The dramatic in Anna took hold really as she thought about this situation further, that grandiose part of her that reveled in dark irony. She had set out to betray Velia, who had in many ways been more to her than Elsa ever was but yet the thought of her blood being spilt was anathema. Though Anna had to think that there could be no greater betrayal than that of one's blood, was this then a test by her god? To see what she valued more, her faith or her blood? If so Anna was fairly confident that Rhysol would win out, how darkly poetic that would be that the elder sister betrayed the one who trusted her most.

Truly Sahova was a theatre for the ages, a stage wherein all played their parts as dictated by the scripts offered to them. 'Twas a drama for the ages, one that never seemed to end as it was locked in place. No, it was not a game as Amaryllis called it, it was a grand façade, the greatest of them in fact. Both a tragedy and a comedy, a paradox among paradoxes and she stood up the stage in the beginning of a new act. It was only right to play her part then.

Why not indulge in this little fantasy for a little while longer? It was rather amusing to delude herself into believing that this could work out for the better, and it would make the bittersweet wine of betrayal all the better at the end. Her madness warred with the vestiges of sanity, though all told she didn't truly thing herself mad. Simply more open to the world and everything in it.

The tall woman stood slowly, spreading both arms slight and gazing upwards with a smile on her face.

"Two blood siblings facing the horrors of Sahova, bound through birth ties and childhood. Rather a story repeated through the ages, no? Though I would suppose that as plays go this one is a fine one and one I rather find myself indulging in. May haps they shall succeed or fall, tis all left to the whims of fate." Anna said, as much to her audience as to herself.

A tour? Oh such a thing could be arranged, though it might be a fair idea to avoid the Palsa Hydrasa for the time being. Amaryllis had enough leverage over Anna as it was, adding in her sister sounded rather unwise to her at the moment. It would rather invite much disaster to her doorstep, to allow the craft Nuit such a piece in her imagined game. Let Elsa follow a script written by Anna's own had for the time being, hopefully this act would end in Anna's favor.

"Most certainly, sister dearest, Sahova is quite grand from and aesthetic view and its environs are certainly nothing like Zeltiva. For its untold horrors a certain vicious and cruel beauty lies hidden beneath the surface, an artistry that really only time can reveal." Anna stated, her words articulate and flighty.

So the monster and her sister were reunited, all well and good but the question the traitor asked herself was where best to go from here. It all depended really, Anna was a rather proactive individual so likely something would come to her. A day never passed where she was not doing something to further either her knowledge or her sway, for good or ill she was always looking to make ripples. It was a part of who she was, seeking to change that which remained unchanged. Add a little chaos to the daily life, the Nuit's could certainly use it. Really she was doing them a favor.

"You really have two option while her, my sister, to be a hawk or a dove. To be a manipulator or to be manipulated, to be strong or to be weak. Those who are strong and resourceful survive and thrive while those who are weak are as doves in the talons of a hawk. Do you understand what I say to you now, Elsa?" Anna asked.

The tall woman leaned against her wall an raised an eyebrow at the girl, as if she were questioning the girl's capabilities. Anna already knew that comparatively she was by far the more ruthless and hardhearted of the two of them. He sister lacked the detachment and almost psychopathic disdain Anna held for others. However would see do what was necessary when the time arrived? That was the question.

Bond of Blood [Elsa]

Postby Elsa Marin on January 3rd, 2014, 11:56 pm

Elsa was glad to see that the best way to get Anna involved with something was still to make a big deal out of it. That much remained the same, at least. Anna was destined for the theatre, one way or another. There would be plays about her one day. The great and powerful Anna Marin. Elsa smiled fondly at the thought, looking at her sister. One thing they both had in common was an attraction to the spotlight. Even when it was just the two of them, Anna dominated the room. Elsa didn't have Anna's character, though. Where Anna could dominate a room with just a few words, Elsa had to resort to wearing bells just so she wouldn't be ignored. Her smile twisted at the thought, and she pushed it away.

"I'm not some pigeon," Elsa said, hands signing her frustration as she pouted. The word brought back memories, though. Memories of a sailor with strong hands and a warm chest and such a lovely tongue. He had called her 'pigeon' - picky as hell and impossible to get rid of. She'd soon found a better use for his mouth than flattery. Elsa shifted as the thoughts rose unbidden, thinking she must look quite the fool for blushing so furiously at pigeons. "Just because I'm not frigid like you doesn't mean I'm weak," she grumbled before she realized what she'd said.

