Appearance Credit goes to littleulvar for the wonderful character portraits.Race: Human, Svefra
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Birthday: 71st of Winter, 490 AV
Birthplace: Midst the seas.
Appearance: Shon is not a creature of subtlety when it comes to appearances. In fact, a cursory glance is all it should take for one to identify the Svefran blood running deep in his veins. Sun bleached lengths of auburn hair cascade haphazardly across tan, freckled shoulders, accented by a trio of dreadlocks he keeps knotted with bits of scarlet string just above the crest of his right ear. His beard is a manageable mess of a line that runs the length of his jaw, ending in two small braids that hang beneath his chin, and carries along a musk reminiscent of the deep sea.
With no lack of nourishment to keep him going, Shon's build is a healthy one, tailored for the waters he loves to swim. A host of tattoos paint his right arm, and as much as the Svefran would tell you they held special meaning, are in truth no more than the accumulation of practice strokes left by those in his pod who pursued the art and required a blank canvas. All too headstrong at a young age to cower to the pain they would cause him, they are now little more than a permanent stain on his skin; memories he would sooner cherish, however, than regret.
As with all Svefra, Shon possesses a pair of brilliant blue eyes that are prone to warming an easy smile, lips often twisted in such a way that makes one think he has found all of life's little oddities humorous in some way. This, as it so happens, is not far from the truth.
ConceptReckless, carefree, and at a lack for social grace, Shon embodies the free spirit of the Svefra...or so he would have you believe. In truth, there is another side to the devout of Laviku that is not often shown, and lies somewhere between reverent disciple and worldly scholar.
It is a quiet part of him that has appreciation for all things, and loves deeply of the world around him. It casts a silver lining behind all his actions, and makes Shon likable to those who have an open mind to the more roughly shaped character he flaunts. Only rarely does it present itself, and never in the knowing presence of others, save for those who are closest to him.
TavanA sea lion that goes by many perverse names if one spends enough time in the presence of Shon. While
Rishun is the sea creature's actual name, Shon himself rarely addresses the little hellion as such. Always the object of lighthearted grief for the Svefran, the two met during the djed storm of 512 and have fostered an...
interesting bond ever since.
HistoryThere is little to tell of Shon's life, before the storm, that would not dull a reader's mind. He was born to this world a healthy sea pup, nurtured by love and encouragement from a pod that welcomed his antics at a young age. He was taught to respect the sea, and revere Laviku as his spiritual guide and benefactor. To this end, he earned his first mark at an early age, and was grateful to be welcomed as one of the god's own.
There were times of hardship, of course, but nothing that cowed the determination of his people to thrive on the sea. They lived what some considered an enchanted life, Stormbreakers numbering high among their kind, and well respected within most circles. It was a life of privilege for Shon, and one that he remembers fondly, untarnished by what would come when the djed storm tore his life asunder.

GnosisOceanus - 1 mark: Marked individuals can first and foremost spot Otani readily. Otani will recognize them and often seek them out to play and communicate. Individuals with one Laviku mark can also drink salt water and have the mark automatically convert it to fresh water for ocean survival. Individuals know the direction of the sea if they are on land and how far away it is (in approx miles). They also immediately recognize where progression tide is, meaning if it is incoming or outgoing or in transition between.

Heirloom: Cutlass - An inheritance of sorts, the sword was no more than a decorative piece hanging upon the wall in the cabin of his Lia's ship for generations. When the djed storm came to wipe away his pod's existence however, it became a tool used to sever the ropes promising to drag Shon down to the bottom of the drink. These days he keeps it sheathed at his side, and has given it a name for its honorable service:
Threadcleaver.HousingHouse: The Loveless - A small casinor of little consequence to the wandering eye. It keeps Shon warm when he is cold, and wet when he rather wishes he were dry.
