History: Once renowned wilderness experts and grassland navigators, suffering the 'Wandering Wildmane' curse. When Wildmane men begin to age beyond their golden days they get restless and go out alone into the Sea of Grass never to return.

Winter 33 515AV a fleet of black ships raid Endrykas. No one knows where the pirates came from but in their wake 400 warriors lost their lives defending the city. It seems the Wildmane curse reigned strong that day. Many of the family were killed or kidnapped in the raid.

Now there remains just a few to carry on the Wildmane memory.

History: Ramsay is a good friend to Saron Earthshadow and his family, whom he works for at the Pride. The Plainseer pavilion is a relative of the Earthshadows, specializing in the raising, breeding, and training of herding dogs, which goes hand in hand with tending to livestock. Ramsay, though not the Ankal of the Plainseers, holds an important position in being the pavilion's best dog breeder (specifically the Dynakuvas) and master shepherd. His work with the Pride is dual: work with dogs, providing perhaps the best in all of the Emerald Clan, and locating and shepherding wild stock to incorporate into the Drykas herds. Though his specialty is in dogs, Ramsay also dabbles in horses, training light horses for herding purposes.

Ramsay has a large, kind heart to fit his giant frame-- standing in at 6' 6" and thick with muscle. Due to his inability to father children, he has grown to accept most newcomers with open arms. He adopts strays and orphaned children, taking them in as his own-- in this way he has been a father to more than fifteen healthy, productive Drykas. Despite his impotence Ramsay earned his Windmarks as a young man, and has two faithful wives who refuse to migrate to other pavilions, both of whom aid in his professional endeavors, typically handling the business side of things. Ramsay serves as a polarizing figure within the Emerald Clan, earning admiration and love from some --due to his prowess with the Dynakuvas-- and hatred and disrespect from others. While he has many good friends, he also has those who wish to undermine him, though as of yet none have succeeded in more than petty ways.

UPDATE FALL 515: At the end of Fall 515 AV, Ramsay prayed to Caiyha for children of his own but was disappointed and remains impotent. Due to this and some troubles at work concerning an adversary of Ramsay's named Andre Sunshadow, Ramsay has been unhappier of late, smiling less and showing a dark temper, esp. concerning Sunshadow.

History: Thunder is Ramsay's prize male Dynakuva, and as such holds the highest position within the mobile hierarchy of Ramsay's herding pack. Because of this he has a tough attitude, and is not one to take slights lightly, from human or canine. Thunder has almost no sense of humor when it comes to outsiders, and is highly competitive, vain, and proud. He knows he is special, and he knows he is the best breeder. With an oddly-patterned coat, more white than black and gold, Thunder is a perfect example of Ramsay's signature coloring.

Thunder is a large and strong, handsome dog, and excels at all sorts of herding and showmanship. His greatest asset, however, are his ears, which are probably the sharpest ever bred by Ramsay.

History: Lightning is one of Ramsay Plainseer's breeding/herding Dynakuvas, and has become one of his favorite dogs because of her great personality and huge intelligence. Lightning is very very smart, with clever hazel eyes and a dark, sleek shape. Though a little smaller than most breeders, Lightning makes up for it with her personality and talent. She has a great sense of humor, much like her master's, but remains proactive and takes much pride in her work.

Lightning is quick on her feet and talented at herding, maybe one of the most naturally talented of Ramsay's dogs. She can be an intimidating figure, and acts as a matron on the herding field, teaching pups and newcomers to the best of her ability. She is not afraid of confronting those who slack off or show ineptitude.

History: Ian was the Windheart Pavilion's last hope. The youngest of five boys produce by the Ankal and his first wife, Ian had no interest in being the Ankal. In fact, he was not even properly groomed to take this position. It was not until a really bad raid happened where most of his family was either killed or stolen, leaving only his father and himself that the role of Ankal fell on his shoulders. Due to his peaceful demeanor and how simple he was (and still is), Ian's father did not believe he could lead the Pavilion. But after taking his first wife, Ian proved his father wrong- providing and what not for his family. Ian even expanded the family when he took two more wives and sired eight more children.

