The labor aid office looked relatively empty from the outside, but Shijara saw a few Akalak children enter, no doubt ready to start contributing to their city. Shijara walked behind them, her tiny footsteps pattering softly in comparison to the youths, and she poked her head in through the door frame, looking around. She followed the dark skinned children almost shyly, smiling and nodding when they saw her. A sense of uneasiness crept into her, a nervousness about what they would think. Shijara had not met a single Chaktawe since arriving, and while surely there must have been some, she imagined herself to be somewhat of an oddity. It would have been no surprise to her if they were unsettled by her eyes. But surprisingly, they weren't.
She smiled back politely and then turned to finish their forms. As she stood there, she felt quite... small. Being a petite female only seemed more obvious next to those who would grow larger than life. When it was her turn to take a step forward, she found herself unconsciously standing on her tiptoes, moving up to the desk. Her eyes had locked in on the potential forms on the desk. She looked up, long lashes exposing black eyes, "Hi," she cleared her throat, "Can I have work form please?"
She smiled to lessen her nerves. After all, what ever she was assigned would be a way for her to make a living for at least the next few weeks. One of the males spoke up after Shijara waited patiently. Her ears perked in response, "Please fill out the following..."
"Thank you," Shijara looked down at the form. It was short enough. Simple. She could do this. She felt a looming presence behind her, and noticed that an Akalak was waiting behind her. "Oh, sorry." she sidestepped and looked back at the twins, "I, uh, can I...?" Shijara paused, looking around and spotting a pen and ink not far away, "I'm just...,'" Shijara snatched up the items, momentarily unsure if she was allowed to take it, but then decided it must be for the public use, "I will stop talking now." She quickly walked over to where some of the seats were and sat down to begin filling out the form.

Shijara looked unsure in her answers. As she filled out the paper, she realized that perhaps she wasn't as skilled as she thought.
Wilderness Survival? They weren't in the wild. But perhaps Sonnet would enjoy poking fun of her if she was able to dance. And art was okay. She took a deep breath and went to turn in her paperwork. Hopefully, they found something she could do.
She watched the Akalak man from earlier leave, and moved back to the desk, handing over the slip, "I guess this is it." She smiled and waited.