Frigid? Anna felt a flare of annoyance at the classification, if anything she was passionate about most things. It just so happened that her passions were of a darker nature, by that it was usually classified as a combination of extreme hedonism and destruction. Ah, well, that little annoyance could be worked out later no doubt, she was rather apt at throwing people off their guards. Her mood swings tended to get her into a fair bit of trouble though, the other day had shown her that. Best to keep her destructive tendencies away from the eyes of others from now on.

She allowed the annoyance to pass, at the very least Elsa recognized her authority here which would certainly be useful later down the line when she finally decided what the petch to do with her. Of course they were watching her even now, always watching her even in private. They probably knew their relationship now, they thought Anna didn't know about them but oh she knew. She'd kill them all one day, smear their remains against a wall and then she'd be safe from their ever present ears. They watched, simply waiting for the right time to act but Anna wouldn't give them the chance.

Her sister didn't know about them, then again Anna didn't have names yet but she knew -petching knew- that they were listening. Stupid petchers, almost as bad as Darren. They would get theirs eventually though, oh, they would one day and then she would laugh in their faces. Oh how she couldn't wait for that day.

Pleasant thoughts about destroying her unseen enemies aside the woman kept up the outward appearance of sanity, couldn't have her sister see her more enlightened mindset. Even she couldn't understand, no one could understand what she knew and where they laid waiting for her. They had to figure it out for themselves.

"Not a pigeon, a dove, there is a difference sister. Regardless, mind what you say and who you trust. Anyone who has a ring around their finger is to be addressed with respect, but they are not to be trusted. Except for me of course. Make no promises to anyone unless absolutely necessary, word is law here on Sahova." The Sorceress said, wishing to ensure the woman did not make a stupid mistake.

Logically Anna probably could have saved herself some trouble by just taking Elsa down to the Dungeons and killing her, she even recognized this option as being perfectly valid. Her sister was weak and soft, a possible thing that could hold Anna back from her full potential. She wasn't entirely heartless though, blood still counted for something to the tall woman though certainly it wasn't something she would lay her life down for. If Elsa became a burden then Anna would simply have to take steps to remove that burden, it would leave a bad taste in her mouth and probably kill that last spark of humanity but it was either Anna or her.

However, if she did manage to survive then perhaps she might be of use to Anna later down the line. The Sorceress was thinking for the long term here, there were benefits to helping Elsa and there were certainly drawbacks. The drawbacks could be dealt with by simply cutting her loose and the gains were enough that Anna found herself considering them. It was something to ponder over nonetheless.

The tall woman moved over towards the door and opened it, giving Elsa a curt gesture to follow. She should at least show her the Gug Adjak if nothing else. The rest could be handled at a later date. The Dungeons would be an interesting diversion for a much later date, possibly to get her sisters hands bloody. Clean hands wouldn't do, oh no. Not on Sahova of all places. Maelstrom had taught her that, if one hesitated then one died.

"I'm going to show you the Gug Adjak, its the primary space for magic use of the communal variety. The Private Labs to the sides are barred to you because you lack a ring. Rings come in many different makes, Bronze for Apprentices like me, Silver for full Wizards, Gold for those with high status, and from there the materials vary. My mistress has a ring seemingly wrought from diamond for instance." Anna said as she walked down the halls of the Quarters.

Bond of Blood [Elsa]

Postby Elsa Marin on January 4th, 2014, 8:52 pm

Elsa skipped along behind her sister, smiling. Their adventure had only just begun. She reflected on Anna's words as they walked, taking them to their logical conclusions. First, trust no one. Never assume that one will do as they say, or in the way you expect them to. In the extreme, trust no one to respect your boundaries, or your privacy, or your life. Second, promises are sacrosanct on Sahova. People will keep their promises and expect you to do the same. In conclusion, be careful. Be very, very careful.

Elsa was starting to get an inkling of what she was getting into. Thankfully she was very good at keeping a smile. "I never thought I'd hear you calling somebody 'Mistress'. I can think of at least three girls back home who would kill for that." Elsa playfully bumped her hip up against Anna. She stretched, raising her hands over her head, letting the movement slide up from her toes to her fingers. She put her whole body into it, like a cat. Bells rattled as she shivered from the stretch and the ambient cold, her cloak thrown back over her shoulders. The cloak had cost her a fortune, but as Elsa snuggled into the soft tiger fur, she didn't regret a single bent copper Miza. "What's she like? Is she nice? What does she teach?"