Ian is a hardworking man who sees the beauty in everything and everyone. He is not one to judge and that can clearly be seen by his choice of wives. He loves them all dearly and his children and while he isn't one to fight, he will do anything to defend his family.

History: A poised and seductive woman, Laesetta is the perfect first wife. The drykas woman was actually prepared to take on such a role by her parents, who believed she could lead and take care of a family. In her youth, Laesetta was one of the prettiest girls in the Opal clan. When she came of age, men of different clans asked for her hand in marriage. Little did they all know, one had already stolen her heart. Laesetta wanted no one but Ian Windheart. She confessed this only to him and her parents. But by the time she did, they had already found a suitable husband. A Paille, who was a healer like herself.

The night before Laesetta was supposed to leave for Kenash, she ran off to the Windheart Pavilion, where she and her love decided to exchange vowels and receive their Cheva mark.

On their first try, she had given him a son. They tried again once more, only to find out that she was infertile. This broke her heart and Ian's but he was fine with this. Laesetta was not and after Ian married his second wife and had children with her, Laesetta prayed to Zulrav for one more. Miraculously, she had a another child.

History: Jynessa Windheart is not exactly an Endrykas native, being born in Syliras to two very confused and young Inartan parents. She was one of two that was simply taken away from her parents by a crazy drykas woman who faked a pregnancy to please her husband. While Jynessa's pavilion was a bit suspicious of her, they treated her no differently than any of the other children.

Growing up, Jynessa has always been big-boned. But nonetheless very beautiful. Despite being beautiful, too many horse lords could not overlook her size and often made fun of her. At first, Ian took Jynessa as his wife out of guilt. A few years together and Ian realized he truly loved Jynessa. He loves how feisty she can be and how caring she is for the entire family.

Jynessa has given the Windheart Pavilion six boys, all a twin. She believes this is just luck.

History: Once a rebellious teenager of the Sapphire clan, Dela ran off to Taloba with her first love, a myrian and came back to Endrykas pregnant without evening knowing it. With a noticeable swollen stomach, her father still tried to find a drykas to betrothed her to. Of course not too many men even in her own clan did not want her or the responsibility she carried. Dela's father lost hoped.

Dela came across Ian one day and while he noticed her swollen stomach, he could not help it but fall in love with her. Dela became the third wife and when she had her child, she was treated no differently than Ian's other children.

After being with Ian for eleven years, Dela gave him his second daughter and last child who they both cherish.

Becoming apart of the Windheart pavilion has helped Dela realize she has made many mistakes in the past. Mistakes she does not want her daughters to make. Dela has become a very strict and protective parent.

History: The first son and heir, Jacobson is a very arrogant man. He already believes he is the Ankal and sometimes treats the rest of the family as if they are beneath him. Well, all but one and that is Dela. When the woman joined the family she was like a child herself. When the others went off to work, she was left with the children and trusted to protect them. During that time, Jacobson had grown incredibly close with Dela. He did not really see her as a mother, falling in love with her. Jacobson is still in love with the third wife of his father but only his mother knows and she is trying her best to get him to see that she is one of his mothers.

A stubborn man, he refuses to see this. Following traditions, he got married at sixteen. Jacobson has two wives and plans to make Dela his third.

The marriage hardly lasted two years, Iasetta returned to her pavilion with a newborn babe.

Like her mother, Iasetta is elegant and graceful. She is also naive and very fragile.

Pavilions from all the Clans come to them in search of a custom tapestry, blanket, or rug to preserve their tales. The Ankal leads this trade alongside his wife and daughter, while his twin brother, is a valued member of the watch. After the pirate attacks in the winter of 515AV, their size has significantly decreased. Rahle's aunt, first wife and oldest two daughters perished in the fight, Rabard's son was also lost. Now, the Pavilion words to recover the status they once had as well as preserve the memories of their people.

