Distance Training (Ser Luthor)

Leti and Ser Ranqor made their way up along the North Kabrin Road, their horses clopping beneath them. "Letixia, where is the best place to aim an arrow at an enemy soldier without a shield?"

"The center of his chest Ser."

"Correct, but why?"

"Even if your shot misses by a margin, you have a higher chance of hitting a vital organ or crippling a limb, Ser."

"Correct. And if he's wielding a shield?"

"The sword side of his torso, or his legs, Ser."

"Correct. And if the Knight is mounted, much like we are?"

"The torso of the horse. This will cripple his speed, and could end up injuring him as well. It also gives your a higher ground advantage if you're on your own horse, Ser."

"Correct. Now, have you gotten far enough along in your training to begin shooting from horseback?"

"No Ser, I've only managed to practice them separately."

He pulled his horse off the eastern side of the road by the trees. Leti tugged at her reins, struggling to follow the casual course around rocks, bushes, and dips her Patron took. He stopped a fair distance from the woods, and she sidled next to him.

"Draw, aim, and fire at one of those trees Letixia."

"Yes Ser."

Leti grabbed her bow from around her torso, gripped it in her left hand. She drew an arrow from her quiver, and set atop her gripped fingers. She nocked it, and slipped her three fingers around the string, one above the fletchings, and two below. She extended her bow arm out, not locking the elbow. She took a breath, and started to pull on the string, only to find something was wrong. It was a lot harder to pull the string. She could only assume it was because she was unable to take a proper stance. Forcing her way through it, she pulled the string back, her hand stopping at her jaw. Her arms were struggling, vibrating at the increased strain. She picked a spot on the tree and loosed the arrow. It flew, high and upward, and lodged itself in the trunk, several lengths up from where she'd been aiming.

Ser Ranqor was smiling, knowing this would happen. "Problems?"

43rd of Spring, 514 AV

Luther walked down the Kabrin Road, his armor heavy on his shoulders each time he moved. The metal rubbed against the chainmail underneath, making it somewhat uncomfortable, but still, it made Luther relaxed since he knew that he'd be well protected if a bandit or something worse jumped out of the bushes and tried to attack him.

The knight rested a hand on the hilt of his sword, that resided in it's scabbard on the right hip of Luther's body, so he could easily draw with his left and pull the shield, which was attached by rope to his back, into his right, allowing him to quickly get into a defensive stance against a foe. Luther used to spend a majority of his time training for that sort of scene, but it never actually happened to him.

He turned a corner and began hearing voices. A man and a woman's, along with the cries and neighs of horses. Luther slowed his pace tremendously as he crept, or as much as one could in full armor, to where the two were located. Both were on horseback. The male was in knight armor. That came as a relief and an annoyance to Luther. He was really looking forward to some action after thinking he'd come across bandits.

The girl must be his apprentice or something.

As the woman loosed an arrow, Luther got closer to the duo. Suddenly, his foot clipped a rock that seemingly came from nowhere, causing the human to tumble over his feet, but luckily keeping upright. At the moment Luther reasserted himself, the male in the armor swiveled around with the horse, staring down at Luther.

"And who might you be?"

"I am Ser Luther Stone, 1st Wing, White Company, 2nd Regiment, Silver Quadron." Replied Luther, still not sure of the two's respective identities. "Yourselves?"

"Thoughts."
"My words."
"Your words."
"NPC's words."
