Misty's attack is going to hit! No, at the last second Tav moves his hand. Disappointment again goes through Misty. During this slight relapse in concentration, Tav's sheath hits her hand, and sends the dagger flying. It sticks in the dirt, and Misty goes to retrieve it. "I guess I couldn't be expected to defeat a sowrdsman that's been learning all his life, whereas I just began," she calls to Tavil. Bending over to retrieve the dagger, Misty feels slightly better. She made good progress, even managing to hit Tav once. That's better than expected, after all. Feeling slightly tired from the sparring and Res use, she goes to sit next to Tav. "Any further advice, oh wise master?"

A grin spreads across my face as I sheath my sword. "It's alright. You did well for a beginner. You just need practice." I sit on the ground, laying my sword next to me. Hearing Misty's question, I laugh quietly. "I have little more advice. Simply practice and keep your focus. Also, you may want to find a proper teacher if you feel that your skill is developing too slowly." I laugh at my last remark, but the seriousness of it remains. "What should we do now? We could move further into the Warfields, or we could rest a while. I do not mind either way."

Still somewhat winded from their escapades, Misty decides "Let's rest." Lying on her back, Misty stretches against the pain. She stares at the stars in silence for a little while. Then she says, "Hey, you wanna hear a story?" Not waiting for an answer (Tav ALWAYS wants to hear a story,) she launches into one of her favorites. "Once upon a time...."
There were two young men. Their names were Padexin and Rashir; they were great warriors. The first, Padexin, was a great bowman. It's said that he could hit a target from miles away, but do you know the most interesting part? He was blind! He believed there was music in the land, and each object had its own song; "There is beauty everywhere" he would say. Where there was trouble, Padexin showed up, only to say "The wind brought me. What is wrong?" Some believed that he was indeed a god of wind.
His counterpart was a renowned swordsman named Rashir. Where Padexin was the wind, Rashir was light; he shined every where he went. It was said that he actually emitted light, and used this to his advantage. He would challenge enemies near and far, only to defeat them. There were many, many stories of Rashir and Padexin, both jointly and separate. Here is but one.
One day, as they were traveling the world, they reached a settlement. Padexin noticed something very, very odd. "There is no music." Normally a calm person, he fell into fear; "the music is gone!" Only his friend, Rashir, kept him together, and lead him onward through the darkness, always a pinnacle of light, even to the blind man. Finally, Padexin says "I hear something dark. Evil. That is what is stopping the music." Lead on by his ear, the two walked into a barn. In it, there was a great evil, one that all stories never agree on. Some say that it was the very manifestation of the darkness in man's heart. The two of them, through magic or means unknown, defeated this darkness, and music returned to the land, and the people (all great magicians themselves) thanked them, and became their good friends. Among them was a magician with the power over time; another, a royal with the ability to destroy a heal or man with a word; and many others, with more diverse and strange abilities. Theirs, however, is a different story.
Misty closes her mouth, her voice a bit hoarse from the story. "I wanted to be like him, Tav. I wanted to be the wind; I wanted to become a great bowman. Is that strange? People always model themselves after heroes, do they not?" Not waiting for an answer, Misty turns over and falls asleep, despite the hard ground.

The girl's words bring a smile to my face, and, as she falls asleep, I speak. "Your stories are improving, little one. Keep at it. I always love a tale or two." Once Misty is asleep, I pull my thin blanket from my pack and lay it over her. I suppose I'll be the one to keep watch for now. Though soon enough, I'll need sleep myself. I lean against the hard wall behind me, tracing runes in the dirt next to me. This was an odd habit I'd developed, but it helped me remember what I'd learned.

After some time, my eyes begin to feel heavy. I decide to rest them for a moment, letting them close almost immediately. A calming relief washes over me as I drift into a light sleep, yet, under the circumstances, I remain as alert as a sleeping man can be.

