This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

Mamoru looked over the dress, and the trickster was pleased. If it had been made for a Dhani, it would have been almost perfect. It would still need altering so that the bottom half of the dress wasn't dragging across the ground under her tail, but otherwise the sleek look fit his kind nicely. For Shayna, it would have to be cut as well, he could already see the girl falling flat on her face each time that she took a step. Other than that, the outfit could work, provided she didn't need to move her legs a lot.
And that was the problem..
"Hmm?, you don't like?" He asked, although he didn't expect an answer. "And here I thought you might look fetching in it. Oh well, tell you what Seamstress, I'll take that one, but I'll also need something more functional? My girl here enjoys moving those legs around and she's very good at it. So much energy in such a small frame." Mamoru remembered how active she had been the day they met and was sure that her former mistress kept her on her feet. He would keep the slinky dress for a time when fancy clothing was needed such as parties. For the rest of the time simple clothing would due.
Mamoru made a half circle around the girl, his eyes moving about her tiny form as if he were a sculptor trying to perfect his model. "Seamstress, what do you have in the way of coats, cloaks maybe. The weather here gets cold enough, can't have my pet getting sick on me. oh..and a pair of shoes to go with that." He added the last part after looking down at the sandals the girl wore. His home was a bit further back than most others and much closer to swampy land. She would need to keep her feet covered unless she wanted to lose a few toes.
"Just make it happen, I don't mind waiting a day or two as long as it's done right. You can take her to the back with you if you need to..examine her. Make sure that the fit leaves her with as much mobility as possible."

Mamoru mused at the girl's words. The title M'Lord was starting to grow on him. When another had started to call him by such a title it had felt strange given his position but over time he liked it more, and that like only grew as the words were spoken by Shayna's sweet voice. For the dress it was more odd than not that the girl didn't like the tighter fitting, more revealing attire. The Dhani and even the Myrians in the jungle wore far less. This was partly due to the heat, but he doubted any of them would choose loose fitting clothing even if it were cold there.
He uttered a silence chuckle as he watched her and folded his arms across his belly. Yellow-green eyes flickered from the seamstress and back to Shayna. The girl really didn't like the outfit, but she would learn to get used to it. Mamoru didn't know whether it was a custom to dress one way or the other, and she would have to bare with him while he figured this out. "I'm sure you'll get use to it. It's only clothing and I'd say it's better than wearing nothing, hmm?"
The trickster hadn't thought much about her uses yet, so far he just needed a pair of eyes and ears in the city. Someone that he would trust to keep him informed on things, he otherwise might not be allowed to hear. These run away slaves were another matter, and who better to talk about that subject than other slaves. He had other ideas, but before he put too much stock in them, he needed to see how useful this girl could be. "You won't have to wear this often, only when the needs arises, and I'll tell you then."
Mamoru waited while they moved to the back and tired on clothing. During this time he moved back towards the door and opened it to peek out. So many people, so many unsuspecting people, all scampering about as if they didn't have a care in the world. He was confused by this, if the runaway slaves were as dangerous as they were said to be, he wondered why they didn't have a stronger defense. The guards in the nest had worked daily to strengthen their numbers against the Myrians, but it didn't see like this place worked that way.
All of this time, the Myrians had survived due to their numbers that were more than twice what the Dhani had. He wondered if it were the same here, but it couldn't be. In the jungle the Myrians roamed the lands freely, but these runaway slaves were in hiding, and being slaves what possible power could they have? He pondered this for a moment until he heard foot steps. "Ah, there we are." he said turning to look over Shayna in her new attire. "I suppose this works well enough." He didn't ask if she liked it this time, and simply turned to the other slave. "The date is fine, and I'll pay now and send her back when it's ready. How much will this all be?"
"Everything happens out of necessity."

Shayna shifted her shoulders settling the garment more fully over her shoulders. It was workable, far more so then the dress he was apparently buying for her. At least she will have full range of motion with this outfit.
Namu nods and with quick math sure replies " six silvers for the dress, six silvers for the breeches two silvers and five coppers for the tunic and three silvers for the boots. So one gold miza seven silver and five coppers."
Namu waits patiently for the payment. Without out side influences she would not haggle, since she doesn't have the authority to reduce prices. Namu made the necessary changes and handed Mamoru his receipt. "Send the girl back the day after tomorrow and the dress will be ready. " Shayna shifted but she didn't complain.
Her new owner would keep her busy just trying to figure him out. He didn't seem like most of the free born of the city. He also was paying his cards close to his vest for she was have trouble reading his expressions.