History: Although one of a pair of twins, the decision to make Rahle the Ankal had never really been a hard one. Among the Topaz clan, unlike the others, wisdom is perhaps valued higher than strength. When any would look at the brothers, it was clear to see which they embodied. While Rabard had always been good with blades, Rahle learned his family's skill with ease, becoming an expert quickly. For their childhood and teenage years, both sons were groomed to become Ankal, with the expectation that their father would choose the best fit before he passed. Unfortunately, their father passed un-expectantly, meeting a Glassbeak alone in the wilderness. This left the brothers in a tense few seasons as the argued over who would win. But in the end, the decision was not theirs. Wisdom was valued the most, and given their line of work, these squabbling mortals had attracted Tanroa's attention.

The Goddess of Time came to them, gifting Rahle with a gnosis, then showing the brothers their past. That night, they saw how Rahle had always been the closest to the family trade. Although both were groomed to be Ankals, equally, Rabard had grown distracted. Unlike his brother, Rahle's strength was with his clan. The decision was resolved then, and Rabard understood the necessity for his brother's leadership. All issuing with Rahle's leadership disappeared with the Goddess.

Like many of his clan, Rahle is a compassionate wise man. He is strong, as Drykas are, but he is patient and reliable. All of his Pavilion, as well as those in his clan, look to him for wisdom. When he makes a decision, it is consistent and usually the right one. He rules with a firm hand, but with love and wisdom as well.

History: One of a pair of twins, Rabard is very unlike his brother. He still holds the same compassion and love, like the rest of his family, but Rabard is used to more sacrifice. Never having been as level-headed as his brother, Rabard found he was drawn to the fight more than the story. Even though he had been groomed as a child to be Ankal, expecting his wise father to make the right decision when the time came, the decision was never made. His father was killed in the dangers of the wilderness, like many other lone Drykas. When his brother and him heard the news, Rabard did not think it through as his brother did. He immediately thought that he might deserve the title as Ankal, as he had the strength to do so.

Had it been any other clan, he would have been right. Yet, among the Topaz, Wisdom was valued more, and eventually Rabard had to listen. He did not fight his brother, at the plea of his mother and the Ankal's around him, yet the other Ankals of the Topaz Clan could not designate a leader for the Firstsongs. Yet, Tanroa could. The wise Goddess visited the brothers, who had always been so close, and chose Rahle. She made it clear to Rabard why he was best suited for the job, and Rabard agreed. Since then, he had taken his new life well. Joining with the Watch, Rabard put his determined and forceful natured to benefit all of Endrykas rather than just his clan. This allowed him the independence that being an Ankal would restrict him from, and Rabard quickly found peace with his position. Although his unpredictable and detached nature had never found Rabard a wife, he stayed with his brother's Pavilion, eventually taking a captive.

The very young Inartan woman that he had saved from slavery in Kenash bore his first child, the oldest son of the Pavilion. And for the time, Rabard was prideful that his son may be the Ankal, as Rahle had only had two daughters at that point. Then, when his captive became pregnant again, Rabard's pride grew. Then, in the Winter of 515AV, he lost his son to the pirate raids. His anger and despair was taken out on his captive, who he had always been kind to until then. Eventually she became pregnant again, although Rabard knew that he would no longer be the father of the heir, as Rahle had his own son by then.

History: Born within the Chaktawe Clans, Chelha is still as Drykas as the rest. Her tribe lived on the northern reaches of Eyktol, and had frequent contact with the Drykas. As she had grown, she accompanied her family to trade with the Drykas. It wasn't until the second winter she did this, that she found her Strider. In that instant, she was Drykas, and she chose to stay with the culture, with her Strider. For years, she stayed among the Topaz clan, strengthening the trade between her people's and theirs. Although she had bonded with a Strider, the young Chaktawe took years to be fully accepting, mastering their language and learning their culture. Out of necessity, she was adopted by another Topaz clan, who arranged her marriage with Rahle. She as more than happy to marry him, although she was unsure because he already married with two children.

