"I will find peace within the future, This is what drives me forward."
47th of Winter, AV 513
Miu woke to the sound of her trap snapping taunt as the rope pulled back snapping the stick as it yanked her prey up into the air by its back leg in its panic, it would dangle above the snow covered ground, The gray hare squealed squirming and kicking with its matted fur fluffing up in its panic like a angered cat.
Miu groaned not really in the mood to deal with her life, she had been in a depression lately with her constant need to hunt and build, she wanted to relax and just rest.
She rolled over on her bed roll pulling her blanket closer, it was cold...
Rowan huffed outside the four person black tent, it was starting to sink with snow that covered the top of it, she hasn't cleared out her camp and kicked the snow off. She had been only fixing her traps after they had been set off, brining in her constant supply of food that she was starting to salt in hopes of keeping her meat rolled up in deer skin made for this purpose only to be stained by blood.
She rubbed at her eyes sitting up as she pulled the covers off her, pulling her boots on in her haze and confused stupor as she pulled on her leather jacket with one hand while she attempted to tie her leather knee high boots up yawning.
Her attempts failed as she got tangled in her black long sleeved shirt with fur sewed on the inside from her almost decent handy work with the needle she had hallowed out from the bones she had picked out of the skinned mess of her prey she trapped with the five traps around her camp site that were all simple for now, she hunted with a long bow and arrows that were getting low. She had only three left and wanted to use them wisely.
She used deer skin to set her traps in thin strips cut with her now almost dull eating knife, the camp was coming along with her stove made of rocks balanced into a makeshift square with a opening that billowed smoke from its mouth with two sticks stuffed into the cold ground forcefully with her stake mallet that was leaned against a wide tree with her shovel covered in mud from her digging up roots and rabbit holes. She had smashed open the near by stream to fish and used her stake mallet to make the frame of her clay hut.
She had slaved under the hot sun for hours hammering the sharp sticks into the mud days before, She had sewen together pelts and furs to cover the frame with a metal pole in the middle of the hut to hold up the frame of sturdy sticks and branches tied together with strips of rabbit skin, grass and whatever rope she could spare before she had covered it with the furs she had sewen together with a even worse needle she had widdled out of wood that didn't work that well, the bone was much more efficient.
She had made sure the vent in the top of the hut made of a web of carefully tied together sticks that were the last touch before she had started to spread clay over the frame carefully, evenly and delicately. She had worked up from the bottom and was finally finished with a fire burning inside to melt the cold snow and warmth the dirt floor while hardening the clay from the inside out.
She hoped to be sleeping in the hut that night, she was excited and couldn't wait to take down her tent and move into the warmer shelter that kept her from the wind, she was starting to doze as she slumped against the tree outside the tent. "Rowan..." She mumbled wondering where her cream colored mare was, she was patched with white, her nose was black spotted with pink. She was grazing, digging for greens beneath the snow.
The trap came back to mind and she got up going to where she had heard it, it had been at least a month since she had gotten to riverfall and didn't need her compass but still carried it in her leather pack that matched her knee high boots and leather jacket, a dark chocolate brown.
Her black pants were stuffed into her leather boots, her pants had pockets that strapped shut on her hips that held her needles, nails and clutter like special rocks that catched her eye. She crept forward brushing her white hair out of her gray eyes that watched the forest as she pulled her arrow back.
Her long bow was crafted skillfully and she often tried to carve designs into the wood, birds and flowers already deeply etched into the wood, she looked around cautiously before turning to her trap as she took out her knife she had stuffed into her belt, wearing her black gloves to protect her hands. "... I swear if someone does this again..."
She growled throwing down her pack as she went over to what she believed to be the work of a fool worrying over her food, it looked like the rabbit had been cut loose by whoever had been messing with her for weeks, "Son of a--" she was cut off as she noticed blood trailing from where she was.
In that moment a roar took her by surprise and she realized it all like a puzzle suddenly coming together, Weird tracks. Rabbits going missing. Cut trap... She saw it in her mind at once as the shocking creature before her burst out of the bushes, it had woken up early, it was hungry... It had gotten up on its hind legs and clawed down the rabbit making it look like someone with a blunt knife sawing through her rope...
She screamed in surprise backing up before she was swatted into a tree making another scream surface, her bow had been knocked Into the bushes and she could feel the burning pain of the claws in her side as she looked up in fear at the big brown bear that growled at her in annoyence, she covered her face as it raised to slam its claws into her face.
She rolled away as it's massive paw crashed into the tree above where her head had been, "You thieving slag!" She shouted at it in her flash of temper grabbing a sharp rock as she lunged at it, backing off in the last second, it seemed confused then as she side stepped throwing the rock right into its face before stumbling over a rock,
Rowan came in from behind, charging into its back as it roared in pain, Miu has to act fast as it turned onto her mare in anger. She held her side feeling blood starting to bleed through. "Oi! It took me forever to sew up this!" She shouted at it stabbing it quickly with her eating knife before scrampling to find her bow. "I'll have your pelt! You'll be a rug!" She aimed at the now charging beast seeing Rowan get away out of the corner of her eye.