Mamoru watched Shayna as she shifted in her new outfit, she was an interesting little kitten, so lively and animated, much more so than he would think a slave to be. Perhaps Kenash had it's own brand of slaves, and that was the reason. Either way it was still interesting and the girl's behavior was amusing. He gave the girl a last glance then reached into his pocket and took out a few coins.
"Here, I'll give you three gold mizas and you do me the favor of keeping an eye out for other outfits for my girl here. She's a rough one you see and her clothes are sure to be worn down." He glanced at Shayan again, she was still and silent, much different than she had been the day he first met her. He wondered how she could react if she knew he was the Magistrate's bodyguard. Would it be a good reaction, or something frightening?
He took the receipt and paid the coin to the slave. The trickster didn't feel the need to haggle for so little, plus he wanted to try and get in good with the shop owner. He probably wouldn't shop there for himself, but he could keep Shayna clothed and maybe down the line it would cost less to do so. "Oh and Mr. Radacke said that I could keep that bag she wore in here. It's not to my taste but it could come in handy later."
The trickster turned his gaze back to his pet then, a point being spoken as he found her eyes and lowered his gaze to her body. "How does the shoes fit? Well enough? Can't have you limping when you should be running." If she had no problems with them, he would nod again to the woman, and after Shayna collected the gown she wore in, he would lead her back outside. Shayna tried to adjust her clothing, and the fit of her new boots subtly, tried to make the movements less notable. She enjoyed the fact that the boots were much more stable then the sandals, they provided far more protection for her feet and she herself felt more secure in them. She didn't like how she felt she was squirming, but she had only ever been dressed in loose garments. The tunic was loose in terms of the only tight spot was where it was gathered beneath her breasts, outlining but not revealing and she could get used to that. The breeches were a different matter, they weren't uncomfortable but they would take a little to get used to. Surely she had never worn anything so colorful before. Unbleached linen was all that was ever afforded her before.
Perhaps her new owner was not as new to Kenash as he seemed, for he certainly was playing the game well. If he could afford a slave, and dress her in not only just one garment but two that were a step above what most slaves wore then he would be sure to catch the attention of the Dynasties. For a moment Shayna allowed a little bit of hope bloom in her chest, perhaps she wasn't going to be relegated to being the lone slave of a no-name freeborn.
She was still leery about him, there was something not quite..what she though he should be. A shade more confident then a normal freeborn, a shade more expectant. However it wasn't really her place to figure out her new master, if he wanted to reveal his secrets then he would. If not then she would still perform her duties..whatever they may be.
When he asked about her shoes, and meet her eye she did not lower her eyes. He had sought them out so she kept her gaze on him until he dropped his gaze. She allowed her hands to smooth the new garments downward, and shifted pointedly in her new shoes. "They fit well, M'Lord, they were in the children's shoes but .." She shrugged her shoulders, and grimaced at the burning sensation that bloomed when her fresh brand was shifted.
She followed him outside, the shapeless dress folded over one arm in front of her. Already she could tell that the chill in the air was less against her legs with the breeches on. "Might I ask a question M'Lord?" She spoke up with no hesitation. Some masters wished their slaves to be silent, others were more lenient. The only way she will learn what her owner wished was to ask, and to find out.
She didn't really wait for him to grant her permission, a little out of character for her but she had been toying with the possibilities since he had purchased her and her curiosity was at it's max. "You said where you were from there wasn't much need for gardeners, if you do not need a gardener then why did you purchase a slave who's primary skill set was in gardening?"

From the sky, they had all looked so tiny, like a bunch of colorful bugs roaming around, some hurrying and others gathering together between the grounds where the water parted. On the ground things were very different and half of the bugs thought themselves king or queen of the mountain. Mamoru looked around more and continued to take it all in. It was as if they lived on a small island of a sort. The waters surrounded them from one path of land to the next and he could see where the use of boats came in.
These were calm waters unlike that of the jungle which were teaming with beast hungry flesh of any kind. He looked again to his newly dressed pet, and back to the buildings around them. He had once asked information of her and at the time she hadn't been able to give it. Things were different now and he wanted to get the inside info before someone noticed his naivete and used it to their advantage. This world was different, but it seemed that somethings never changed no matter where one lived. The lust for power was everywhere...
The girl had a question then, and it didn't surprise him. The trickster was a Dhani of mystery and his vague speech and suggestive words were sure to raise many questions. However, none of that was the question she asked. The teen only wanted to know why he chose her, a gardener, when he said he didn't need one. Mamoru arched a brow at these words and looked back at her. "Oh, that could be many reasons really. Maybe I like a blank slate to work with, someone I can mold to my liking. Or.." He paused and ran his tongue over his canine teeth. "Would you believe me if I said you were just too attractive not to purchase?"
He only waited a tick, a quick pause in between his speech, though not long enough for her to answer if she thought too. "Then again, you did make gardening sound like so much fun. Maybe I could use one myself." In the end he hadn't actually answered her question, but he had given her a few good reasons why he might have chosen her, she was free to believe which ever she liked. "Now then...where too?" he said, though he wasn't asking her.
It was still far too early to head home, and there was a lot about the city he didn't understand yet. He also wanted to search out the run away slaves, and the rumor was they had inside connections. He had no way of knowing but it was worth the search. "Tell me is there a gathering place here? A place that the people go to for chatter and to enjoy the outdoors?"