Once they married, Chelha continued her work with trade, but began to take an interest in the stories and culture that her new Pavilion taught her. She became good friends with Rahle's first wife, and helped greatly with the Pavilion's finances, putting her intellect to use. She is a calm and steady force in the Pavilion now. Although she was born Chaktawe, none would deny her the Drykas name. Eventually she became pregnant as well, and after the tragedy of Winter, 515 AV, she took care of Rahle's first wife's children as well. Although she could never fill the spot of Rahle's first wife, she is a strong, calm woman who is a major factor in keeping the Pavilion together.

History: Not born among the Drykas, not considered Drykas, Britta's been resigned to a life of slavery. Back in Windreach, she was a scribe, a Chiet with little significance. When she was twelve, during the visitation of an Alvadian trade ship, Britta saw a chance for a better life, one where she was not subject to the caste system, and the whims of those above her. And for a while, the young Inarta made it in Alvadas. Her scribe skills were useful with the Alvadians, and she could work her way up in the confusing illusionist society. But she did not make it for long. When she turned fourteen, she was captured by visiting Svefra. They sold her to a caravan on the Kabrin road who had the intent to take her and the other cargo to Sunberth or Ravok for sale.

They didn't quite make it that far. Just before reaching the border of Sylira, the slave caravan was taken over by Drykas. The males were pointed towards Syliras, and the females, including Britta, were taken back to Endrykas. Before she even got back to the transient city, Rabard claimed her as his own, finding her foreign beauty and pale skin attractive. Although Britta knows she is still technically in slavery, she is grateful to the Drykas man because he is kind to her. Although it is her duty to bear his children, she is taught the ways of his people, and treated well despite her limitations.

Until Winter, 515AV at least. After the loss of her first son to Rabard, he became violent and perverse, less kind and compassionate for her as he had always been. Although determined and versatile, Britta is no longer the fiery Inarta she used to be. Over the years she'd grown soft-spoken and submissive to the Drykas around her. She no longer talks back, and she ducks her head. Most who visit the Pavilion hardly notice her, tending the food and staying in the tent. She is pregnant once again, which only makes her more quiet, in fear that Rabard will hurt the baby in his unexplained anger at her. Despite Rabard's new perception, Britta is treated kindly by the rest of the Firstsongs, and while she is not treated nearly like a Drykas, She's been with them for enough years that she is seen as part of the family, despite not having marriage status.

History: The oldest of the Firstsong Pavilion Siglay is the mother of the Ankal, and wife to the previous one. Siglay begun in the Diamond clan, marrying the past Ankal of the Firstsong Pavilion at the age of twelve. Despite the arranged marriage, she fell in love with her husband quickly, and his trade as well. Although rare among the Drykas, Siglay was his first and only wife, bearing two twins for him. She had the misfortune of two miscarriages after her sons, and her husband did not push her for more after that.

Although feirce, as is her heritage, Siglay has softened with time. The loss of two children after her sons, the loss of her husband, the arguments between her son over who will be Ankal, and then the loss of her family after the pirate raids has worn her down. Having outlived two strider, she is even more detached. Not many meet this old woman, she often remains in the tent or by the fire. Most her age have passed by now, but Siglay holds onto her constant state of grief. Even the children steer clear of her, although she finds comfort in listening to the stories that her people come to get preserved by her family. She does not weave them any longer, but she is always present when a story is told, even occasionally offering the telling of a fortune in return, but otherwise does not speak.

Recently, Britta has taken to taking care of her. The old woman is thin, sad and weak, and the Inarta is the only one tha Siglay bothers to speak to anymore, which made the two grow very close in the previous years. Siglay knows her attachment to the Inarta is what angers her son, as she hardly speaks to either of them, but the old woman likes the foreigner's company, and is willing to see her beat to keep her around.

