The Fear: Monster
The Mask: Innocent
The Flaw: Mule
The Desire:
The Fear
This is what Millicent is scared of most. It lurks in the shadows of her mind and the corner of her eyes. When it grows in strength it can maker paranoid and suspicious of everyone, particularly herself. It often manifests itself in nightmares. Her decisions and actions are bases around this fears. Each action is one of three possible outcomes. She gives into the fear, she defies the fear or she runs from the fear.
The Mask
While The Fear can be overcome, Millicent must confront it with her own experience and understanding. Like a parent reassuring her that nothing is waiting under the bed, Millicent will not believe any answer until she sees for herself. Thus The Mask exists. It serves to color her actions that are driven by The Fear. It is a carefully constructed illusion to of how she wants to be rather than how she is.
The Flaw
No Illusion is perfect nor any mask seamless. Some flaws are big some are small. It can be as blatant as out of character action, or as simple as a misplaced word. Sometime Millicent means to portray these flaws as a cry for help. Other times they burst forth as The Fear over powers The Mask, or vice versa. Regardless The Flaw is a gap in The Mask that always threatens to show up. At the very least it reveals the existence of The Mask, and at most it reveals parts of The Fear.
The Desire
The opposite of The Fear, The Desire is what Millicent wants the most. It is what helps to shape the form of The Mask. Unlike the Fear, The Desire is shared with and shaped by those around Millicent. While most of her actions are controlled by The Fear, most of her plans are determined by The Desire.
Monster
To be a monster is to be destructive, selfish and violent. Millicent’s greatest fear is that she is a monster. There is an anger and selfishness that festers away at her core, and it scares her. When she gives into this fear, she engages in violence, or manipulation of others. To defy her fear, she goes out of her way to be either helpful to others or allow others to use her. If she runs from her fear, she acts more childlike and lets others make the decisions for her.
Innocent
Millicent could not bear to expose the true attention of her actions. While she may engage in acts of violence, they are limited to either defending others or training. As almost a form of pittance, she seeks out injury during such fights. Any good deed she does, she will try to deny any reward so that the deed at least looks altruistic. When she runs from the fear, she closes her eyes to the suffering and the pain around her. She pretends that those who do bad have a good reason for it and those that suffer probably deserve it.
Mule
Innocent is the cover for the actions, but she inapt as maintaining the illusion. Her innocence begins to vanish when questioned about her motives. Particularly it surfaces at how stubbornly she can hold on to her ideals. It is difficult to change her mind once she has made here decision. It comes from a belief that her monster is just waiting to cease control if she lets up. Ironically her stubbornness invokes the anger and selfishness that she wants to hide.
Guardian
Millicent’s goal is to crush the monster hiding in her and others. To this end, she holds that all life is important and that it must be protected. Her plans for the future are to grow stronger so that she can protect everyone. This includes those that do not deserve to be protected and those that don’t want such protection. To her killing someone is to say their life is without value and also that her life might not be of value.
