Evening Brawl

23rd of Winter, 513 AV. 30 chimes past the 17th bell.

Jax walked into the inn, pulling his coat further over his shoulders to try and combat the cold air that drifted in alongside him. He looked about his surroundings. It was just a simple, run-of-the-mill inn. Not very full, but not empty either. Jax sauntered over to the bar and took a seat. There wasn't a barman in sight. He pulled the hood down from his head and looked about his surroundings. Nothing of interest. He ran a hand through his blue hair and then shook it about, loosening it up so it fell over a majority of his face. Jax cupped his hands over his mouth and yawned somewhat loudly, turning some of the patron's heads. He rubbed his eyes and sighed. Nobody looked like they had enough money that was worth Jax's time to steal.

A few minutes later, a man came walking out of the lavatory rather obnoxiously. He took a seat multiple chairs down from Jax. The man pounded his fist off the bar twice and the barman came running from the backroom to serve him. The man ordered an ale. Jax looked the man up and down and saw something that caught his eye. A pouch of coins hanging from his waist. A smile formed across Jax's face but he quickly stopped since he'd probably get caught and spook the guy. As the barman delivered Jax's victim's ale, Jax stood up as if he were to leave.

Jax slowly walked towards the man, staying behind him and out of his line of sight. He checked that nobody was looking as he inched closer and closer to his target. The barman was cleaning mugs with his back turned to them and the rest of the patrons were too engrossed in their activities to pay any attention. Jax outstretched his hand for the pouch and gripped it. He pulled as hard as he could. The small rope that held the pouch onto the man's waist did not break. The man turned around and stood, squaring up to Jax. He was much bigger than Jax had first perceived him. "Were you trying to steal my money, you scoundrel?"
"No, no, si.--" Jax attempted to lie his way out but to no avail.
The man threw a vicious punch into Jax's face.

Evening Brawl

It was so sudden. The punch had knocked Jax flat on his behind. It had hit him just below his right eye and it hurt like hell. He could feel his eye swell almost instantly, hindering him greatly. His head was spinning and he could hear a loud ringing sound in his ears. The world around him was just a blur of colours and odd shapes. The adrenaline surged through Jax's body, urging him to fight back.

Jax felt something in his left hand. Soft, velvet-like. And then he realised... he'd managed to have kept hold of the coin pouch through the punch. If only he could stand up and get to the exit. He turned onto his belly and attempted to crawl away, but the man who'd hit him grabbed Jax's leg and pulled him back. Jax realised he had no choice but to stay and fight if he wanted to get away in one piece.

Jax turned himself again onto his back and brought his right foot back into his chest. He proceeded to slam the foot into his assailant's gut, connecting with a somewhat satisfactory thud. He felt the grip on his other foot release almost instantly. Jax took the moment to put his right hand behind him and pushed himself up onto his feet. He took up a fighting stance as the man caught his breath after being winded.

Jax eyed up the man who stood between him and the door. Between Jax and freedom. He was a light-skinned male with short blonde hair. An albino. He was wearing a beige long-sleeved shirt, brown bottoms and a pair of black boots that could do serious damage if Jax came into contact with them. Something glistened on his waist. A dagger. It had a simple wooden hilt but a cruel-looking blade was attached onto the end of it. The man noticed Jax looked at it and drew it into his left hand, with a devilish smile to accompany it.

Jax inched closer to the dagger-wielding maniac with extra caution. The man was the first to attack, swiping the air infront of Jax with the dagger. Jax moved to the side almost instantly but the attacker followed up with a punch into Jax's chest which sent him tumbling backwards into a table, making Jax drop the coin pouch in the process. The man lunged at Jax with the dagger but Jax rolled out the way just in time. He regained his footing and grabbed an ale mug. Jax smashed the mug over the man's head and watched him go down. Blood pooled around the man's head but Jax could see he was still breathing and not dead or unconscious.

Jax watched as the man attempted to grab the dagger with his right hand but was not quick enough. Jax stepped on the man's wrist and picked up the dagger first. The man suddenly flipped onto his back, a wood plank in hand from a broken chair. He threw it at Jax with all his might but missed. Jax instictively bent down over the man's hand and brought the knife down into his hand. The blade went right through and drove into the floorboard. Jax took this as his chance to escape. He picked up the coin pouch and made for the door. Jax pulled the door open and stepped out, limping away in the snow and darkness.
A crook, a killer, a thief and a liar.