History: As the oldest remaining daughter of the Ankal, Zavia is a woman of value. Although still very young, she is ready to be married. Having grown up as the second oldest child, she managed to fly under the radar as a child. Unlike her two younger siblings, Zavia was not a trickster. She enjoyed the work her Pavilion taught her, and took on the most famous trait of her clan, wisdom. Because she was the second oldest, Zavia is the most adaptable and versatile. By tradition, she had always been second choice, which has strengthened her into a communicative and witty young maiden. After her sister was engaged, Zavia was quickly the new asset for marriage contracts, and she took on the role with grace. Her intellect often makes men believe she is older than she is, but this young teen still remains youthful and lively.

After the death of her mother and older sister, Zavia nearly fell apart. Having seen their rapes and murders, having endured the former and barely escaped the latter herself, Zavia has become less of the strong woman she was before. Seemingly perpetually nervous, men now make her tense. Although she in no way amounts her beloved Drykas to the scum pirates, her willingness to marry has all but nullified, making her a problem child for the family. It is not unheard of for Ankals to enforce a marriage, but that had never been a tradition among the Firststongs, and she fears her father may choose to do so anyway.

History: Iollu was named after the Deity of Tricks, for while in the womb, she gave all the signs of being a boy. Her parents, who had two girls before her, were so excited for a boy to carry on their bloodline, they tried to get her gender confirmed by an Aurist while her mother was still pregnant. So when the hot summer night of her birth came, and she was a girl, she was named Iollu after the gender-less God. But as the child grew into a toddler, it became apparent that her name was far more accurate than her parents initially thought. Being the third child of four, and the youngest daughter, Iollu learned to go above and beyond to strive for attention.

She spent most of her earlier years with a goofy smile on her face, either by cracking her own joke or listening to someone else's. Although she enjoyed the stories and tales that her clan, the child, even as young as she was, showed an affinity for the fight. Because of this, her parents begun to think of arranging her a marriage in the diamond clan, where she would most likely be content. After losing her mother and much of her Pavilion, Iollu has calmed down considerably. She remains as sarcastic and witty as ever, but this child has gained a weary outlook on life that not many her age do, which has only strengthened her.

History: Not only is Sufrid the youngest of his Pavilion, but he is also the next in line to be Ankal. Because of this, much is expected of this young man, from becoming as wise as his father and as strong as his uncle. Still, this young man seems not to have a care in the world. Although only a year younger than his sister Iollu, he mimics her rhetoric nature, and is never seen doing work. In the harsh life of the Drykas, even the youngest must pull their weight, which he does, although no one knows how or when. More often than not, he is tying shoe laces together with his sister, rather than weaving a rug with his father.

After the death of his mother and the loss of most of his Pavilion, Sufrid learned a bit more responsibility. Like the sister he looks up to, his carefree ways have quieted. Unlike her, Sufrid adopted a fiery attitude to replace his mischievous ways. There is a solemn understanding of his duties, but also the great need to protect those he loves, despite his age. Barely a child, and he is already short tempered and committed to taking on the role of the next Ankal, and protecting his Pavilion.

History: The Starguide Pavilion is not as old as some of the larger Pavilions. Though it is not necessarily a new Pavilion neither. If one was to put an estimate at how many years the Starguides have been around, it would be a mere 90 years. The Pavilion is best known for it's excellent Wilderness Guides and Horsemanship.

It is said by many that if you need to find your way through the Sea of Grass, that the Starguides would be your best bet to make it alive. Some say it is as if Zulrav guides them through the Sea of Grass, as they sail right through as if they were a ship on the sea. Some even use the stars as guidance through the maze of grass. They are also known for their well bred and maintained Striders and Horses. People's in other cities praise how well tempered and bred the Starguide's horses are. The Horses coats are always sleek and shiny, their health optimal and their speed is almost brag worthy.

Though the Pavilion is relatively small the members are bold, fierce, and strong willed. They put a high importance on family and clan, sticking together and acting as one through all. If you were to pick on a Starguide, you are picking on the whole Pavilion and should be ready. Though they are not skilled Warriors, they still believe in protecting one another with a fierce and almost primal need. They act like a pack of wild Striders, hurt a pack member, feel the hooves of the herd.
