8th of Winter, 513 AV

The quarters were still going to take some getting used to. The summoner had been on the island of the dead for eight days now, and still hadn't had single night of good rest. Rolling off the mat, Felicia propped herself up, and eventually standing. It only took a moment for the girl to go through what was now her morning routine, granted it was simply waking up and getting dressed. Often times when traveling, Fel wouldn't have to get up early. This was great for the girl, since she was definitely not a morning person, and everyone else was still shopping and packing in cities before they finally left around mid day, giving Felicia plenty of time to wake up and go about her business as she pleased. The island was much different, and though Felicia didn't know a bunch about it, the locations of various places on the island were starting to become familiar.

Today the summoner would be heading towards the training grounds, specifically the prairie. This was the first place she had summoned after her arrival on the island. Practicing with what was her only 'friend' so far on the island, who had made her a dais the first time for easy drawing. It just so happened however, that this friend, was absolutely insane. The past days had been very stressful, and even more eye opening. Sahova was a place that Felicia wasn't quite sure she belonged, but had gotten sucked into anyway. There was much that needed to be done in preperation for the upcoming days, with Judgement not far off. Practice was necessary if the summoner was going to b impressing anyone with her circles. Though her circles were elaborate and carefully drawn, a secondary magic style was going to be required in order to impress those who observed her. Glyphing was the chosen magic to practice, and it was being taught to her by the same mage who first brought her to the prairie.

Going to the prairie alone was much more dangerous, but it also meant that Felicia could summon to whatever world she wanted. That meant Fyrden, which was always this summoners world of choice, would be getting a portal opened to it. Conversations with these other worldly creatures were never boring, as each one had their own reasons as to why Felicia should set them free. Of course there was no way the young summoner was going to actually allow any creatures to roam free, and she rarely even allowed the creatures out of the circle, never loosening the leash at all. The creatures had interesting things to say anyway. They wouldn't simply give up once told no, they would try to manipulate Fel into letting them out, but she already had in her mind that nothing they said could be trusted. Perhaps the summoner should be taking this stance towards the other inhabitants of Sahova.

After leaving the room, it took Felicia only a few steps before something caught her eye. Another woman, who seemed just a bit shorter than herself and red hair not too unlike her own. The more interesting thing, what had actually caught the summoners eyes, was the cat that was following the young looking girl around. It's body was composed of a purple smoke, which gave away to the summoner that the creature was actually an Avavali. This sparked many questions in Felicia's mind, the most prominent asking where she had gotten the familiar. If it had been someone on this island to give it, Fel needed to find out who it was.

Approaching the younger girl, Felicia offered her hand right away saying "Hello there. I'm Felicia, a summoner on the island. If you don't mind, I'd have a few questions to ask you about your Avavali." Saying this, the summoner looked down towards the cat when talking about it. She knew the creatures to be rather whimsical, and not at all serious. The real questions weren't so much about the Avavali itself, but more as to where it came from, who summoned it, and why it was chosen as this girls familiar. They weren't particularly helpful, Felicia could only really see them being used as company, rather than to help with experiments. Many familiars had trouble helping though, almost all of them had a one track mind, getting free. Felicia knew this from her countless summoning sessions, where every creature had that same goal. Fel hadn't heard of many success stories with familiars, but some did occur when the two bonded particularly well. Truthfully, the summoner desperately wanted her own familiar, which was the reason she was prepared to question this new met girl about her own.

Interesting Creatures [Celeste]

She suppressed a surprised yelp at the unfamiliar voice. Slowly, Celeste turned to face the speaker, who shockingly enough, turned out to be a living, breathing, human girl. She blinked for a moment, scrambling to process what she’d been asked. Luckily (or unluckily, depending) Illia decided to take over, the cat looking up at her cheerfully with wide, purple eyes.

”Hello!” The being sang. ”My name is Illia. I can answer any questions you might have.” It was difficult not to become exasperated. No matter how many times she explained why the familiar shouldn’t do something, she just ended up doing it anyway. Celeste flashed her companion a strained smile.

