67th of winter 513AV

Far overhead the sky was a symphony of blue and red, the thick cloud layer alight like a lake of fire set upon a glaciers shore. Meanwhile a small Kelvic trotted down the road cloak pulled against his back, deep brown eyes peering out from behind the hood their curios gaze jumping from place to place as if trying to drink in every sight at once. Silence, a lack of sound so rare in the city of stone that it made the world seem to hold its breath in apprehension of the new dawn. When Edwyn closed his eyes he could almost imagine that street as the ridge of a high winding mountain or maybe the dim glow as mid-day sun shining through the trees. He could almost feel the air blowing through his hair or hear the tweet of birds high overhead though soon enough he had to open his eyes again, these imaginary images were just that, imaginary; rarely had he left the boundaries of the citadel and even then forests were simply distant landscapes, the mountains miniscule splotches of grey. Gone were the greens and browns, replaced with cold grey stone and morning sky once more.
Yet even with a rumbling stomach, biting cold and exhausted from somehow managing to wake himself at such an early hour he had never felt more alive, more free. Ever since him and Nilika had “bonded” ,a term that still remained much a mystery to the two, edwyn felt… different? In a good way that is, as if a piece of him had been missing without him even realizing yet now it was there and he couldn’t imagine living without it again.
Pulling around the corner Edwyn suddenly appeared under the arch that the pair had decided to meet at the previous day, or at least Edwyn was relatively sure this was it. The middle brick of the curve was carved to depict a bearded face, dead creepers and vines dangled from where they had stretched themselves as high as possible to reach even feint autumn sun only to be taken by the unforeseen frost that winter had yielded. In the opened mouth of the masonry lay an empty nest the inhabitants most likely looking for food and Nilika was not to be found. Hoping he hadn’t misjudged the bell he leaned against the hard wall Edwyn reaching one hand into his riddled cloak to withdraw a small flute; its appearance declaring it practically worthless though he handled it with the care of one touching something that valued more than any amount of money could purchase. He raised the hollow rod to his lips taking up a short tune as he waited.
He closed his eyes letting the notes begin slowly their mellow rhythm reminding him of the fields around the city swaying back and forth in a light breeze, the grain sweeping to the uplifting melody though in it as well was almost a hint of sadness like the thoughts that come to one after a long day or a voyager finally returning home. Their sound dipping then rising back up before going down again to continue the slow pace. Letting the piece fall finally to nearly a whisper he rose it back up like an arm bent to one fallen to give them aid he gave an almost feeling of hope into the piece, the sorrow did not disappear but it no longer was as prominent as the two seemed to sway together in unison. It wasn’t perfect, he let the flute slip a couple times and never was the tune flawless its edges cracking and transitions not really thought out though edwyn didn’t mind so much just letting the tune play.
The song went on…

Meetings [Nilika] [Letixia Raigner]

Postby Letixia Raigner on February 22nd, 2014, 7:49 pm

Letixia had the day off from her training, a reward for doing quite well in her studies the day before. Her armor was in her dorm room, but her sword was at her hip and her shield upon her back. She never went anywhere without them. She tightened up her cloak against the brisk morning air, her breath fogging before her. She decided that today she'd explore the town more. Being a resident, she knew the layout of the city quite well, but she never got a chance to see it in action this early in the morning, as she was usually at training.

She made her way through several hallways, seeing many people leaving their apartments and heading to their jobs. She smiled at each and every single one of them. Maybe she'd treat herself today, buy something for herself, try something new. She saw a patrolling Knight up ahead, just past a small bread stand. She walked up to the stand, "Can I get a loaf of bread, your best one, please?"

"Sure thing miss, that will be two coppers."

Leti handed over four coppers from the pouch hanging from her belt, was handed the bread, and left smiling. She heard the man thank her and she simply nodded at him. She caught up to the Knight, one she didn't know at all, "Good morning Ser, you look hungry. Catch." She tossed the loaf out in front of him, which he caught with ease. She kept on strolling out ahead of him, leaving him somewhat confused, yet thankful, as he tore off a chunk.