Embalming. The dressing and preparation of corpses. Was Anna working with corpses now? The dead, not-moving kind? Elsa had to physically brush away the goosebumps on her skin. She couldn't help but wonder just what she'd exposed herself to by clinging to Anna dressed as she was. She had to think of some way to politely inquire as to Sahovan hygiene.

Bond of Blood [Elsa]

Anna had a brief moment for introspection as they crossed into the Courtyard, the eerie domain of the ghosts of the island and Mistress Wanda. She made very certain to keep to the designated path, she was attuned to the spirits well enough but not willing to risk throwing herself them. One day perhaps she would be that powerful, stronger than even the Mistress of the Courtyard, but it would not be anytime soon. Reimancy was her strength, hers nearly unmatched by many on the Island.

She pondered the question regarding Amaryllis, her mistress, it was a curious thing in that she really had no idea what to think of her. Amaryllis was, above all else still very much a mystery to Anna and she suspected the Embalmer preferred it that way. Magic wise, Anna had more power in her little finger than Amaryllis did in her whole being but her power was far more formidable than mere magic.

Amaryllis was an artist in Anna's eyes, a different and lesser art than magic but certainly a potent art form. Without her the Nuit of the Citadel would not be able to transition so easily from body to body, it was her work that kept the gears of Sahova spinning eternally. Not only that but her political sway was rather far reaching all things considered, any power or sway Anna had was due to Amaryllis.

That didn't mean Anna liked her though, part of her hated the Nuit and wanted to crush her like she knew she could. She did respect her and fear her to some degree though, which was probably all the Embalmer cared about as far as keeping Anna under her heel. Which was really where she was very firmly located, as indebted to the crafty and enigmatic creature as she was.

"Well, first off she hates being called mistress to her face. She claims it makes her sound older than she really is, so if you should ever meet her don't call her mistress, just call her Amaryllis. You'll know her by the peacock robes and the fact she looks more alive than undead. She rarely leaves the Palsa Hydrasa though, so you'll be unlikely to meet her." Anna stated, shrugging as they crossed the threshold into the Gug Adjuk.

It was not long before they stood in the Common Labs, and the ground floor of the Gug Adjuk. As always it was a busy sight, apprentices and the like bustling to and fro as they carried out this project and that. It was normally like this, the ever industrious machine of Sahova always at work. Along the outer edges were the Private Labs, where other wizards worked tirelessly on their assigned projects.

The tall woman walked over to a nearby workbench and leaned against it, gesturing widely around with her left arm. One might notice the rather ugly looking scar on her palm, the place where she had reopened her initiation scar. It had been that little prick that had set off her life here, that tiny little amount of blood spilt that now haunted her in the Citadel. Were it not for that, perhaps Amaryllis wouldn't be her mistress, perhaps she would have been taken by Maelstrom and made to battle endlessly in his Sanctum. Perhaps she would have been forced into the Wardens as an Initiate. It all came down to that one moment. It was funny really.

"Welcome to the Gug Adjuk, where you are likely to spend most of your time between now and Judgment time. This and the four floors above it are open to non-apprentices. The doors around it lead to Private Labs, which are barred to you until you earn your Apprenticeship. Wizards work there and Apprentices out here, as well as unproven. Hopefully I won't be working out here for too much longer though." Anna said.

Yes, hopefully she would soon be a full Wizard and then would have her own Lab space to test and experiment. It was her hope, then she might finally have some freedom relatively speaking. It would also allow her to more easily pursue the agenda of Rhysol.

Bond of Blood [Elsa]

Postby Elsa Marin on January 6th, 2014, 10:25 pm

Elsa looked around the Gug Adjak wide-eyed in wonder. In a way it was the clearest sign that she wasn't in Zeltiva anymore to see so many people practicing magic without restraint or regulation. People worked bones and glyphs and res in equal measure, many of them practicing magic Elsa had never known existed. "This place is amazing," she said, almost reverential. Her smile turned excited. So much to do, so much to see, so much to learn.

