Shiress watched, seemingly uninterested, as Orion removed his shirt, eyes dropping quickly to the man's thick chest before returning to his face. She said nothing to him as he dropped the coins to the floor and turned for the door, flinching slightly as she instinctively caught the shirt that was thrown at her.
She leapt to the floor before the door snapped shut behind the departing squire and, with no desire to chase after him, she turned to resume her position and duties behind the bar.
As she rounded the worn counter top, her path was blocked by none other than Kevith, the tavern owner. He was none to happy and in his arms he held her bag. "I think myself and these patrons have seen and heard enough of you for one night." he said, holding out her bag. "Kevith, I'm sorry, but he.." She was cut off with the wave of the owners hand "I'm aware of what went on, Shiress. We'll talk tomorrow, best you go on home for now"
Shiress snatched her bag and made her way quickly to the door, slinging it across her shoulder as she exited, Shadow at her heels. At the end of it all, she felt no win, nor did she feel a loss. She felt spent.
Emotionally crashing and physically exhausted, she stepped onto the road enroute to the tiny apartment she called home. Of course, Orion would be just a head of her, his bare skin moving slowly in and out of the dim light of the torches and lamps along the road. She watched him walk, as she herself moved along. She couldn't help but wonder why the man showed so much resentment toward her. Well, before tonight, that is.
Turning toward her building, she decided to go against her gut feeling and leave the man alone, let -what is- remain -what is- and paused, calling out to the squire as he continued on, anger now absent from her voice. "Orion, may the God's see fit to put me back in chains if I truly meant any harm by telling Hadyn what I did." her eyes fell to the shirt soaked and balled up in her hand "I never meant for you or Hadyn to get tangled up in the evil of my past, Orion. I swear it, if I had it to do over again, I would have given up in the woods before you found me with Jordan, I'd be better for it now if I had, I think and I think you'd agree. I've been a mess since that night and for what it's worth, I'm sorry."
Without looking up, she placed Orion's shirt on top of a bush, knelt down and brought Shadow up in her arms, and stepped away toward Traveler's Row. She didn't know if the man heard anything that she had said, but even if he did, she figured it fell on deaf ears. Maybe it was better that way.
