A quick glance at Rinya’s face and Rosela hummed thoughtfully, running through palettes for brown eyes. ”Let’s see, something in a nice chocolate…” Two hands fluttered over folded piles of dresses. ”Something with some nice highlights, so you don’t look too pale? I had something chocolate on cream here… Aha.” Four hands lifting up the top half of the pile, she pulled out a flouncy little affair with a high waist and a riot of ruffles at the knees. ”A little cutsie, almost baby doll. A little different than what you got last time, but isn’t dressing up what Beautyfest is for?” She tossed a hand whimsically, seeing in her mind’s eye her own dress, a sleek line of burgundy velvet, unfortunately not yet made.
”Oh, or maybe you want something a little less childish…” It was an adult event after all, she thought. ” How about…something like this?” Searching hands found a creamy cotton dress with a tilted hem and only a thin black belt for a waistline. ”It’ll give you a little more of a streamline look, something a little less playful.” Spreading it out, she laid it out next to the first dress on top of the stacks of clothing.
”So, ahem,” She raised her voice slightly to involve Jorin in the conversation. He irked her, no question, but it felt unnatural to completely ignore anyone standing in the middle of the store. ”You two are…together?” She could easily guess so, given their contact walking in, but saying these things out loud was the first step to getting details. ”I hear Beautyfest is just lovely for couples. Music, dancing, lanterns on the beach…” She sighed and looked up in memory, one hand planting on her hip. ”I’d only just arrived in the city when it came around last year – hardly knew what was going on. You can bet though,” She leaned close to Rinya with a sly smile. ”I’m getting some of that free makeup this year.”
Part of her wanted to commiserate over the acquisition of beaded necklaces, something that had been grand fun the year before. However, it was fairly obvious that Rinya wasn’t the type to be giving out kisses for beads, at least not when her thin, nervous-looking man was around. Returning to the subject at hand, she waved a hand over the presented dresses. ”So, what do you think? Long, short, pale, dark…”