Thwip
The bow shivers slightly as Misty gets a feel for it. She thought of making targets out of the cloth and using gel-like res for glue and padding, as well as a spot of solid res in the center for a refined target. While using res tired her, she was quite careful with how much she used.
Thwip
She could never hit dead center. It comes with practice, she supposes, and practice she would. It was a dangerous world, and while she hoped never to have to kill, it was a possibility, and she may as well be prepared to come out on top of it.
Thwip
She'd spent a lot of the morning practicing. Misty was allowing Tav to rest in recompense for staying up late to watch, as he did every night. She was becoming a little bit soft with Tav always taking care of her. That's alright though, she really appreciated it, and tried to show him that. Yesterday's sparring was a little thank you, in that she was helping him practice his swordsmanship. Or at least, she would when she was better at her dagger. She had picked up both of her daggers, hoping to be able to use them both at the same time, but she could not do it. So she decided to learn one at a time, even if it gave others with longer blades a great advantage.
Thwip
That was the last target she set up. While she originally bought the cloth for fire starting, she figured filling it with holes wouldn't hurt its original purpose too much. Misty goes to retrieve her arrows. The final one chipped some of the solid res a bit. Misty smiles to herself. She was improving.

Misty walks over to where Tavil is sleeping. "Hey, wake up, we got more training to do! The sun is high in the sky, it must be nearly noon lazy bones." Misty leans over him. "Anyone home? .... Sigh. Just know that you made me do this, Tav."
Preparing her mind, Misty stands back up. After a moment of meditation, she raises her palm to face Tav and says "Res, Tavil irst cha." Liquid res sprays out of her hand and onto Tav.

With quite the rude awakening, I snap my head up in surprise, hitting the wall behind me. "AAAAAAGH!" I scream, falling onto my side while cradling my head. "What was that for?!" I ask, immediately alert and awake. I begin cursing in Pavi while grasping at the back of my head. "It was right in my face too..." I say, spitting out what little res had gone in my mouth. Feeling that there's nothing wrong with my head, aside from the throbbing headache that came with my way of waking up, I stand, grasping my sword and resting it on my shoulder.

"Oh, you're just a big grump. Here: Res, abaset." The res dissolves into mist. "No harm done, yeah? You ready to get practicing? Also, I had an idea. Since you have to practice with your runes and whatnot, how about I give you time to set up your stuff? That way, we can both use magic this time. It'll certainly be interesting. Also, I coated my dagger with a thin layer of res so that I can use the blade without worrying about hurting you. Don't worry about me overgiving, I've been making sure to get plenty of rest and stuff whenever I use res, alright?" Putting my bow in my hand, I say "I'm gonna go practice some more shooting. Let me know when you're done glyphing, mkay?"

"That was sudden..." I say in Pavi, slightly annoyed, but I listen anyway. She seemed excited, so I might as well go along with it. I survey the nearby section of the maze. We're not too far in, so it doesn't seem to be that remarkable.

After a moment, I spot a narrow path in the maze, almost like an uncovered doorway. An idea pops into my head. I remove the clothing on my torso, setting my camping supplies and pack next to me. I then pull out my ink and quill and sit. I get to work, and, after a good fifteen or so minutes, a line of runes runs across my chest and arms, palm to palm. I then cap the ink, placing both it and the quill in my pack. Once, the ink dries on my body, I carefully put my shirt and armor back on. Then, I walk over to the passage and spit into the dirt at my feet. I mix the dirt into mud with my index finger and begin drawing on the walls with it.

After another ten minutes, the runes running up the walls are done, almost invisible on the reddish rock. I then trace more runes into the dirt below, taking several more minutes. Now finished, I double check my work for errors, correcting slight mistakes here and there. And now I wait. This should be interesting. I think to myself while calling for Misty. "I believe that I am ready."

Getting into a stance, Misty says "Alright, what's the lesson for today?" She pulls out the dagger from her backpack. Clearing her mind as usual, she again starts circling Tavil. Expecting something different, this time, she decides not to use magic. She looks around at the scenery. There were further sticks littered about the place; a few ashes from someone's old campfire. Walls were all around them, because, well, they were in a maze after all. The ground was covered in dirt, which could be an advantage.... Other than that, it seemed pretty bland. Shaking her thoughts out of her head, Misty begins advancing slowly.... She tries to sidestep into the dagger's range while at the same time ducking down for a shot at Tav's feet.
