Voldaire Cassiope
Appearance Race: Symenestra Gender: Male Age: Twenty Birthday: 47th of Spring, 493 Birthplace: Kalinor Description: A genetic paragon of his race, Voldaire carries himself with a towering, six-foot posture. On his lithe form, pallid skin gives way to void-black hair and proud, amethyst eyes. His obsidian nails are like black crescent moons, feeding from the purple veins that spiderweb across his hands and swim on his milky limbs. His features are small and tight against his face, giving him an austere, somber glower. His thin lips cage bulging arachnid fangs, easily shown under his gentle overbite. Character History In the final strand of the dying Cassiope web, Voldaire is the youngest of three siblings. His father, Darvallo, was the eldest brother of the once-proud Cassiope web, but his greed for women starved his siblings of mates, resulting in Voldaire's generation facing extinction of the Cassiope name. Voldaire's father never had a proper Symenestran wife to raise his children with, so his sister, Yesina, helped raise Voldaire's two older siblings, Noralei and Vendalor. In the process of raising them, Darvallo and Yesina fell in love, and accidentally created Voldaire, a pure-blooded Symenestra. However, in the process of being born, Voldaire was initiated into the curse of his blood, poisoning and killing his mother. Everyone in the Cassiope web blamed Voldaire, resulting in his childhood being torturous and abusive. The only one who was kind to him was Noralei, his older sister. However, as they all three grew up, it became apparent that Noralei and Vendalor were falling in love like their parents, and the entire web became grief-stricken. Some kind of incestuous curse seemed to be plaguing the Cassiope web, also resulting in Voldaire's demented thoughts about his long-dead mother. Vendalor left Kalinor as soon as he could, in order to begin his harvest and bring back surrogates to expand the dying Cassiope web, and to take his lovesick heart far from Noralei. Noralei resigned herself to religion, and spends her days studying and following the Viratassa, caring for the sometimes-unstable Voldaire. Voldaire's passive interest in voiding turned into an addiction at a young age, and the young Symenestra was largely left alone to lead his own life in the shadows of Kalinor's empty caves, sometimes retreating to the safety of his sister. However, an urgent letter from his brother has given Voldaire a chance to redeem himself in the eyes of his web, rousing Voldaire to begin his own harvest. Character Concept Voldaire is striving for redemption for a deed he commit at birth: killing his mother. From a web of ill-love, Voldaire's generation struggles with many family issues, resulting in Voldaire being highly irregular and erratic for a Symenestra. He is brash and cheeky, but also morbid and lucid. He is currently struggling with an addiction to voiding, and he spends much of his time opening and closing small portals. The hallucinations and voices from voiding have grown comforting to him, and he overgives frequently in order to hear the Sweet Whispers, which he believes come from his dead mother. This has had a damaging effect on Voldaire's health, and his once-toned hunter physique has grown rail-thin and meek. Voldaire is currently attempting to navigate the complicated relationships of his family and reintegrate himself into Symenestran society. He has come to the conclusion that succeeding in a harvest will redeem himself in the eyes of his family and give his life purpose. He hopes that if he finds a surrogate before Vendalor, perhaps Noralei would help him raise the child. Mental Languages

Heirloom
A silk-threaded opalgloam spider pendant, belonging to his deceased mother. It has been in the Cassiope web for several generations. After Yesina died, the web gave it to Noralei. Noralei gave the pendant to Voldaire in an act that Voldaire interpreted as a verbal agreement to raise a child with him. Housing
Location: Kalinor House: A small, jagged stalactite clustered near others belonging to the Cassiope web. There are no glass windows, only the glow of opalgloams, and the single bedroom inside is padded with dark, draping silks. The home is teardrop-shaped and bone-dry. There are small holes in most of the furniture and silks, and an opening near the top hosts a rear silk balcony. Furniture:
