Of average build and height for a Charoda, Toruk’s most distinguishing figure lies in his unusually colored crimson fins. Despite this obvious and offsetting physical peculiarity, Toruk, perhaps unwisely, carries himself with a sense of cool confidence which even perplexes members of his own race. Eye’s bright, blue, and full of wonder, Toruk stands at the ready to discover this strange world of earth and air. Always searching for something new and exciting, Toruk will push hard against the current in order to satiate his ever-expanding curiosity. Toruk, as an amenable person, is at his happiest when he can share a moment of great joy or discovery with a friend or ally. With such an insatiable appetite for knowledge, Toruk has a nasty tendency to ask questions that are both piercing and inappropriate for his station. An academic at heart, Toruk is an ardent student of history, archaeology, and any science of the past. He is adept at the analysis and application of historical events to modern situations, and oftentimes finds delight in his ability to predict the outcome of events due to their historical probability. The way he sees it, men and women of all races are as just as predictable as their ancestors, and their ancestors before them. However, Toruk is often and consistently surprised by the inherent, unpredictable natures of Mizahar’s other races. He believes strongly in the power of education, and finds nothing more sorrowful than a hateful, ignorant person. Toruk's ultimate goal is the pursuit of pure information, which had landed the Charoda in some rather interesting situations at times. Once he sees something that has the potential to educate him, he will stop at nothing to obtain said object; legally or otherwise. Back in his aquatic homeland, Toruk was known for acquiring books and objects that did not necessarily belong to him. Stealing these objects did not mar his conscience however, as he simply believed that if he thought an object important to his growth, he should have it. Toruk often rationalizes this by understanding that while his actions may be "unlawful" according to the authorities, they aren't truly bad if he harms no one. Character History Born in Charbosi to a rather mild-mannered family of Charodae scholars, Toruk quickly became his parent’s worst nightmare. He was adventurous child, and was often found wandering past the cities limits in search of some ancient relic or dangerous species that the other Charoda children whispered about. Energetic, wild, and driven by impulse, his parents quickly sought some way of reforming their bold child, and succeeded once they stuck history in front of him. Toruk’s once wild energy was then focused into an unrelenting drive to learn more about this mysterious world that lay out of the water’s reach. As he aged into adolescence, so did his knowledge grow, and Toruk quickly found himself enrolled in a prestigious school located within Charbosi. But he was not made to sit still, always reading but experiencing. Toruk wanted to be out in the field, to meet these new and interesting species, to integrate himself in strange and foreign cultures, to live as different man in a different land. So, at the age of twenty, Toruk left his city, ignored his parent’s warnings, and booked passage to Zeltiva with a trade caravan.