She kept walking along, until she heard a sound that certainly stood out in the morning. It was music of some sort, but Letixia's ears couldn't recognize it as to what kind. It was pretty, despite the errors that even a below novice like her could identify. She followed the sounds through the halls, it getting louder as she neared. She turned a corner and saw a young, pale, cloaked man playing a flute. She didn't wish to interrupt, so she leaned against a wall, arms crossed, listening, enjoying the sound.

Meetings [Nilika] [Letixia Raigner]

Nilika’s feet dragged their selves against the cobbled ground. Her cloak’s edges lightly touched the ground as her gagged walk continued. People moved around as she walked. Her eyes were distant and were set into a glare. An elder no more than 60, moved aside quickly as the Konti walked by. Murmurs started to grow louder as she continued on to her destination. Nilika stopped after hearing a conversation that concerned her.
“Such a young child should not have a glare,” said the same elder that moved. Her gray hair was into a ponytail, “it could become permanent on her face.”

“Yes I know, I thought the Konti race was a happy and beautiful,” said the man standing next to the woman. Nilika looked at the pair as her glare deepens and a snarl interrupted them. Her face was mad with anger and eyes an icy blue. If they could cause damage right now, those two strangers would be chunks of ice. The pair froze and looked at the youngling. She continued to sneer as she looked on at them. Their face looked to have turned pale as they fled.

Nilika closed her eyes and sighed out a breath of annoyance. She tried to put a smile up, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes. Nonetheless she was happy to meet up with Edwyn; lately she hasn’t been able to really spend time with him due to work or laziness. There was a little hop in her step as she walked. He said meet him under a bridge, she looked to the right and saw what he was talking about. Music was heard as she got closer and saw Edwyn playing a flute. The sounds came out a little chipped, but pretty. Deciding to surprise him she got behind him and pokes at his shoulder.

Meetings [Nilika] [Letixia Raigner]

The tune danced softly across the cobbled road its melody breaking once or twice though still it went on spinning, falling, rising, just to fall once more. Edwyn didn’t really decide on where he wanted the piece to go simply playing whatever note came to his lips, their whistles not pausing despite the cold that had beset his exposed face and cheeks prickling with gusts of air that swept easily through such narrow passes.
A sudden poke caught his shoulder from behind causing Edwyn to let out a quick whelp of surprise. Nearly jumping his legs twisted underneath him as the worn boots were caught against the hem of his cloak the abrupt movement tugging the fabric away and causing edwyn to tumble backwards into a sludge like puddle of melted snow and brown grey mud.
SPLASH, biting chill raced down his spine, the semi gelatinous fluid plastering against his clothes like paint to its canvas the fridgid mass burning upon his pale skin. Edwyn pulled his head up with a sickening pop; speckled hair no longer hidden by a hood though now was half covered in congealed mud dripping down the back of his neck. Pulling his right arm out he sat up looking down at his tightly closed palm to find his flute still clutched in his fingers wet grasp, true a bit clogged though not broken. Confused his gaze leapt upwards to find Nilika standing just in front of him; seeing her he stumbled to his feat nearly falling over again in his rush before finally managing to stay upright.
“oh- hi didn’t think you were here, or ah- there, or I mean-, I- uh…” he stammered feeling foolish, mud dribbling from his bangs, a single brown drip cresting the bridge of his nose. The ear that wasn’t completely brown had turned a peachy red, be it from the cold or rather embarrassment even Edwyn didn’t know, perhaps both.

Meetings [Nilika] [Letixia Raigner]

Postby Letixia Raigner on March 6th, 2014, 6:27 pm

Leti noticed the Konti woman poke the flutist scaring the soul right out of him. She stifled a small chuckle as he fell backwards into a mess caused by the snow and dirt of the city under Morwen's grasp. She moved toward him, extending out a hand to help him up after he stumbled a second time. Smiling, "Are you okay?" When she realized that he'd had it under control, she withdrew the hand, she looked over at the Konti woman. "You shouldn't scare him like that while he's playing, he could've been hurt."

