Day 23, Spring 496
Dallen's mother opened the door, and with a pained cheerful smile to Dallen, closed the warped wooden door to their home. Bored and disgruntled by her sudden flight, Dallen rubbed his eyes and sat up on his chair, swinging his legs in the air below. Moving over to the table, which Dallen could just start to see over the top of, he reached up and searched for food with his hand, and finally finding a sizable piece of stale bread, started munching on the crunchy bread. Moving over to the door, he had to stand on his tiptoes to reach the latch, and when he had pulled it down, he pushed, having to force the warped wood upon its hinges. Kicking the door shut, Dallen looked out into the dusty street, and munching on the bread, glimpsed his mother heading off to work. Shrugging, Dallen walked over to the house next door, which was connected by a common wall. Knocking briefly before barging in, Dallen looked around for the other child who apparently lived here. Ignoring some strange noise coming from a locked room, Dallen looked around for Daniel.
