Character's Name Kiltrin Hikory Character's Name Kiltrin Hikory Physical Information Race: mixed blood – human and Chaktawe Birthday & Age : 482 AV (27 yrs) Gender: male Physical Description Kiltrin chose his profession due to his physical attributes; a small, weak frame with little room for muscle development or flexibility. He was born prematurely, which most healers blame for his lack of physical prowess. His great-grandfather was a Chaktawe, and his face reflects this somewhat; dark eyes and hair on a tanned canvas, with dark, thin lips and prominent cheekbones. His premature birth is likely the cause of his physical deformity, too; one leg never quite grew as strong or well as the other, hence his limp and preference for walking with a cane, though he can manage without one if absolutely necessary. Character Concept Kiltrin would have been a quiet teacher, full of wisdom and faith, had he been born in any other time. As it is, he still enjoys the attention when children ask him of his work or his opinions, but few adults look on him with anything but pity.Although the children sometimes tease him for his deformity, it is in much the same way that schoolchildren 'hate' and mock and are a little afraid of their teacher, but none truly feel them any enmity. Because of this, he feels a great deal of bitterness and resentment towards most of the peoples he lives among. However, he is much too shy to voice or even show these emotions, often resorting to bantering with people in his head and obsessing over 'what he should have said' long after the conversations are over. He does have an ace-in-the-hole, though; his position as a scribe for the city, as well as a scholar in his own time, lends him a certain degree of officiousness and authority, though how much is real and how much assumed by him is often vague, and he is a stickler for the rules. If one can find his soft spots- children, justice, and most thing cute and cuddly- he can be a valuable and loyal ally. But still quite annoying. On the downside, his sheltered upbringing and subsequent refusal to go out into the world at all has made him quite jaded and immature, and prone to panic in unfamiliar situations. Character History According to his grandmother, her father was a Chaktawe who wooed her mother with desert flowers and tales of foreign lands. Though their union was brief, Kiltrin's great-grandmother was overjoyed when she learned she was with child and refused to give the baby up, though her father was anxious to conceal the fact that his daughter had coupled outside marriage. Indeed, he would have demanded that the man marry her, had he not already moved on. Kiltrin's great-grandmother refused to tell them the name of the man as well, and so was ostracised, and raised Kiltrin's grandmother alone. Kiltrin has never been told who his ancestors are, on either side. It is these stories of the travelling Chaktawe that enchanted and enthralled him as a child, and since he has dedicated his life to the acquisition of knowledge concerning them, in the hopes that they would be more accepting of him than the peoples of his hometown Syliras. As a consequence, actually experiencing life was put to the side and never really embraced.