When he began to answer her, the very fact that he did answer rather then rebuke her telling her that it was okay for her ask at least in private, she tilted her head upward so she could watch his expression. She was, as always, careful not to meet his eyes herself but if he sought hers out she wouldn't remove her gaze. Mainly she just wanted to watch his expressions as he spoke, the best way to get to know someone was by doing so.
She could believe that desire to mold someone from a blank slate, though really if a slave was a good slave then they all would be blank slates mostly. Tell them to behave a certain way and they would, tell them to speak a certain way and they will. At least slaves in Kenash, there are those who want to buy the new slaves because they enjoy the breaking of the minds and wills but Shayna found herself fortunate to have been born on a farm specifically purposed to breeding slaves. No she never had a mother, just a birth woman, but she was raised to know her place and she did not have to endure the breaking process. Unless, of course, her owner had simply wanted to ensure her good and broken in.
She openly disbelieved his remark that she was simply too attractive for him to pass up. Her previous owner had spent plenty of bells telling her how ugly she was. She wasn't even allowed inside her former Mistress' shop for fear of soiling her merchandise or turning customers away. She herself didn't think she was an eye sore but she was far from one of the pleasure slaves at the den. Unless, of course, if he just had an affinity for short females with freckles.
So in the end he didn't really help her understand what her role would be as his slave. Though if she were to be asked she would honestly answer that she was intrigued with the way he referred to her as a pet. The pets she knew, property of Dynasty brats, were often well cared for.
"There is the Black Swan Pond.." She answered, while she remembered the slave that tried to bathe in the pond she gave a slight grin without having realized that she did so. "There are many gatherings of Dynasty and the more wealthy Freeborn gather to discuss business or whatever else they wish to discuss. It is this way.." Shayna turned, her new boots clocking a little on the hard surface of the walkway. Her hair swung down her back, only a little unevenly cut after Katherine's attempt at trimming it. It was mostly grown out by now, so the unevenness was barely noticeable. She also didn't realize that with breeches rather then the looser skirts that she was used to wearing, her legs and her tiny hips were displayed. She walked with an air of someone who doesn't expect anyone to look at her twice.

"There is the Black Swan Pond you say?" he noticed the look on her face changed and assumed that the place meant something to her. Perhaps it was a place her former mistress took her too often, and it held fond memories for the teen slave. If this was true it was a good thing because she would be more relaxed there and less jumpy. It would give them a better cover to appear as if they were just out for a stroll rather than spying on everyone.
"I'm interested to see this place, and see how these freeborn behave and to meet the other noble families." Mamoru followed along allowing Shayna to lead him to their desired location. The trickster was an observant Dhani, and he too noticed how the breeches clung tightly to her hips and legs. It wasn't a bad thing and she looked better now than she had when he first saw her. It was true that he had different taste than most, whether for the influence from the gnosis he had, or his own selective style, Mamoru seemed to enjoy certain types of beauty in females.
"What am I to expect here? Unless I missed something the ruling families don't seem to friendly to anyone that isn't a part of their crowd. I should think the freeborn don't just roll over, hmm?" He looked around again, ever the wary Dhani, paying close attention to his surroundings as well as marking off his location in his mind so that he could remember where she was leading him. "And what of you, did your mistress allow you to visit this place? What did you do while you were there?"
The walk continued and Mamoru noticed more people in passing, some with odd shapes and writing upon their cheek marking them as slaves, and others with markings on their hands and arms marking them as freeborn like himself. The Dynatsy members were easy to pick out. They were the ones prancing around as if they owned the city, and in a way..they did. "What else is this pond for? Does it contain anything worth telling?" He was curious, there were many strange and mysterious places in the jungle, one of such was a pool that held some type of magic.
Mamoru had never been to it, but it was said that few who did, didn't return right in the head, or not at all. Following the path, he noticed the dark coloring her of hair and the thickness of it, and all the way down to the subtle twist in her buttocks. He didn't mind the walk, and there wasn't a shortage of things to look at. Such as the ponies, so plump and ready for the taking. He had to remind himself where he was, before he shifted into Dhani form and attacked one.
