This shining population center is considered the jewel of The Sylira Region. Home of the vast majority of Mizahar's population, Syliras is nestled in a quiet, sprawling valley on the shores of the Suvan Sea. [Lore]

This thread has been phased out. The new Request thread can be found: hereSyliras NPC Request
All submissions are subject to editing in whole or in part before implementation with or without consulting the original author. Primarily this is for grammar and spelling, but theme, skill level or anything else may be fixed before going in. If a submission is denied, the player may resubmit at any time. Please be sure to heed any advice in regards to denied submissions if there are to be more submissions.
Hail Syliras!! So due to the increasing need for NPCs beyond the skill level of a normal NPC, we have the request thread for city NPCs. What are city NPCs you ask? These are stationary NPCs that belong to the city and can be used by anyone who needs them. These NPCs can be anything and anyone, whatever you may need for your PC to use in threads and since these are for the city as a whole, you don't have to go by the NPC rules listed in the wiki. So that we are clear, this thread is not for PERSONAL NPCs. Personal NPCs need to go through the help desk and be added to your SS threads. This is for the city, so again, this is NOT your NPC, anyone can use these.
NPC submissions MUST be in the format below and include an image that is 200x200 pixels wide or SMALLER that is UPLOADED to Mizahar here.

Syliras NPC Patron Request
Hail Syliras!! Adding to our list of growing NPCs, I've decided to allow players to help create patron knights for the squires in the city. But there are a few things you should keep in mind while making these. Patrons are mostly used by players only, sometimes STs but mostly by the single player who has a PC working under said Knight. With that in mind we want to keep from having over powered patrons raging bout, or Patrons designed to teach a PC every skill that they might want to learn. Remember, Patrons are there to teach your PC how to be a Knight, not how to skill grind. So with that in mind....the rules.
First you should use the listing on the lore page when building a Knight. A knight can't be a Knight without having the proper skills so take a look at this.
Knight
Weapon (Sword) - 30 pts This skill more accurately includes an one-handed weapon used with a shield, but most Knights prefer some type of sword Weapon (Shield) - 30 pts Weapon (Ranged) - 30 pts This skill can include Spear, Bow, Lance, or any weapon that can be used on horseback Riding (Horse) - 30 pts
Gnosis: 1 Sylir, 1 Optional.
Mage-Knight
Fighting Skill - 30 pts Most Mage-Knight study either Daggers, Unarmed Combat, or some type of short sword. Offensive Magic - 30 pts Examples: Reimancy (Determine the elements), Flux, Projection, Voiding Supportive Magic - 30 pts Examples: Auristics, Shielding, Spiritism, Glyphing Riding (Horse) - 30 pts
Gnosis: 1 Sylir, 1 Optional.
You should follow one of these examples for making up an NPC Patron: -You are only allowed to have 7 skills listed, and four of those should be in the listing above. The other three are for you to decide. -The level of Knight you are allowed to make are as followed. Knight/Mage-Knight, and Sergeant Knight/Mage-Knight. Only Sergeant Knights are allowed to have 1 expert skill, the rest have none. |
Syliras NPC Squad Request
Hail all to ye Full Knight PCs! Once you are promoted to Sergeant Knight, you can submit a write-up of five NPC Knights to act as your Wing squad, yes, these Knights will be under your command and act as your subordinates, you can play them like how you play your patron.
So to all Full Knight PCs! Apply for your promotion in the Shield Points thread and submit 5 write-ups of your NPC Knights Squad!
You should follow read the following rules when applying NPC Squads: -Only Full Knights can request for promotion, Full means that the PC Knight has passed their Knighting Quest. PCs starting out as unranked knights can't request for promotion until they have done so. -The rules are mostly the same as making up an NPC Squad as in you are only allowed to have 7 skills listed, and four of those should be in the listing above. The other three are for you to decide. -The difference being, The level of Knight you are allowed to make are as followed. Knight/Mage-Knight. Unlike NPC Patrons, Squad Knights can't be Sergeants. |
Locations
With the increasing desire to help out around the city, it has been decided to create a place where a player can submit locations. The rules for creating a location are simple.
- All locations submitted this way must be available to all players. Locations intended to be supervised by moderators need to be cleared by the DS.
- Locations typically will include NPCs which will be approved or denied separately.
- Knight-specific and related locations must be cleared with the DS before it can be approved.
- Locations must fit within the theme of Syliras, no carnivals, no buildings outside of Syliras' walls, no thievery or crime related locations.
- The location cannot be used to create large sweeping changes to the dynamics in the city without permission. An example of this might be a rival forge that is as big or bigger than the Ironworks.
- Code: Select all
[frame2=#000000] [webfont=Gemerald]Location name[/webfont]

The main body of the location. This should include where it is at, what it looks like inside and out. Who works or owns the location as applicable. Typical set ups vary.

Name: Jackson Crownsgard Race: Human DoB: 37th day of Summer, 477 A.V. PoB: Sylrias Title: Sergeant Knight Skills: 34 Falconry, 47 Leadership, 40 Persuasion, 33 Riding: Horse, 27 Tactics, 75 Bastard Sword, 43 Buckler, 34 Light Barbed Lance Gnosis: 1 Sylir Additional Info: Jackson is a stern man, of stout morals and standards. Deep down in the depths of his soul he had always known that he was meant to follow in his father footsteps and become a knight. Practiced in courtly demeanor, he has a strong presence, a gaze that can disarm any man. He has a strong sense of composure, which is able to withstand any surprise. He can analyze any situation that occurs and come up with a well-thought out course of action. He's practiced even in conversation, able to woo most with his silver-tongue.
He's a public speaker, as a leader of men usually must be accosted to speaking before battle. At court he has enough court manners to navigate the politics of the land, and the vocabulary to flatter the attendees of such events.
Still, Jackson is home on the battlefield, and is most often found on missions and tasks relating to it. He's a master of weaponry, and spares with squires and knights alike. Always honing his skills, he is the first up at the sunrise and the last to leave long after the sun has settled down for the night.

I'd like to write up two locations for Syliras and I was wondering if this is the thread to put them in, and whether they seem plausible for Syliras.
1) Grain Mill - located where one of the forks of the Avitar River intersects with the Kabrin Road. Since wheat and other grain based crops are grown in the Syliran fields I think it would make sense that some sort of mill has been developed for processing the grain. This would be located on the Avitar River so that a waterwheel could be implemented to power the mill.
2) Bakery - located preferably near the Taverns/Inns due to convenient access to the main gates (incoming wheat/flour) and access to its primary customers (the taverns). However, it could also be located in the Nettle District with other "posh" shops, or the Bazaar. I get the impression that bread (fresh, dried, or for traveling) is likely a staple food in Syliras especially since wheat and other grains are grown in the Syliran fields. This bakery would primarily be used for baking regular bread but it might also sell sweet breads and other baked treats.
Let me know if these fit the theme of Syliras and are plausible. If you'd rather not introduce them as "existing" buildings, then perhaps they could be built in Spring 515 by an aspiring miller and gadgeteer (Grain mill) and a baker/entrepreneur (Bakery). Of course, I would provide full descriptions with a picture and accompanying NPC(s) for the locations. I just wanted to test the waters first to see if these are viable locations. |