She turned back toward the man, smiling at the bit of mud on his nose. Her fingers were quick to find it and wipe it off, "I was enjoying your music. My name is Letixia Raigner, squire to Ser Ranqor Grayne." She stuck her hand out to shake, offering it to both of them, smiling. "We should probably get you somewhere warm and get you cleaned up, know any good places nearby?"

OOCSorry its so short, not a lot to go on.

Meetings [Nilika] [Letixia Raigner]

Nilika let out a little snicker at the boy’s fall; nonetheless, she felt bad for scaring him that badly. To be honest, she wanted him to stop playing. It was drawing too many people to him. Being the suspicious person that she is, the Konti didn’t like all the attention. Especially if the attention is toward people that she cared for, but who was she to say that he cannot play his flute. After what Edwyn told her, it seemed mighty important to him. A grimace crossed her face quickly as she heard when the Kelvic looked up at her. The sounds of that snap made her cringe a little as well. Reaching a hand out to him, Edwyn was already getting up and stumbling over his words. She let out a little giggle and watched him blush.

She moved her head ever so slowly towards the song of incoming footsteps. Her ocean blue eyes stared intensely at the unfamiliar person that appeared out of thin air. She watched the woman approached and started to talk to Edwyn. Feeling a little put out, Nilika was about to take a step forward. The woman turned around and appeared to be chastising her? The teenager looked at the woman with questioning eyes after the stranger turned back around. She didn’t do nothing wrong. How was she suppose know that that little poke would frighten the boy? Her cheeks puffed up a little as she glared into the woman’s back as the person in question continued to talk to the Kelvic.

The Konti let out a breath and went around the woman and stood next to Edwyn. She wiped some of the mood from his ears and hair. Listening in on what the new arrival was saying, she discovered that the woman’s name is Letixia Raigner. Letixia held out her hand for a shake. Nilika stared at it for a moment before realizing what she had to do. A blush stained her pale cheeks a little; Nilika rolled down her sleeves so that not skin could be contact with older person. Shook it gently, “My names is Nilika. Wait I mean I’m Nilika. Sorry.” She blush became a shade deeper at the slip up of the two different languages.

Meetings [Nilika] [Letixia Raigner]

Postby Edwyn on March 10th, 2014, 7:37 pm

The cold seemed to seep down Edwyn’s back as the damp clothes he wore clung to the young man’s skin; their embrace providing little in the way of warmth on that late winter morn the weak sun omit of any sympathy. Feat skittish and teeth chattering he gave a meek smile trying to push away the blood rushing to his face though the action seemed merely to make things worse, soon the freckles dashed upon his cheeks becoming feint brown against the startling red that had taken precedence upon all other features.
Watching him Nilika made a stifled giggle her mouth cracked open into a smile; he knew she meant well though still it left Edwyn wishing he could sink back into the ground, had the Kelvic had a tail it would have been pulled back against his haunches in embarrassment. Quickly though without word nor motion the laughter died in his bondmate’s throat as her gaze pulled away, furrowing as a woman approached from the other side of the street. The stranger’s eyes were both stern and strangely warm like a blacksmiths fire that could ignite at any moment, frame lithe yet solid, at her waist was a long blade and upon her back hung a solid buckler its metal reflecting a rim of red and sparse orange tones.
Edwyn blinked listening to her as she spoke the words soon turning on Nilika. He could feel a surge of anger rise in his stomach at the woman’s tone towards her, an almost silent sound escaping his lips much like a growl. Is that me? He wondered trying to stop it, not easy, though he managed unsure if anyone had noticed as the stranger continued now rounding back upon him. Nilika stood off to the side giving a look that Edwyn felt sure could have frozen the snow dripping from his locks her glare burrowing into the woman’s unaware back, before-
Nimble fingers wiped across his nose. The stranger stepped back and shook clear the droplet that he hadn’t even realized was present; he flinched away as the woman smiled clearly content with the dead this time offering a hand.
“I- I-“ what should he say?- thankfully Nilika seemed to get over the surprise faster than he, for she stepped to his side wiping away a small clump of brown running down his scalp before offering a smothered hand to the woman. He never really had understood why Nilika did that and while she never had spoken about it his mind could not help but wonder… she never seems to mind it with me? He thought… well besides a few times but besides that… it was peculiar, though a sudden itch drove it from his mind as his hand scratched relentlessly against his ear, ah… that’s better. Only then did he look up seeing with a start that both of the two were looking at him as if expecting a response.
“Oh- and I’m Edwyn” he said pushing forward a hand only to realize it was covered in muck. Trying to wipe it off on his equally dirty pants he eventually gave up awkwardly shaking the woman’s hand with his left in a fast almost half movement.

