[The Silk Palace] - All I Wanted was to Weave!

Postby Atria on April 13th, 2014, 8:15 pm

Atria walked along in boredom, randomly checking shops. Many had tried to get her to buy things, but Atria snapped at them and they clammed up. Well, most of them at least. The few that didn't, well, she just went out of the shop in annoyance. She kept walking, then found a fabric shop, them went in just for the hell of it. The Silk Palace, it was called. A small chime came from the door opening, and there was another girl being pestered by two ladies.

One turned to look at her, and she shrugged, the other following her. "Hello, how may-" She other continued the sentence, which Atria found odd. "We help you?" She smiled at them politely, then replied, "I'll just walk around to browse. Thanks, though. " The girls looked at each other, looking a bit hurt, then she just sighed mentally. "Fine, fine, you can follow me around. You better not get me to buy things, though." The last sentence had an annoyed hint in it, and she started to walk around, looking at the fabrics. She didn't know how to weave, even. How this was made was beyond her.

She kept walking, ignoring the quiet whispers of the two girls. "You want to see something really nice?" One suddenly blurted out, and the other continued the talk. "It's over there." Atria nodded. "Lead the way, then." Atria didn't care much about clothing, but she had nothing else to do. She followed as they showed her a piece of fabric, which was nice, but she couldn't really care, but sounded like it was the most wonderful thing she had seen. It wasn't, though- she preferred the outside.

"Would you-" Atria's head snapped up as she heard the beginning of the "would you like to buy this", and said with an annoyed hiss, "No." She was quite sick of that sentence, and the other girl looked at her with a hurt look, and now Atria couldn't care less. She walked away, the girls talking to one another, taking glances at her from time to time. She shrugged as she felt the fabrics.

[The Silk Palace] - All I Wanted was to Weave!

"Winona, The Deaf Spirit"

Wandering down the streets of Zentia like a ghost, was a young deaf
girl. Unable to hear the bickering and bustling of sales around her, she was
content as long as they didn't jump into her face to startle her. Her long, inky
black hair was let free with small braids tied with feathers here and there. Her
loose dress up left her a bit chilled, her body made for the desert sun. Her kohl
black eyes darting left and right for something interesting. Nothing really caught
her eye. As she slowly maneuvered around citizens and merchants, she could
feel holes burning through her skin. She still wasn't used to the attention from
all the people in this new city. Winona rubbed her hands together, her fingers
growing irritated and itchy from all the movement around her.

Just before she was about to turn the street corner, a colorful attraction caught
her eye. Was is this? She trotted over to the shop, the goods splayed out in the
window interested Winona. Different fabrics and designs used for sewing and
weaving was their specialty. She glanced up, her eyes followed the curly lines
upon the sign of the shop and tracing it with her finger in the air. If Lorettana
taught her to read common in cursive instead of print, she would have read, 'The
Silk Palace.' Reminiscing the times she was able to weave baskets with her tribe
flooded her mind. She hadn't practice weaving in such a long time. She even
forgot all the techniques she used to be able to do. Perhaps she would buy a few
threads to weave Lorettana something nice. She was still mad about the whole
paper thing, even if she said she moved on. Motivated to learn again, she pushed
open the doors and entered the shop.

Just as she entered, there was almost no one in the shop except for three girls.
Two looked very much alike which was interesting to Winona. She never seen
identical twins before. She was tempted to pinch one to see if the other would
squeal. Just in front of the twins, a tall, blonde woman stood there browsing the
goods, green horns sprouting from her head. She looked bothered by the twins
speaking. She couldn't read their lips since they faced away from her but she
could spot their jaws lopping up and down very fast. Suddenly, the girls turned
to face her with awe and curiosity plastered across their faces as they bustled
over to greet her.

"Hello, how may-" The first twin started,
"We help you?" The second finished.

Winona rose an eyebrow, unable to understand what they just said. Their lips
moved quite fast and they both almost spoke at the same time, leaving Winona
in the dust. She awkwardly pretended not to see them, even though she
clearly stared at them when they spoke, skirting past them to peek at the
products.

