23rd of Winter, 513 AV. 30 chimes past the 17th bell.
Jax walked into the inn, pulling his coat further over his shoulders to try and combat the cold air that drifted in alongside him. He looked about his surroundings. It was just a simple, run-of-the-mill inn. Not very full, but not empty either. Jax sauntered over to the bar and took a seat. There wasn't a barman in sight. He pulled the hood down from his head and looked about his surroundings. Nothing of interest. He ran a hand through his blue hair and then shook it about, loosening it up so it fell over a majority of his face. Jax cupped his hands over his mouth and yawned somewhat loudly, turning some of the patron's heads. He rubbed his eyes and sighed. Nobody looked like they had enough money that was worth Jax's time to steal.
A few minutes later, a man came walking out of the lavatory rather obnoxiously. He took a seat multiple chairs down from Jax. The man pounded his fist off the bar twice and the barman came running from the backroom to serve him. The man ordered an ale. Jax looked the man up and down and saw something that caught his eye. A pouch of coins hanging from his waist. A smile formed across Jax's face but he quickly stopped since he'd probably get caught and spook the guy. As the barman delivered Jax's victim's ale, Jax stood up as if he were to leave.
Jax slowly walked towards the man, staying behind him and out of his line of sight. He checked that nobody was looking as he inched closer and closer to his target. The barman was cleaning mugs with his back turned to them and the rest of the patrons were too engrossed in their activities to pay any attention. Jax outstretched his hand for the pouch and gripped it. He pulled as hard as he could. The small rope that held the pouch onto the man's waist did not break. The man turned around and stood, squaring up to Jax. He was much bigger than Jax had first perceived him. "Were you trying to steal my money, you scoundrel?" "No, no, si.--" Jax attempted to lie his way out but to no avail. The man threw a vicious punch into Jax's face. |
