Morgana grew up part of a very tightknit group of Svefra’s. The Lia of their Pod, Nimue was Morgana’s Aunt. She had lost most of her Pod to a violent storm, and created her own Pod in the middle Suvan Sea near riverfall out of the survivors. Morgana’s mother Viviane was, at the time prior to that storm, heavily pregnant with Morgana. She was born just three weeks before it happened. Just a baby, Morgan survived when her mother protected her. So she was raised with the last name Dreamcatcher, by her father, and by her aunt. Nimue was Morgana’s mother figure, and Morgan loved her as much she would her real mother. It was she who taught her how to sail, to fight with a cutlass, and to tell right from wrong. Morgana grew up in a pod of just 10 Svefra, and they would always accept Svefra who were alone, in fact, they made a point of it.
It was when she was 8 years old and having the time of her life playing on an untouched beach that she came across her Tavan. She was a runty baby turtle who’d been stepped on by all her brothers and sisters in her attempt to make it to the sea after hatching from an egg. Morgana saved the Sea Turtle from a swooping bird of prey, and carried it down to the water. She named her Cora, and the two of them became the best of friends. She spent most of her free time playing in the water with Cora, other times she practiced her skills like dancing and sailing and fighting with a cutlass.
It was when she was 15 that she was given her own Casinor to sail wherever she chose, so long as she came back. So that’s what Morgana did. She would travel the Suvan sea, and make port at different cities to explore them and pick up trinkets to add to her hair, which she had already started putting into dreadlocks years back. She was curious about other cultures, but she never wanted to stay in one city for long before returning to the sea again.
That year was when she found a washed up Svefra child near drowned on a beach of the coast of Lhavit. Morgana pumped the girls chest and managed to rid it of water, saving her life. Naturally she asked the girl what happened to her, but, either she couldn’t speak, or she didn’t want to, because she wouldn’t mutter a word. Morgana made her a fire, and got the battered child to trust her by comparing their gnosis marks of Laviku. The Girl eventually wrote her name in the sand.
Willow. It read.
Willow Tradewind. Soon after, the girl fell asleep by the fire.
Knowing the Svefra child would be readily welcomed into their midst, Morgana returned to her pod with her. Willow didn’t utter a word still, and Morgana had to explain that it seemed she couldn’t speak. The child hugged Morgana’s side for the next few years, and the two of them had become as close as sisters. In fact, they may as well have been sisters. Willow had lost her Tavan long ago, but soon managed to find another. Her Tavan was also a sea turtle, but one of a different species than Cora. She named him Gale.
By the time Morgana turned 17, Willow was 9 years old. The two of them would go exploring together now.
Eventually Morgana decided she wanted to leave her Pod to travel, explore, and possibly start a family. She knew everyone in her Pod, but none of them were suitable, as they were all so much older than she was. She knew she was next in line to be Lia, and she couldn’t handle that responsibility until she’d figured out how to take responsibility of her own life. Nimue, with some sadness, told her she was free to leave the pod for a good many years, so she left when she was 18, and has not yet returned with what she was looking for. Willow, Cora, Gale and Morgana still explore today.