"See anything-"
"You like?" They asked curiously, almost in perfect union.
They ignored the fact that Winona had just rudely avoided them.

Winona's deaf ears did them no good, her eyes not facing them as she picked out
a pretty pale pink material. They glanced at each other with confused looks.
Instead of politely tapping Winona's shoulder, which they seemed pretty scared
to do with her rare racial features, they nosily followed along behind her. Just as
they did with the pretty blonde lady when she walked in. Winona's fingers
tingled as they kept shifting and peering over her shoulder. Eventually, she
turned to face them. They jumped back quickly and eagerly waited for her to
speak.

"What you want? I just look. Is that crime?" Her voice was warbled and a thick
tawna accent flowed like a creek from her lips.

"Perhaps, you did not hear us-"
"But would you like to purchase that?"
The second girl pointed to the material in her hand.

Winona glanced at the two again, furrowing her eyebrows and squinting at them.
She was attempting to decipher what they had just said. Winona glanced over at
the blonde woman for help. The stranger being an ethaefal, she assumed that
they were all easy to read due to her lack of knowledge and naivety. "What they
say? I not understand."

This was going to be awkward.

[The Silk Palace] - All I Wanted was to Weave!

Postby Atria on April 15th, 2014, 1:11 am

Atria smirked a little when the door opened and she heard the pestering to the person that came in. She kept going, feeling the fabrics, some rough and some smooth. She tried to not hear the pestering, but they were even trying harder with this one. She took a quick glance behind her, trying to see who was being pestered. It was a lady, standing at roughly 6 foot, a bit shorter though. The back was turned, so she just looked back at the fabrics. She realized the lady hadn’t spoke once, even though she was being pestered quite a bit. By now, Atria would’ve snapped and ran out, and perhaps slapped one of them. She kept going, and the comments were making her annoyed with each second.

She was about to walk to the door in irritation, touching the smooth cloth one more time when she heard the woman speak. "What you want? I just look. Is that crime?” The accent was tawna, she thought it was called, and warbled, which surprised her. Most people she knew could speak Common fluently, but she supposed that was only because she only knew Lhavit and Syrilas. Her thoughts were soon interrupted by the girls pestering the lady, though she said she wanted them to stop. She decided enough was enough and she would actually leave, but stopped when she heard the woman speak to her.

“What they say? I not understand.” The voice was warbled again.

She turned, examining the woman’s features. Charcoal colored eyes, and copper colored skin. Freckles were on her nose. She was quite thin, perhaps not to the point she was healthy. Another thing that surprised her was the stripe across her face. She didn’t know why she had that, but perhaps it was symbolic? She realized she had yet to respond, her voice sounding harsh, “They want you to buy their fabrics. In the most annoying way possible.” The last part was spoken louder, though the ending was mostly mumbled to herself. She looked at the girls, which she looked at with distaste. “Please, if you're going to try to sell things, please don’t pester them. It just makes us not want to buy things.” The voice was less harsh, but she kept the distasteful gaze.

"Winona, The Deaf Spirit"

Winona raised an eyebrow once the ethaefal spoke. Her lips moving a bit
differently than she had expected. The ethaefal's expression was narrowed and
irritable as she quickly darted her eyes to the twins behind Winona. This made
her a bit more disheveled. Yes, she was much easier to read but the way her
mouth formed the words was unfamiliar. Did all the people of Lhavit speak with
a different tongue? She would have to ask Lorettana to clarify for her. There
were many things she did not know about this place, which meant more
lectures... Ugh, but the more she knew the better.

"They want you to buy their fabrics. In the most annoying way possible."
She said, putting a hand on her hip and giving them a look that was familiar to
Winona. Lorettana usually expressed the same look when someone asked what
Winona was. With that, Winona struggled to suppress a grin. Winona flipped her
head the side to study the twins, assuming they'd say something in reply. She
missed what the ethaefal said when she looked away but the twins responded
with hurt and shamed looks.

