OOCIt's fine. His mind was still racing. There wasn't a petching chance to win a fight against a squire, with such a large weapon, and absolutely no skill in using his blade, or much of any combat except with his bow. If his tactics were to fail, this could turn into a very dangerous fight - and although Cromley didn't know, if he managed to get a swing with his Kopis, he may not be able to pull it back in time before it potentially seriously injured the squire. But, vice versa, he couldn't help but wonder what was stopping the mace from seriously injuring him should he not be fast enough to jump back or at least evade the heavy spiked ball. This is going to be a very interesting battle. Or, it would be. He reacted to the lunge before he could see the mace, and did exactly as he had done the last time - he took a quick step backwards, although this time it was more out of actual thought than simple reflex. That, at least, was enough. It was only after the step that he noticed the swinging attack for his legs, which sailed through empty air again. His plan was working - not in the way that he'd really wanted it to, and the plan itself was crude and had many mistakes - what if the squire picked up the advances, forcing him into a constant backtracking across the entire forest? He needed to be faster, but he wasn't. He'd just need to find a way around the mace. The same swipe, though; he'd made the same swipe twice, which made him think.. could he use the blunt weapon to his advantage? Maybe, the next swipe, he could step in after the attack.. the shield would have been problematic if his weapon wasn't so small that he could grab the shield with one hand and hold it in place while the knife slid around it. Yes.. especially if he waited until after the strike, when his right arm would be over the left side of his body, making a recovery very awkward... He could do this. He just needed an opportunity. Maybe. If he didn't get it right, though - he knew that anything unexpected would mean his ultimate loss. It would be fine, though. He had no experience in a weapon like this, he would be accept a loss in a battle with a much more experienced partner as his due. That didn't mean that he was going to simply lie down and wait for the petching moron to slam the mace in his jaw, though. "Go on. Hit me already." |
