Day 34th of Spring, 514 A.V. During Twilight
The day had been an enduring one working at the Red Diamond Fashions store. Handling her craft was becoming tedious as the Kelvic worked her best to push out as many leather products as she could. Reven had become too much of a perfectionist, too focused on her work to cut corners and give up easily on her task. Due to this, her limbs were aching as much as her mind was. It hadn't helped that dark thoughts weighed on her mind, slipping through the brilliant, protective layer of lover her bondmate shrouded her in from time to time. Reven knew he could tell because shortly after, a wave of unease would filter through her body as if to ask a simple question: “Are you okay?”
The Kelvic couldn't hear him, not in her thoughts. It was only through the deep connection established between the two that she was able to recognized distinctive emotions. It took no small amount of focus to ease her thoughts, but once she had shoved back the mild depression, Reven would envelope herself in the love she held for the man, letting it vibrate into the bond, signaling that she was okay.
Truth be told, she was far from the fact. Earlier that season, Reven met with information about her mother's absence in her life with the discovery of a journal. It held information that clearly outline her heritage in blatant, manic writing. The Kelvic was a daughter of a slave, corrupted and violated before being driven insane by the destruction of her bond. At first, she couldn't accept it but when confronting her caretaker with the leather bound evil, it was obvious something had been lurking in the shadows for nearly her entire life. Reven couldn't forgive and couldn't forget. She was lost to such things.
She loathed her heritage.
Walking from the shop, the feline bid farewell to both Orabelle and Hudon before venturing off into the city. Syna's light was approaching the horizon, she too bleeding the last few streams of golden, orange rays before it was time for her to rest. Twilight had fallen over Riverfall and with it, sparkled in the sky many stars that greeted the citizens, welcoming them into the arms of night. Reven walked through the streets of the top tier, rounding the corner only to find a magnificent park where flowers twinkle like colorful gems back to the twilight sky. It drew the cougar closer, finding the view peaceful and relaxing.
Deciding to wander into such a place before heading home, Reven took her time examining the flowers, admiring the vibrant pigments and beautiful petals. For a moment, it made her heart ache. She couldn't understand why but it showed upon her features.
“That's quite a face you've got there.” A deep voice sounded, pulling the Kelvic's attention.
A few feet from her, sitting on the bank of a pond, was an Akalak man who had only shaped legs. From the look of it, they appeared wooden, blatantly artificial. Reven could tell the man had seen some kind of battle. Pausing, hazel eyes captured his frame steadily. He had not turned to look at her, how could he know what she looked like?
“Yes, young lady. You there. I am speaking to you.” He confirmed. “Or is there another person here that brought with them such an unpleasant atmosphere.”
How rude! The Kelvic frowned. “I didn't mean to disturb you. Excuse me...”
His eyes turned on her then, looking collected, open. “I didn't mean to upset you. I was stating an obvious fact.” A tick past before a smile lifted his lips. “I'm Missinar, why don't you come sit by the water for a moment. It does help.”
Gesturing to the spot next to him, Reven's brow rose. “Oh, no... Thank you, I just came to look at the flowers.”
“Please.” He offered again. “I would enjoy the company, if it's only for a brief moment.”
The Kelvic wanted to let out a sigh but bit it back and moved to sit a comfortable distance from the Akalak. He was odd, too relaxed and at ease with his surroundings. That, however, was probably one of the reasons why she never noticed him. Watching the man now, he had taken to closing his eyes and settling back, relaxing in the cool, night air. Breathing in, he released the air in his lungs, as if falling into a kind of meditation.
What was he up to?
“... And you are?”
A chime had past, his voice suddenly startling in the quiet atmosphere. Blinking, hazel eyes turned to the pond before them. “My name's Reven.”
“Reven. What a nice name, have you been in Riverfall long?”
“Most of my life, yes...” She was uncomfortable providing such information. “I wasn't born here.”
From her peripheral, she saw him nod softly. Chimes went by all without either of them speaking. She could tell her presence was offsetting the atmosphere now and felt completely embarrassed for it. As if to fix this, Missinar spoke up. “I find the pond has a way of pulling one's stress from them. After a long day, I enjoy stopping here for a time to meditated on things. Maybe you should do that as well? It never hurts to try.”
