Stretching northward along the coastline of the Suvan Sea, the Cobalt Mountains are the home of the Bronze Wood, numerous ruins, and creatures both strange and fantastical.

“I get the impression, Orion, that you must beat women off of you with a stick. Surely they are hoping to get a hold of that old thing.” From the history of Orion that Ale did know… It seemed that his heart was something women sought out, in some way or another. “I’ll be sure to avoid rushing to your defense then.”
A smirk crossed her features. “Ah, I suppose every woman you meet falls madly in love with you, then?” She shook her head slightly—an amusing thought in the least. The agreed challenge would be a fun little game the two would be able to play: idle, meaningless flirting. “One day you’ll find the company of horses agreeable, being a knight does sort of tie you to them… Perhaps you should look at the darts again if you have such a distaste.” Ale winked, going back momentarily to his plethora of jobs.
Brown eyes watch him for a moment. Alevadra wasn’t a terribly touchy person, the idea of a stranger rubbing various muscles to help her relax one saw to tensing herself further. “I think I’ll just take your word on it. Delicious meal and cleaned wounds is all I need. No need for… Rubbing.” She said the word with a bit of disdain, squinting her eyes slightly as she said it.
“If you ever change your mind, Orion, I would be happy to hear the tale of whatever is it you’re running from.” The lack of past tense was not a misnomer. Ale had a strong belief that if someone was not willing to speak on something they claim to have once feared, once avoided or run from… They were still running, they still feared it. “But I will not push the issue,” She reassured.
His sudden speechlessness grew uncomfortable for Alevadra. Had she said something off putting? Offensive? She only spoke the truth as Tyveth surely knew it! Her intentions had never been to unsettle a fellow member of the order. She merely wished to continue a conversation—perhaps one less heavy that Sunbreth, yet, it seemed the subject of children was also a heavy one, one Ale should have let be.
The knight found herself staring, watching him as he popped the candy she’d given him into his mouth, his blue eyes wholly avoiding hers. It was intentional, one knew when they were being watched as blatantly as Ale was watching—his lack of eye contact was on purpose.
“I am sorry, Orion,” She broke their silence after a few chimes. Her voice was low as she continued to search his countenance for clues as to his emotional state. “If I have offended you, that was not my intent,” Her eyes lingered a moment longer before returning to the woods. “Perhaps a bell of silence will do us well,” Her voice was bright, as if trying to look to a positive.
She shot him a smile before her attention moved back to the woods, just as the blinding rays of Syna began to creep down. |