"We were-" Mae put a hand to her heart.
"Only trying to help." And Lae suddenly brightened.

"Perhaps we should get Shilo Hai!"
"Yes! Lets!" With haste, they rushed over to the back room.

Unsure what plan they have just formulated in front of them, Winona returned
her gaze to the beautifully tall ethaefal. Blush powdered her cheeks with
embarrassment. "Thank for help. Sorry I drag in mess." She folded the
pale pink fabric clutched in her hand and placed it back in it's shelf. "I do
want buy some... But not sure what."
Winona tucked her wily hair behind
one ear, looking around at the variety. "Know any good for weaving only?"

She sighed as the girls ran off, and she muttered, "Let's hope this person isn't as..annoying." She leaned back into the wall, playing with her fingers absentmindedly, until she heard the girl speak. "Thank for help. Sorry I drag in mess." She simply shrugged. "It's fine, honestly." She soon answered her question, saying, "I don't know anything about weaving. Didn't have anything to do, so decided to just walk around. This looked nice, so I went in." She looked where the girls left, and soon she heard steps coming from the hall, along with soft whispering. A tall, thin woman appeared, which she assumed was Shilo.

Atria smiled at bit at Shilo. "Nice place you have here, Mistress Hai." Shilo smiled back at her, and answered back, "Please, just call me Shilo." She nodded. "Fine. My friend here wants some fabrics, though she doesn't know what she wants." Atria glanced back, then realized the two girls weren't there, which was perfectly fine with her. "I don't need anything." She said hastily as she noticed Shilo's mouth open, perhaps to ask what she wanted.

[The Silk Palace] - All I Wanted was to Weave!

Postby Winona_Heath on April 19th, 2014, 5:00 am

"Winona, The Deaf Spirit"

Winona rubbed her fingers together, the ethaefal's small movements
teasing her sensitive chaktawe senses. Once the woman responded, she
brightened. Although the ethaefal was of no help to her, she was still fascinated
by the fact that she was real at all. "Oh, that fine. I used weave all time in
old home. Not anymore. I forgot how a little."

Before Winona could do something weird like stare intensely at the ethaefal or
even try to touch her face, a clatter vibrated within her fingertips. She twisted
her head left and right, until a rather young woman appeared from the back
room where the twins have disappeared. "... Shilo." Winona managed to
catch the name. Speaking of names, she never bothered to ask for the blonde's
name! However, it would be strange if she tried to ask now, so she kept quiet,
trying to catch up with their conversation.

The conversation was quick and straight to the point, causing Winona to give a
helpless look to the ethaefal. "What type of fabrics are you looking for?"
The woman asked, twisting around and strutting to a large desk. Shilo patted the
desk as a signal for one of the girls to sit on the opposite side of her where a
small, comfy arm-chair took place. Instead of leaving the ethaefal behind to
either leave or go on browsing, she instinctively held the blonde's hand.

She didn't think of it as doing anything wrong, but it might have seemed a bit
strange considering that they had just met. Winona didn't easily trust anyone,
but any ethaefal would win her friendship right away. If they were Lorettana's
kind, they had to be good people. Winona slowly approached the couch with a
firm grip on the blonde's hand. She took a seat and glanced up at the ethaefal,
waiting for her to interpret, blissfully unaware of how the stranger to react to
her naive behavior.

And with this, she had a big smile plastered across her face. ' Friend! '

[The Silk Palace] - All I Wanted was to Weave!

Postby Atria on April 20th, 2014, 1:51 pm

Atria was absently looking around, bored, but that all snapped back when suddenly the girl had her hand around hers, not gently, but rather firm. The Chaktawe looked happy, which she supposed was fine, but.. She blushed a little, feeling a bit embarrassed, and felt hint of annoyance at the Chaktawe. She tried to gently shake her hand away, which didn't seem to work.

