Recoomas listened to the woman's words and this time he didn't judge her. He knew about her past and how another Akalak had basically ruined her for any others to come next and the damage couldn't be undone. He had seen through his brother's eyes the marks that someone had made in her skin for no other purpose but torture likely. He could accept her words and her wants and he wouldn't expect her to be anyone that she wasn't. Riaris was trying to change for her, but he wouldn't. Being nicer and more caring was good enough.
The darker brother rubbed his chin a bit, eyes glancing to their son for a quick moment before he turned to look at her again. "That's not what I was referring to, but I understand your point clearly." Kavala was a very serious woman, sometimes to the point where it seemed obsessive. But every one in life walked their own path, and he was fine with that, even though so many people wanted him to walk their way and not his. He just wondered how much of this Riaris was aware of.
"So are we getting tattoos or not? It kinda seems like you're against it, or you just don't understand the point behind getting them maybe? Tattoos are not like the scars on the faces of the Cerulean, or like the bracelets you had to wear. They are symbols that carry meaning, and for some a truth. Only a fool would get ink on their bodies that have no meaning. If you think so little of tattoos you could have just said so. I won't be angry."
Recoomas stretched in the chair a little, being mindful of his strength and size so that he wouldn't break her furniture. "It was just a thought. I'm sure my heart will still beat even if we never get closer. Take your time on that, maybe we will one day, maybe we won't." He thought more about how she and Riaris had run together, sailed together and it seemed like the perfect thing to bring them closer, but if Kavala wanted to keep that for just the two of them, he wouldn't fought her there.
Recoomas didn't sense a mood change, to him, Kavala had always been that way more or less. The only thing that had been different was when she touched his cheek. "Yes, I think we're done here. What do you say Shayru? You're one step closer to being a man."
He was surprised when she uninvited herself just like that, but only because he didn't think she would trust him to handle her son alone in the city. Recoomas gave her a lone glance, trying to figure out what was going on inside her mind. "Very well, let's get going! Maybe I'll add your name to my skin also."
OOCSo sorry about that. typo bleh!
