"Tournament," Vir gave the world a grin, bright, excited, just a little predatory. The banners streaming through the city streets shining call, battering at his senses. He could see the colors the crimson of the Sultros, the vibrant violet of the Terras, all clashing together, carving out territory for the two clans, designated areas for the combatants and contestants to ready themselves for the myriad of games, and challenges, the mock battles, that would all take place over the next few days.
The excitement of the people around him was palpable, a living writhing thing, stoking the already considerable rush of feeling washing over Vir. As he walked through the tents of those competing in the physical tournaments his very blood seemed to sing in his ears, matching the rising crescendo of readying arms, of preparation, the grunts of pre-exhersion, and the cheers of those already watching some contest or another.
His blood was singing to the song of battle, but his soul homed in on the clink of hammer upon anvil, the heat of the forge, the cursing grunts of smiths and their apprentices and his smile widened, this was not his first tourney, but it was the first in which he was comfortable allowing himself entrance into the games of battle, allowing himself to test his mettle in fires of a different kind, fires of war.
Though he knew it would be nothing more than mock battles his Coglias blood still seemed to respond, his muscles stretching languidly, readying himself for his turn in the rings, his turn to try his own fighting. The hand to hand would be tough, his skill lacking in a surprising way, he knew hed focused far more on his smithing and weapons play, neglecting a pastime that many of his people enjoyed, but he was unconcerned, loosing in wrestling was one thing he expected... he hungered for the true tournament, where those of similar skill levels would battle their weapons and armors gleaming.
It would be hours until then though and his body was taught, burning with a need for some action, any action. |
