Sterling Theron Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 21 Birthday: 09, Autumn, 492. Birthplace: Syliras Appearance: Unusually tall at 6'2'' and 185lbs Sterling is built like whipcord, lean but muscular. He has light blue eyes and light brown hair that bleachs near blond in the summer months. His skin is fair in nature and therefore has a red tint to it's tan aquired through living his life constantly outdoors. Character Concept Sterling is an intelligent and reserved person. Although he is easy to get along with and to talk to he does not make true friends easily. He can talk easily, joke frequently, and offer advice to complete strangers with unusual insight into their issues. Because of this people may spend considerable time with him feeling as though they are very close when in reality not much of Sterling's personality or true feelings have been revealed. Sterling is agil, both in body and mind, which allows him to learn quickly by simply hearing or watching demonstrations. While his tempermant is easy going almost all of the time he is stubborn and can become suddenly angry or offended if someone implies he is weak or stupid. When his temper is flared he has a tendancy to push people away firmly until he has had time to calm down. Sterling rarely asks, or feels that he needs help. He is often guilty of holding himself completely responsible for consequences that may or may not have been under his control. While he is not against violence when defending what he feels is right Sterling avoids physical confrontation in most encounters. He feels tact and wit are the most powerful weapons. Because of this he has a keen interest in the healing art, spending much of his free time studying herbology, anatomy/physiology, and suvival techniques. He feels the noblest war is the one waged on suffering and sickness. Sterling is unconfrontationally adverse to dieties. Believing that all power comes from knowledge and that with knowledge comes the responsibility to teach other's this knowledge, Sterling sees the gods as abusers of this power. Even Rak'keli he refuses to worship claiming that he would rather spend his life learning the healing art slowly himself than gain all the knowledge Rak'keli could give him only to be bound to practicing it in the way she sees fit. Character History Sterling is the only child of Karen and Gary Theron. Sterling's mother Karen died in child birth. Sterling was raised by his father till he was 12 years old when he left his father one night after Gary had drunk himself into a deep slumber. Gary had a terrible temper and spent many nights in the Tank in Syliras' Jordon district. Because of this when Gary was home it usually meant physical punishment for Sterling and he learned quickly that when his father was home he shouldn't be. It was during this time when Sterling started delving into the healing arts for the first time. After fleeing the unrelenting blows of his deranged father he would find himself a dark corner where he could tend to his cuts and bruises. He learned if he picked the moss that grew on the northern side of brick buildings and let it dry for a day it worked marvelously as a dressing to cuts and abrasions. Similarly his bruises healed quicker when he chewed the bark of the aspen trees that grew just outside the cities boundaries. The trick there was to find the trees that grew close enough to the city that he could quickly retreat if anything came at him from the woods. After returning to his fathers apartment three days after leaving him drunk on the floor Sterling discovered his father had actually drunk himself to death that night. Sterling sold his father's possessions to pay for his cremation and disposal. After this he used the rest of the money to buy himself an apartment in the Maiden District as well as a few books on herbology, anatomy, physiology, and medicine. Because much of his childhood was spent on the outskirts of town Sterling has chosen to make his living off the surrounding area of Sylira. Using his father's hunting bow he has made a living for the past 9 years by hunting for game and selling his wares to Alben the butcher and the occassional pelt to All Things Leather.
