your nails.

Digging into the dirt with her cupped hand, Faryon placed the extra dirt to the side to use for later. The first herb, Batonal liked to dig its roots deep so she spent some time digging out a nice deep, semi wide hole for the plant. The earth was a rich deep brown and seemed to be full of nutrients. It had an interesting smell to it and it was familiar but couldn't quite put her finger on it. Whatever had the deep chocolate colored dirt, smelling so it was just what she was hoping for if these poor things were to revive and grow further. The next part would be tricky and potentially hazardous to the plant.

The Drykas needed to remove the Batonal from its pot and hopefully not put it into shock. Faryon wrestled with the plant some, even though the dirt was rather dry, the herb's root seemed to have grown through the drain holes at the bottom. She had to gently lift them up then some what shove them back through the holes which was rather tedious. Once the roots were taken care of the rest was easy. The plant slid out of its confides and even shed some of the dead dirt. Carefully placing it into its new "home", she started packing the extra dirt around the Batonal, taking extra care around the base to make sure it was fully supported.

[The Sanctuary] Planting flowers

Next was the Delaviv, out of the three plants it looked the healthiest and still retained most of its color. Hard to believe only a season ago it was full of beautiful purple flowers and because of that was secretly her favorite. This plant didnt need such a deep hole as the previous one but needed proper drainage or the roots would rot. So after digging the shallow hole and popping the herb out of its pot, she reused the small pebbles that lined the bottom of the pot.

Most of the pebbles were still intertwined with the roots which was okay but Faryon still wanted to make sure it still had some breathing room. She placed the bottom of the hole with the pebbles, placing them in no particular order. The teen wouldn't say she put them in "willy-nilly" but had a method to the madness as her mother used to say. No two pebbles were the same so they stacked on top of each other unevenly but it only further the purpose of draining the water properly.

Due to the small rocks placement the Delaviv sat in the hole crooked but the Drykas figured within time it would straighten out some as it followed Syna across the sky. She didn't pack in the dirt as much leaving it slightly loose.

The last plant was an odd looking one. Jile was a strange cross between an evergreen tree and a berry producing shrub. Despite its oddity it had a pleasant smell and the berries made a quick antidote for most poisons. It was a rare find and Faryon had no idea how the merchant in Endrykas had come about it. She wasn't familiar with this plant so she decided a standard hole would do it fine. The teen was pretty sure it wasn't going to grow much bigger. Worse case scenario she could always relocate it if it starts to get out of hand, but for right now she just wanted it to come back from its pitiful state. Faryon moved further down from the Delaviv just incase the Jile grew like a weed like most shrubs with berries do and wouldn't over run the rest of the occupants here in the garden.

The Jile proved to be difficult as well to removed from its pot due to the thick roots that just didn't want to come out. Faryon feared she might have to cut them some to remove the plant but at the last tick it popped out like a cork in a bottle. By the time she was done replanting it her hands and clothes faintly smelled of pine.

All that was left to do was water them. After a bit of searching, Faryon located a water can. A fairly large water source was conveniently located not to far away so she didnt have to wander too far to fill it up. That was also when she noticed an odd wooden structure a bit further away. The teen could see something coming and going from it but at this distance she was unsure what exactly. Upon reaching the water, she realized it was a beehive. How had she not noticed the buzzing insects before? Now that she was aware of their presence, Faryon couldn't help but be a bit apprehensive and paranoid that she might get stung for being in what was basically their feeding grounds.

The Drykas tried to remember what was the saying for bees, "They will leave you alone if you leave them be." She supposed if she stayed clear of the hive and didn't piss off any of the workers in the garden she might be able to stay sting free. Filling up the watering can, Faryon rushed back over to her plants and watered them liberally.

"Drink up little ones! You definitely need it." in the girl's mind they looked better already now that they were in little pots, stuck underground anymore. Almost like they have stopped wilting and some color had returned to them but the reality was that probably wouldn't come to be until at least a few days of some sunlight and water.

The mini job haven't taken much more than a bell and a half if even that so Faryon took to watering the rest of the garden then weed it. Gardening always put her in a cheery mood and she couldn't help but hum a happy song as she worked. As the plants got watered and Syna's rays warmed the dirt, the garden became more fragrant. The medicinal plants' aroma and the fertilized dirt seemed to create an unique perfume that filled the air

[The Sanctuary] Planting flowers

Faryon watered all the plants generously but not too much. She didn't know when was the last time they were watered so she had no desire to kill them. Besides before watering them the dirt didnt seem too moist so she was probably safe enough.

Weeding wasn't a hard task just tedious especially if there was many of them. Luckily enough it wasn't so bad. Getting back on her hands and knees, she gently moved the plants around to see if any weeds were taking refuge under them. Once Faryon found one, the teen would grab it at its lowest point and pull it out. This usually pulled it and its roots out fully but the more resilient ones wouldn't come out in one full swoop. Those particular ones Faryon had to fish around in the dirt for the rest of the roots otherwise in a few days time the cheeky buggers would be back.

This was a must do part of gardening but wasn't exactly her favourite part though. Whatever she planted always had crisp earthly smells and the weeds always were sour and horrible smelling. They even seemed to linger on her skin even after a good bath and scrubbing. As with any job there was the positive and the negative, cant have one without the other.

Weeding was taken care of in a reasonable amount of time and it seemed she had done a thorough search and gotten them all. A job well done and all the pretty herbs and medicinal plants looked alot happier in Faryon's eyes and in turn made her happy too.

Faryon returned back to her own little three plants to make sure they were adjusting well. It was like a mom who was sending her kids off somewhere for the first time and was worried they would be okay without her. A silly notion perhaps but it definitely seemed as such and in a way the Drykas felt that way. The little plants were her children and she wanted to make sure they were safe, happy and comfortable. Faryon was satisfied that they haven't gone into shock and began to leave the garden.

The teen chanced one last look back before berated herself for acting so silly over some plants and made her way to the bath for a quick rinse. Maybe while she was there she can start making a mental list of what she could possibly grow in the greenhouse next season. A smile grew across her face and Faryon rushed off to brainstorm.
