Before the grand mirror Evalin stood this day, turning this way and that as she examined herself. Her hands gently caressed her bare flesh, falling over smooth curves and hills of skin as her expression was thoughtful and filled with contemplation.

”For some time now I have been curious… Perhaps I should choose a form, a form that I may take whenever and wherever I wish. A form which shall BE Evalin to those around despite how my body may or may not change.”

At her side floated the Irylid, slowly hovering behind her as he whispered chilled thoughts in her ear, Is that so…? What form might be ‘Evalin’ to my Master? Now, Master, your face may change as easily as you might speak or wish it. How might you choose but ONE form?”

Evalin shrugged, pulling at the auburn hair, ”Know I not… but perhaps it shall come to me…” She frowned as she looked at the hair, ”Though I have come to realize I dislike this color…”

Her fingers intertwined into the strands, and as she did she pulled at the djed with her mental fingers which coursed through the emptiness of her meditative state. A feeling like water droplets cascading from her crown overcame her, a slight tickle and tingling and in the mirror Evalin watched with a satisfied smile as the strands of auburn died itself black like the night skin. A tick or two later and the color was changed, and with a flick of her head Evalin tossed the hair this way and that, admiring the new color, ”Black has always been more comfortable. It hides and yet it does not mask.”

Suiting to the Witch who makes her way in darkness, consuming the lights around her…

Evalin smiled broader, reaching up to gently stroke Tsenrika’s surface as he floated by her head once more, ”Indeed my dear Tsenrika. We would not wish to give others the impression that I am anything but black to the soul.”

Wretched Aura: As a Wretched One Evalin possesses an unnatural aura about her that causes unease in those who get too close. It can come as a prickle of the hair on the back of the neck, a sense of 'wrongness' about her. How people experience it is different depending on their personality and how they handle the unnatural and unknown. Animals tend to become more agitated, more easily sensing how wrong Evalin is and often avoiding contact with her.

The nuit thoughtfully tapped her chin, turning to the side to examine her body. Twisting her leg this way and that Evalin furrowed her brow, ”Still this body seems too tall… Far too tall for my liking surely.”

Tsenrika floated down Evalin’s length, to her legs and circled them now, Perhaps you simply have grown to like the child bodies you recently have inhabited…

Acting as though she didn’t hear him Evalin turned a full circle, letting her black hair swirl around her face as she came to a stop. She gently tugged on the locks again, biting her lip as she did, ”A child body is often useful… but not what I wish the histories of futures to come to remember me as. No… A body, a form that speaks Evalin has to be something… Unique.”

Raising her hand before her eyes Evalin turned her palm toward her, looking between her fingers at her reflection. Closing one eye Evalin concentrated, quieting her mind and reaching out with her will once more to pluck at the strands of djed that coursed down her arm to her hand. She played with the djed which flowed to her nails, tugging and pulling at them so that her nails lengthened and sharpened to fine points… but what a shake of her head she let the weave go and sighed, lowering her arm with a shrug, ”But WHAT could it be… What do I wish to show this world…”

As she absently thought Evalin reached back deep within herself, finding the core of her being and tracing random threads here and there to her toes, to her back, to her skin… And at her skin she paused, slightly bending the strand and the shade of color the flesh held. Still chewing her lip thoughtfully Evalin watched as her skin faded back, more and more, turning from a lightly tanned color to nearly translucent white… but still not satisfied she twisted in a sudden direction, wincing as her entire skin crawled and patches of skin here and there took on a sickly gray coloring. Blinking Evalin followed the strands of djed to those areas, felt the tatters there, the roughness even as her fingers played over the patches noticing the skin had a grainy kind of feel.

”Curious…” Evalin said allowed as she continued to examine, pulling on her djed and stretching it so that the patches of gray began to spread, connecting and flowing over her skin in a cascading surge of tingles and itchy spots until, after several chimes, her entire body was the color of sickly gray. Evalin rain her fingers over the skin, noting it was not smooth, but rather kind of rough, grainy even. Like it was dried out. Raising an eyebrow Evalin looked at Tsenrika who now floated near her right elbow, ”What think you..?”

You would blend in well within a tomb. he said simply, already circling to the other side.

Evain smiled and laughed, looking back at herself in the mirror. Her skin itched and crawled as she struggled to keep its strange color and consistency, ”Yes… Somehow it seems fitting.”