"I'm sure you'll make wizard easy. You're the smart one, after all." Elsa wrapped an arm around her sister's waist, sticking close by her side. Exploration could wait. She hadn't seen her sister in so long she had to touch her just to make sure she was real. "I have so many questions I want to ask. What's this Palsa Hydrasa thing? What would happen if I try to go somewhere I'm not allowed? Is there anywhere I can have a bath? Let's start with the bath one." Two weeks at sea and Elsa felt as filthy as Sahova smelled.

Anna remembered not to long ago when she had first laid eyes upon the halls of the Common Labs, her amazement being comparable to Elsa's though a little more muted. The Chaon had the remembered a much more amazing sight, the visage of Rhysol and how he had appeared before her all those nights ago. Compared to the glory of Rhysol even Amaryllis' domain was a pale shadow, barely holding a candle to his divine radiance. It was the power that was always present over her heart, the place where the blood of a god had stained her flesh and made her so much more.

Speaking of Rhysol it was time to consider exactly what curses to use on Elsa, things that would make her life a much more difficult prospect in the Citadel. It was a very fortunate thing that Chaon was so very subtle, being known as one was a difficult prospect for an investigator to uncover. Anna was very selective about her targets, weaving the curses in only in the ways she knew would devastate her victims. Luckily for her, she already knew Elsa well enough to break her down enough that her Judgment might end in disaster.

Elsa's inquires gave her just the opening she had been searching for, her sister was quite high maintenance. Sahovan hygiene, or rather lack thereof, was going to devastate her. It was time to start playing on every fear she knew the girl had, as much as it would kill her it would also be thrilling. She reveled in the realm of betrayal, she was truly a liberated follower of Rhysol with her worldview being twisted to serve him in any possible way.

When she spoke her answer there was the subtle edge of a curse to it, the seeds of corruption that would manifest and bloom into something so much more. It would lay dormant for a few days, only manifesting after that and then lasting for a week unless Anna was present to lengthen it and add new layers to it. She intended to avoid using mind altering curses for as long as she could manage.

"Well, the smell is something you get used to. If it bothers you that much, I'm afraid its a stream, or the ocean, or nothing." Anna said, smiling in amusement.

The curse was rather simple really, but it would likely serve as one of those little chinks in Elsa's armor. It would induce a rather terrible smell that just wouldn't wash out, no matter how much her sister would try to wash it out. It was a rather cruel and heartless thing to do, but Anna affirmed in her mind that she was doing this for her own good. Sahova was not the place for Elsa.

"The Palsa Hydrasa is the domain of my mistress, Chief Embalmer Amaryllis. More than that you need not know, you need only know that you would be very wise to avoid both it and her. There are wards in place to prevent you from going certain places, you simply won't be able to enter." The Sorceress said with a shrug.

She most certainly did not want Amaryllis touching Elsa, the Embalmer already had her in an inescapable hold for now. The last thing she needed was more ammunition to use against her. Though... it was probably wise that she actually be getting to the Palsa Hydrasa sooner rather than later.

"In any event Elsa, I have work to be done elsewhere. I trust we will talk again later." Anna said, pushing off against the workplace and obviously getting ready to depart.

She really had things she needed to ponder over today, plots to weave and certainly implications to consider. This was a bit of a difficult situation she was being placed in now, one that could very well spell disaster if she didn't watch her step.

Bond of Blood [Elsa]

Postby Elsa Marin on January 8th, 2014, 3:24 am

Elsa's ever-present smile slipped for just a second when Anna revealed the truth of Sahovan hygiene to her. Surprise, disgust, then horror, flicked across her face, and then her smile returned, not quite so excited. The wonder of Sahova soured quickly when she counted how much soap she'd brought and realized it was nowhere near enough. The thought of ending up looking and smelling like some Nuit was almost too horrible for her to bear. She stood there for a long moment, simply frozen by the thought.

Anna's imminent departure shook Elsa out of her fugue. "Wait!" Setting her worries about cleanliness aside, Elsa wrapped her arms around her sister in a farewell hug. "I missed you, Anna. I love you."

I enjoyed this little thread. It held a different dynamic for each character. For Anna this was a thread of planning and damage control. As soon as Elsa appeared I could see the little wheels going in Anna's head. For Elsa, almost entirely oblivious to Anna's fear, this was a sort of meet and greet but not so much with Anna but the concept of Sahova itself. A very interesting thread all in all. I hope I get to see more of the Marin sisters in the future.
