Vadu Appearance *Having trouble finding a live-action faceclaim; any suggestions are welcome! Race: Mixed Blood. Gender: Male. Age: Twelve. Birthday: 92, Winter, 501 AV. Birthplace: Kalinor. Appearance: Vadu is a true half, and it is quite apparent at first glance. Pitch locks frame his face, and he bears pale blue eyes that are reminiscent of his human father. The first thing that one might notice when meeting Vadu is the presence of a black patch over his right eye. This is due to it being a 'lazy' eye; he cannot see with it and has been confirmed half-blind. He is quite ashamed of the defect, and therefore, he conceals it. Vadu is also painfully skinny and frail, with the ashen skin of a Symenestra and softened facial features of a human child. His toenails and fingernails are blackened and sharp, but do not seem to be interested in growing into claws in the least, and while his fangs are capable of extending to the usual length, his venom is weak. Vadu nearly always sports bruises from the tumbles and falls he suffers daily, some gained from the practice of acrobatics, some from the teases of other children, and some simply from day-to-day navigation. Vadu usually prefers to wear black silks. However, his younger cousin insists that he not look so gloomy all the time and often weaves him more colorful clothing during her weaving lessons. Character Concept Vadu is in possession of a kind heart and a civil mind. He is quiet and hardly speaks in the company of strangers. However, one might be surprised by his soft tongue and entrancing speech when he dares part his lips. Vadu is notoriously shy, and he is often reduced to blushing, stuttering, and bowing his head when embarrassed. He is very conscious of his appearance and does his best to make himself less noticeable. It's rather hard to dislike him for his manners, but Vadu suffers all the same due to the circumstances of his birth. This dejects him more than anything, and while he might possibly harbor carefully contained feelings of resentment for his outcast status, the boy would most likely never act upon them. He is adventurous and easily excitable, thirsting for mystery and danger. He desires a true sense of belonging beyond all else. He isn't a liar by nature, but Vadu seems to have been gifted with manipulation and persuasion. Chivalry is something he likes to portray. He will always play by the rules, but he isn't adverse to bending them if he doesn't think that they are fair. He unfortunately has a knack for mischief. Likes: Raspberry jam, acrobatics & dance, games, music, caring for Oro, playing with Sirscha. Dislikes: Group activities, weaving (mostly due to his own blundering), liars & cheats. Character History Vadu was born as the result of an affair between Nessia Ageratum, the youngest daughter of the Ageratum Web, and Devlin Bishop, a human merchant. Nessia had always been a sickly young woman, and it proved that childbirth was too much for her frail body to endure, despite the lower mortality rate of such couplings. Vadu was born as his mother died, his given name being the last thing on her lips. His father hadn't the slightest clue as how to fulfil the needs of a half-Symenestra infant. Thus, he entrusted his son to Nessia's elder sister, Sylvenia Ageratum, who only agreed to assure that her sister's death was not in vain. In return, Vadu's father promised to return to Kalinor each trade season to meet with his son. Vadu has been raised alongside Sylvenia's own two children and is treated as a part of the Web despite the stigma placed on Dra by the rest of the community. While his aunt, Uncle Vedos, and elder cousin Dynaios may seem cold at times, simple actions of theirs often reassure him that he is as much a part of their family as his youngest cousin, Sirscha. His aunt often reminds him to represent their Web well, which speaks for much of his polite attitude. Language Fluent Language: Symenos. Basic Language: Common. She is of an calm disposition and often drapes herself around Vadu's neck, recognizing his scent as similar to his mother's, her previous handler. He feels a strong kinship with Oro, not only because of her significance to his mother, but because she too is blind. Housing Location: Kalinor. House: Vadu still lives in the home of his aunt. He shares a niche with his elder cousin. This doesn't allow for much privacy, but it's certainly comfortable enough.
