APPEARANCE Race: Human Gender: Female Age: 21 Birthday: 11th of Winter, 492 AV Birthplace: Syliras Only slightly taller than the average human woman at 5’8”, Hanna Houtman is perfectly ordinary in most ways. Her face is pretty, but plain, with a round face, full lips, and a slightly broader nose than most. Perhaps the most remarkable feature in Hanna at first glance is that her hair, skin, and eyes are all roughly the same shade of light brown; closer inspection would reveal that her hair is slightly darker, and her eyes lighter, although Hanna herself is probably the only person who’s cared enough to notice this slight variation. Hanna is inordinately proud of her hair, taking care to brush it as often as she can and leaving it down whenever she can get away with it. When she must put it up, she takes more time than necessary to weave it into an intricate knot of braids and artfully loose strands. CONCEPT and HISTORY The daughter of a trader and a hunter, Hanna grew up with a healthy respect for both the value of wealth and the value of hard labor. Alongside her older brother Marten, Hanna was trained from her mid-teens in how to help around the family’s business selling hides. Although the Bronze Woods are a dangerous place, her father allowed Hanna and her brother to accompany him on only one of his treks into the woods, and even then it was a short trip that gave Hanna very little practical knowledge of how to actually go about hunting. Even so, her father has given Hanna many demonstrations safe within the walls of the citadel, and she’s managed to glean a bit of theoretical information out of him on fletching and using a short bow. Hanna could easily be described as the brains to her brother’s brawn: she rushes into things much more quickly than he does, and is infinitely more likely to start a fight when provoked. When she isn’t angered, Hanna is quiet and reserved, often appearing uninterested in her surroundings whether it’s the truth or not.
