Huskabar Skorn

Appearance

Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 71 (72 on the 40th)
Birthday: 40th, Fall, 445.
Birthplace: Sunberth
Current Location: Ravok

Appearance:
A tall spindly figure, standing just over six feet tall, with a long silver mane of hair, meeting the mixed shades of his grey beard. His face is gaunt, with sharp cheek bones, and darting eyes, with irises so dark, that one would swear they were pure black. He is often cloaked, but has scars down along every limb just beneath the material… The result of a gruesome beating he received from the local children of Sunberth at a very young age. He wears a golden torc around his neck, which once belonged to his father.

Character Concept

Not to get too far ahead of myself, but I really wanted to explore the mind of an ascending wizard, and get a feeling of how power can slowly but surely corrupt. In some ways the results will even be a surprise to me. I will just have to continue to let this character take his natural course, and see where this twisted pathway leads me. Also I chose Sunberth for two different reasons. There is a true need for someone there who can make unwanted items just... go away, and on the other side of the spectrum, pursuing such an ambition is by no means a couscous man's pathway. The people of Sunberth are not trusting of magic users, and where others may see this as a repellent, I am drawn like a moth to the flame. There is some mighty interesting role play potential in that situation.

Huskabar

Character History

As a boy, Huskabar grew up in Sunberth poor, often hungry, always dirty, but he always had his father by his side. Though this boy was indeed born in there, he always knew that his father not native to this land. The docile man barely ever said a word of his past, but even to his own flesh and blood he was an enigma, and personality could not be any more foreign to these locals. Despite struggling to get by every day, struggling to provide for his only child, there was an inner peace to the man, but at the very same time the boy could not help but think that there was something his father was hiding. It wasn’t until many years later that his suspicions were confirmed.

What was once a young boy was nearly a man, when a stranger made his way into the citadel. The strange cloaked man sought a private audience with Huskabar’s father, but there was an uninvited set of ears attending the conversation that night, and the son finally knew the truth of his father. He let his presence be known with a great flurry of anger, to have learned that his father was a great practitioner of magic. How could he not use these gifts to help put food on the table? Where was the magic on the cold unforgiving nights? This was just a taste of the medley of questions burning deep within his soul. The father tried to explain the reason behind his decisions, and the dangers of his previous life. These words only fueled the resentment that now filled his heart, and bubbling to the surface was a single thought…

The young man made it clear that if there was to ever be any shred of forgiveness, there was a price to be paid, knowledge. Unfortunately for Huskabar, it was one that his father was not willing to pay, and from that moment on the relationship deteriorated, and a wall between the two of them grew. The young man could not understand why his father would not use his gifts or even teach him his ways. Years went by like this, each on passing faster than the last, and distance between the two of them grew both figuratively and literally. It wasn’t until much later, when Huskabar was well into his adulthood that everything changed. The stranger who had visited all those many years ago tracked down the wizard’s son, accompanied by the weight of some grim news… That of his father’s passing.

The stranger informed him that his father’s last wish, was that his son be taught the three magical disciplines that had once turned his own life inside out, and not so that he would repeat these mistakes, but rather so that he could understand and respect the pressures of such knowledge. Huskabar was completely perplexed. Why now? Was this supposed to be some grand legacy or some form of apology? Was it meant to be some sort of test? He did not have the answers to these questions, but he did know one thing… That this opportunity was not about to pass him by, and so it was, the stranger, who was a powerful mage in his own right, taught the newly fatherless son the mystic abilities that he had learned alongside his now deceased friend so many years ago.

Once again time casted its spell and the old bearded man could barely remember his teacher’s face, yet the lessons were still engraved in his mind, and a momento hung from his neck, a golden torc... One that his teacher said once belonged to his father, long ago. He ran a finger tip along the gold, with a slow nod of his head. He knew what he had to do now. It was now time for him to return home, back to Sunberth, to prove to himself that he could accomplish what his father could not. He could make a life there, embracing his magical knowledge, and using it to benefit the area, and if it just so happens to benefit himself as well… That would just be ideal. He looked through the darkened alley ways of the city streets, as a smile gradually came across his face, his gaze narrowing…. “Hello, Sunberth… It’s been a long time.”

Other Images Soon to Come

Huskabar has gained the habit of taking his father's appearance as his own, whenever he has enough djed to do so.

Above is an image of teenage Huskabar (Returning Home)

Above is the borrowed face of a vagrant Huskabar had encountered. He often goes by the alias, Richard Wind (The name of his magic teacher,) while wearing this guise.

Huskabar

Postby Huskabar on March 21st, 2014, 3:15 am

List of Injuries, Deformities, and Illnesses

Time Cause
Facial Scar 13th Winter 461 AV Volanaro left Huskabar with a nasty pink scar curving out from his smile. Later on, Huskabar would come to grow a beard, concealing this injury from view.
Sagged Face Skin 55th Winter 513 AV Due to the large amount of Djed needed to force a quicker Morph, Huskabar will find that his reckless attempt has some undesirable results. When he Morphed his face to be longer and gaunt, Huskabar didn't actually Morph all of the flesh. Some of it actually stretched, leaving him with stretch marks and sagging ripples of flesh hanging from his chin and jaw. Over a long period of time the flesh can tighten, returning to normal if not stressed any further.
Hand Spasms 63rd Winter 513 AV Careless ripping of the astral wrists and hands had caused Huskabar to lose control of his right hand for the following couple of weeks, and though he did regain control, he has been left with the long term effect of unpredictable spasming in the hand, which comes and goes.
Dementia 63rd Winter 513 AV It was at this point that Huskabar discovered he suffered from several horrible forms of Dementia, which is actually a blanket term. The main effect he has experienced is the formation of hallucinations in his day to day life. These mainly seem to be the image of his father.
Dog Nail 73rd Winter 513 Like many of the wizard’s injuries, this odd deformity was brought on by the severe abuse of morphing magic, leaving a small stub like dognail on the left hand where the thumb should be, and a pattern of brown fur patches up the wrist. This imperfection will cause all later morphed forms to have small similar imperfections. This deformity also affected his astral body, causing the left hand to be weaker and less reliable than the right when projecting. Huskabar would later come to wear gloves, in attempts to conceal the unsightly mutation.
