A surreal cavern city inhabited by Symenestra where stones glow and streets are reams of silk. Cocoon like structures hang between stalactites and cascade over limestone flows in organic and eerie arabesques. Without a Symenestra willing to escort you, entrance is impossible.

Kalinor
Outside the newly constructed Opsum Home

In a city as small as Kalinor, Rumors spread like wildfire. Many had heard tell of an increase of resident Zith in the city, but most wrote them off as ghost stories, rumors, likely put in place by the esterians to cause unrest. So very few gave a thought to the construction of a new building within the underground city. The masquerade was written off as a fluke, a sputter, and by some, even a conspiriscy. No one was willing to let their city fall into an uproar as it had over the past few season. Rather fear or courage, the Symenestra held true to their resolve. That is, until rumors of the Opsum Home's true purpose were confirmed by the ruling couple. And now a great crowd gathers before the home of the Zith. And so must the Ochya, creating a protective barrier around the building's stone face and single silken cord, to keep the masses of people from storming the place.

"My children are not safe!" Cries an eldery silver haired Symenestra. "None of us are so long as we let animals reside within our walls!"

And she was not alone. At least twenty Symenestra were clustered on the building's roof, in an attempt to push past and evict its residents. Five ochya stood gaurd outside the spire's entrance, ensuring that Kalinor's citizens did not climb inside.

Vass Vervein smacked his spear against the buildings roof and raised his voice to a deep yell.

"Return to your homes. The construction of this place was sanctioned by Nessora and-"

"We are not safe!" Shouted Demyan Anice. He furled his brow and turned to the other Symenestra, who were all attempting to shout over eachother.

Vass Slammed his spear against the roof again and shouted into the crowd. "Return to your homes!"

Opsum Be Gone!

Vyvian perched in the distance, a smirk across his face.

As much as he didn't like Scorn, this was amusing. It's times like these when he thinks about his species' morality.

Or lack thereof.

People just didn't like change. The esterians were shunned even though their methods would save the Symenestra species, and now the Zith, who in all fairness didn't intentionally insult anyone here, even Scorn and himself.

Vyvian tilted his head to one side as he watched the commotion, his hair covering half his face. If change happens all the time, and it does, then why don't people accept it? It's going to happen whether they like it or not. One day his kind will leave this cave, for whatever reason, so why resist it? Why not travel now while its painless?

A faint whisper of a frown crossed his face. After that dream he really wanted to do some travelling. Pulling his hood deeper over his face, he continued to watch in amusement, hiding in the shadows.

A dark scarlet scar in the pale shadows.

Opsum Be Gone!

76th of Winter, 513 AV

Voldaire had just finished Voiding in an empty crevice when he decided to take the public way back to his stalactite. At the end of the alley, several shadows darted passed, and the air swelled with a clamor of noise and commotion. The young Symenestra jogged and took the corner, encountering the raging crowd outside of Opsum Home. Due to the nature of Symenestra, keeping the mob out of the building looked nearly impossible. Someone pushed past Voldaire.

"Nessora, how could you betray us?" a frantic Symenestra woman moaned, clutching her squealing ash-gray infant.

"Down with Opsum!" The crowd swelled.

Voldaire was packed in by the crowd, painfully jostled between some of the more enraged Kalinor citizens. I have to get out of here! Voldaire squirmed his way to the wall and attempt to scale the surface away from commotion, but the Symenestra were swarming the entire surface of the cavern like a startled nest of hostile insects.

What is this Opsum House? What did they do? Voltaire's brain burned in feverish thought, but the churning sea of Symenestra drowned out his mental faculties. I had just burned away all my troubles in the Void. What a waste. He scanned over the structure and tried to make out the state of the situation through the chaos.