”Hi there Felicia,” she said at last, looking the taller woman over. She had cropped auburn hair and buoyant, if not a bit tired, green eyes. But whether or not the woman was sound of mind, she couldn’t say. As per Annalisa and what little she learned of Daren, the humans that did make it to the island were often, well… Insane. Excepting the initiates of course, but they were mostly spared the indignities of becoming an apprentice.

She couldn’t use auristics in such a tight corridor without being rude and she didn’t want to offend a potential ally for the future. But still, if the woman turned out to be crazy, she was going to do some serious self-evaluation. ”I’m Celeste Arumen,” she offered. ”Apprentice and Initiate to Riyanna Sterder, Warden of the Prairie. It’s nice to meet you,” she said softly, giving her a shallow bow. ”May I ask how long you’ve been on the island? Perhaps it is best if we walk and talk.” Her eyes reflexively darted to the woman’s hand.

No ring. Huh, that was odd.

Perhaps she was a new arrival, then? The girl began walking and gestured for Felicia to follow. That was, assuming she didn’t have better things to do. If the woman was a talented summoner, perhaps they could forge some ties. Plus, the more humans she knew, the better. The little girl was sick to death of the rotting, grim inhabitants of the Citadel. Not only were they evil, but they were drier than a bucket of sand. Excepting Sevrin from Lab 9-A, that was.

Oh Gods, she hoped poor Felicia didn’t get stuck with him.

Interesting Creatures [Celeste]

Postby Felicia Gamora on January 1st, 2014, 10:02 pm

The little Avavali was very friendly, seeming rather excited to be asked about. The creatures, at least from her experience, usually loved to talk and were generally excited to be around someone to listen to them. This one didn't seem too different, replying almost immediately to Felicia's questions and wanting to answer them. Though in the end, the summoner knew it wouldn't be the Avavali's call as to whether any answers were actually given. The other red haired mage would be the one to give any information that Felicia was really looking for. Fel let out a silent prayer that this other girl wouldn't be as crazy as the last one Felicia had met.

Fel began a small walk, leading towards the vestibule with the intention of heading to the prairie. After making sure Celeste and her familiar were following, the summoner was ready to answer a few questions, and ask a few more of her own.

"I've only been on the island for about eight days. I haven't had much time here, but I've been here long enough to learn two things. First is that there are quite a number of people here who are largely out of their petching mind. Which somewhat leads to the second, you don't trust me. For this I don't blame you, it's something more of the islands fault than yours." After the first meeting with Annalisa combined with the way most nuit treated her, Felicia had what she thought was a good idea of how the island of the dead would be working.

"I know I probably shouldn't be trusting you either, but I'm a tad desperate. Eight days in and I still haven't met another summoner. You really have no reason to answer me, but I have just a few questions about your familiar and where you got it, if you are willing to help me out. I assure you that somehow I will repay the help, you have my word, as much as that doesn't mean on Sahova." Felicia's comments and questions seemed a bit rushed. The summoner was quickly trying to get her idea and plea across before giving the opportunity for the accompanying pulser to walk away.

There was always the possibility of Celeste being just as crazy as Annalisa, though somehow Felicia doubted anyone could be quite as mad as that woman. Being anywhere short of that would be a step forward on the summoners list of friends, and would be much welcomed by the girl. A new friend would be ideally powerful and not so insane, but Felicia found the idea to be rather unlikely on Sahova, and was ready to find someone less inane, even if they weren't as powerful as others. Everyone on this island had their secrets anyway, and even some of the newest arrivals could have their use, as Fel had so recently discovered.

Continuing the walk at a slow pace, Felicia made sure to keep step with Celeste, an kept an eye on her familiar. Avavali were curious creatures, though not the ones Fel had particularly preferred to summon. But the creature game from Fyrden nonetheless, so Felicia was interested to learn about Illa. Eagerly awaiting answers, the summoner was prepared to listen intently to the other pusler, and would keep an eye out for signs of insanity.
