Singers/Musicians?

For some reason the old, crappy Mac at work will not let me upload on anything but this site...which is okay I guess, better something than nothing.

So these are just some fun jams with friends. Nothing professional or fancy. I mean, heck, the acapella song was recorded on my phone at 1 am But it was lots of fun, which is all that matters, and I feel lucky to have a few people around who enjoy hanging out like this

Well, I may as well throw my two cents in!

So, I know virtually nothing about music, but I write songs here on Mizahar, and occasionally write songs for myself. I love writing lyrics the most, but do end up coming up with melodies just to make sure the words flow. So, I count as a music person, right? o.o

As for singing, I sing in the shower! I'm not terribly good. I used to be worse, though. In middle school choir, I was told by the other girls not to sing ever, so that broke my confidence on it. Admittedly, one of them heard my singing in the hall some years later and said I sounded better, so that's nice.

One idea I've churned for a while, is finding musically talented folks like yourself, someone with a good voice, someone with good instrumental skills, and recording full arrangements of the songs I've written for Mizahar. It just seems like so much fun. Anyone in here interested in helping with that? And obviously, if you've also written songs for Miza, those would also be in for arranging.

I would love to collaborate with you! That is the very thing I hoped to find here on Miz, since we've got just about everything BUT music. Do you have any arrangements I could sample a little flavor of? I can play almost anything, and I will sing anything you allow me to haha.

Awesome! Ideally, I would like to hear other people's ideas on arrangements, but I'm willing to put in the rough melody.

If people want, I can put up some songs I've written in here, or we can move it to a different thread. We can also trade skypes around, and try to do some basic melody discussion over skype, where we can hear each other. That will be the only way I can share whatever melody ideas I have, as I have no knowledge of sheet music.

Actually, if you need help with composition/sheet music in general, I could help out a little. I have the benefit of years playing the piano and trying to compose something. Though my compositions do tend towards the classical or downright bizarre.

Oh, and Vanari, I never realised how much the melodica (I played one back when I was in primary school for my music lessons) sounded like an accordion. What did you use to record them?

Alright! Right now, I have a Svefra Sea Shanty cowritten with Stefan, and a prayer song for Yshul. I still need to write an anthem for the Icewatch in Avanthal, which I expect to be quite long, and a psalm for Zintila for Lhavitans.

Well, I play drums, I'm trying to learn to play mandolin, and I actually sing, principally opera, but I'll give a shot at anything you ask me.