She sighed, deciding that she should just get used to it. "She wants to know what fabric you want." She said the words slowly so she could read her mouth. Why was she holding her hand? They just met, afterall, and weren't close friends. Plus, holding hands felt odd. It made her feel.. Well, awkward. She could feel the blush rising on her cheeks, and decided to try to just, well, think of something else.

There wasn't much for her to think about, really, without her scowling and feeling slightly wanting to kill the gods. She felt herself turning slightly stiff, then she tried to think about waves hitting the beach. She heard that sound so many times, to the point it was somewhat boring, but at least it had a tiny hint of relaxation and not anything too angry. As she thought this, the grip was becoming tighter, perhaps to the point where it hurt for the Chaktawe.

"Winona, The Deaf Spirit"

Winona watched as the ethaefal's lips started to move in response to her
body language. "She wants to know what fabric you want." It came out slow
and cautious, and almost a bit embarrassed. The chaktawe didn't mind though,
she was too busy putting her sentences together for a reply. Winona's hands felt
a bit sweaty from the ethaefal's tightened grip. Her sensitive fingers tingling
from the salty liquid. Winona slowly let go, as if the ethaefal were about to bolt
and she'd have to quickly grab her again. However, this was not the scenario, in
fact, the ethaefal looked more relieved once she let her hand out of the grip.
Winona wiped her hands on her tan, harem pants without thinking that it might
offend the woman.

"You have fabric for weaving?" Winona asked in a bold and forward voice a bit
loudly. The woman, Shilo Hai, did not flinch or even appear shocked by this.
Instead, she beamed at the chaktawe's request. "But of course! Mae! Lae! Come
forth at once!"
The twin girls peeked out of the back room door, as if they were
already listening into the conversation. At the sound of Shilo's voice, they bustled
out, standing on each side of the sales woman. She barely batted an eye as
she barked out orders. "Bring me all the materials we have in this store that
is perfect for weaving!"
Almost immediately, the girls dashed away again,
giggling as they left for the back room. Winona made sure to watch the
ethaefal's lips as she continued to interpret.

Winona took this opportunity to beckon the ethaefal closer. She leaned forward
to whisper in her ear. "I forgot ask name." She peeked at Shilo out of the corner
of her eye as if the sales woman were trying to listen in on their deepest secret.
She whispered lower, "My is Winona. Thank for help so very." And with this, the
chaktawe relaxed in her chair again smiling, waiting for the twins to come back
out again. They were taking a lot longer than she had anticipated. Maybe there
were a lot more materials she could buy than she thought.

"Are there any colors that you had in mind to narrow your search?" Shilo
Hai added as they waited for the assistants.

[The Silk Palace] - All I Wanted was to Weave!

Postby Atria on April 23rd, 2014, 2:38 pm

She felt thankful as the grip loosened, and she rubbed her hand against her pants, not really caring. Suddenly, the Chaktawe's said it needed fabric to weave- loudly, unlike the last few times she had spoke. Shilo, was of course, happy with this ( meant more minas, of course.. ), and called Lae and Mae again. The girls looked quite happy as they came in, one giving a cheeky look towards Atria. She scowled, as Shilo gave them orders, and they ran, giggling. She couldn't help but roll her eyes and sigh.

Suddenly, the Chaktawe pulled her gently towards her, and she bent down slightly, to catch the words: "My is Winona." She assumed that was her name, and she hastily whispered back, "Atria. Nice to meet ya." She stood back up again, absentmindedly tapping her fingers to her chair, when Shilo asked what fabrics she would like. "What colors do you want for the fabric?" She translated, when Lae and Mae came back, lots of fabrics in their hands. They placed it on the table, and Atria had to admire the fabrics. She didn't know how to make these, afterall.

"Any of these that you like?" Shilo asked, leaning back on her chair, and Atria translated again, touching a smooth fabric, and rubbing it between her hands. It was a nice color, too, a soft blue, but she didn't know anything about weaving, so what was the point of buying it?