Meetings [Nilika] [Letixia Raigner]

Postby Letixia Raigner on March 11th, 2014, 6:21 am

Leti gripped firmly as her father had taught her to do as she shook the woman's hand. She found it odd that the woman had pulled down her sleeve before hand. Leti didn't recognize the language the woman first spoke in, but when she switched to Common, she learned her name. "My pleasure to meet you Nilika."

After the young man gained his composure, she shook his hand as well, learning that his name was Edwyn. After having observed the two interacting with one another, she was willing to bet mizas against Ovek that the two were together. Lovers perhaps? She hadn't heard a response, negatively or positively, to her offer of warmth and cleanliness. She too that as a subtle cue to leave the couple to themselves. She nodded at them, "Good day to you both." Smiling, she turned to leave, perhaps to go grab something to eat. She started running through a list of errands she kept stored away. She did need to go buy a few more outfits. Cleaning could only do so much to a squire's clothes. She started off toward the docks, in order to get to the Warehouse district, her mind already beginning to forget the couple she'd bumped into.

The Konti looked at Edwyn worryingly while he was releasing strange sounds. Turning back to the newly known stranger, Nilika smiled as politely as she could to Letixia. The woman had a firm grip compared to her handshake. Letting go, she looked at Edwyn who appeared to be staring into space. She reached her hand out to tap him slightly before he too shook the woman’s hand. Nilika watched the woman give her farewell and walked away. Thinking on her toes, she grabbed Edwyn’s sleeve and pulled him as she speed walked to catch up with Letixia.

The older lady was quite taller than her and had longer legs, but that didn’t stop the girl from keeping up with her. She speed walked to keep up with Raigner and dragged her bondmate right along with him. Looking around hesitantly, she noticed they were heading to the docks. Her hand reached out and tapped the lady in front of her lightly as not to startle her. “Sorry to disturb you, but I don’t think the docks would be a good way to warm up or clean up. Especially in this type of air,” Nilika tried to add a little smile as not to seem too serious.

Giving her regards to the duo the woman turned on her heals and began to stroll away, what remained of the snow crunched underfoot as her boots landed across its unwelcome expanse. Letting out a slight breath Edwyn shivered, scratching again at his ears; that itch, it just would not go away its sensation seeming to tease him with every move of his hand.
Suddenly he felt Nilika’s soft fingers twist round his arm yanking the Kelvic sideways with surprising speed. “wh-?”He tried to say before a cloud of snow from his bondmate’s abrupt start flew into his face. Sputtering and trying to keep up, Edwyn shook his head splattering the nearby wall with sludge-like run-off, the frozen powder dancing in front of his eyes for a second before it two span away into the air. Wind whipping across his face, drying his lips and yanking at his hair he ran, He loved this, though all to quickly it stopped, as panting he and Nilika pulled to a halt… at least he was panting, Nilika more breathing in slight breaths of air between talking to the woman, had they been running after her? He wondered glancing around then back to the two.