Thoughts on Changing Faces

The more she looked the more Evalin found she enjoyed the look, the texture of the skin. It was so... cold, distant. Dead even, if she were to admit to being cliche. She turned herself around once more, examining her back in the mirror before coming around once more, "Interesting... I believe this shall do very nicely... but what else? What else is Evalin...?"

She once more tapped her chin, smiling as she felt the odd skin beneath her fingers. Then she noticed her nails... Perfectly rounded, shining and still a pinkish color that did not match well in her opinion to the current state of her being. With an almost thoughtless flick her her mind Evalin traced her hands back to the djed of her nails, changing their color to black and, for added benefit, sharpened their rounded tips ever so slightly. It amazed Evalin as she extended her hand before her, how such acts which before were so difficult and required such concentration could be done with but a thought. In fact... the hardest part was starting to be remembering what they were before.

"Easily could I lose myself in this art." Evalin whispered to Tsenrika as she turned her hand this way and that before the mirror, "Were I to truely care for this bodies original looks I would be quite fearful of never remembering what I was to start with."

If you wish to have your own 'form' that embodies Evalin, the same issue you may soon have as well. Remembering what you create is, perhaps, the greatest task ahead of you. As always the Familiar pointed out the problems at hand, and Evalin had no other choice but to agree as she sighed, "Yes indeed... however I have an advantage that none other have." She reached out and took Tsenrika between her hands, bringing him before her eyes as she smiled, placing a kiss gently on his smooth face, "I have you to aid me in remembering my models for me."

Once released the Familiar floated to Evalin's left shoulder, Yes... but even my memory is not infallible.

Thoughts on Changing Faces

Tapping a nail on the glass of the mirror the nuit turned her head from side to side, her other hand carefully tracing over her features as she did so. Evalin considered playing with the more... delicate features of her face, but even the Immortal Witch was not so arrogant to think she could do such a thing without some form of problem arising. She simply was not skilled enough to play too much with the more subtle features of her body... but then, perhaps there was something else she could do.

Stepping back Evalin ran her fingers over her shoulder's and neck, "Perhaps... something here? What think you Tsenrika?"

An ornament of some form? he inquired, Something subtle that could be hidden if need be...?

"Subtle..." Evalin said softly, running one nail down her own neck and shoulder as she thought, "Then perhaps something like..."

She pulled on her will once more to manipulate the physical djed which formed her being. Moving through her inner world of quiet and peace she found it, the djed of her back and shoulders and carefully tapped it. Tingles arched over her back from her left shoulder blade, and with a tilt of her head Evalin began to pick at the strands that wove her together at the seams. The skin along her upper back and shoulders began to crack, forming diamond patterns, uneven and slightly overlapping in places as raised scales began to form over these spots. The rough, rudimentary scales moved up the sides of her neck, stopping just below her ears and ran down her spine and over her shoulder blades. They were far, far from perfect, but for the moment Evalin was not interested in perfection. She simply wished to see the effect. Each of the scales she made to overlap the one under it, raising them slightly to form curving points up. Each scale was no bigger than her own thumbnail, and were still the same color of her skin. This, however, Evalin was quick to change and with a pluck of her djed which vibrated the newly formed accessories the gray deepened to black in waves and ripples, like water droplets hitting the pond where the effect of the impact spread outwards from there until every scales was black as ink.

Closing her eyes Evalin let her mind shift down the link with her Familiar, let their senses mingle until she could see from the view of the Irylid. With the Familiar's vision she examined her work, ignoring obvious flaws for the moment to simply take in the visual affect, and what she found pleased her.

"Perhaps I have grown to admire some traits of these serpents." Evalin said as she opened her eyes to look into the mirror at her work thus far, "They have their own beauty in ways that I find desirable."

Indeed," The Familiar floated over Evalin's head, Though they lack much which makes these little graces fade to the background.

"It is true." Evalin shrugged her shoulders like she were shrugging off a cloak, and with a release of her will Evalin let the power and magic flow back from her grip, her djed beginning to slowly change back to how it was, "But hurt us not to admire things such as this."

Turning from the mirror as her work melted away like ice in the rising spring sun Evalin moved to the bed, sitting upon it and folding one leg over the other, "Some more thought shall be put into this I think to find the proper form of Evalin... For now I shall have to content myself with what I have and can acquire." She frowned as an auburn lock fell into her face, and she blew it away with an irritated scowl, "Though this hair shall have to change sooner rather than later."
