This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

Towery's Gambling is a little place off of the west bank. Though lacking in the extreme extravagance of other places in the city, there is a surplus of rum and many pursuits for gambling to be had. The building is aged, but magnificent, showing its splendor in reverence to the patron God, Ovek. Upon entrance to the casino, one sees a long, checkerboard carpet spread from the doors showing the various tables in the room. A bar runs along the right side of the casino, with Towery associating with the patronage and serving drinks. Several slaves run the floor, though it is invariably a freeborn that runs the games.

The furniture is also old, but maintained with care. Though the/ exterior of the building has fallen to some disrepair, it is obvious that Towery does not allow for a lax cleaning staff. The glasses that rum and ale are served in are clean and clear of all lipstick smudges, the tables are wiped down until they shone. The decor is rustic and more leaning towards primitive with the animal hides that are plastered on the walls but after a few drinks and excitement of winning -or crushing spirit of losing- one forgets about the 'protohuman' decorations. In fact, the primal state, for some, even encourages a sort of regression, a rush that encourages their gambling and excitement.

The games that ran in here were the simple games of the region. Bones, cups, and cards. Dice games have multiple tables dedicated to it. Each table is dedicated to a single game, and each game has its own Freeborn dealer. The card table has a green layer over the top, and a box of chips to keep track of winnings. The dice table is adorned with a lip that runs the edge, to keep the dice on the table top. Inside the lip are markings that denote different rolls and throws and their winning percentage. There is a single cups table, because of the low stakes of the game. Only the poor, almost non-existent in Kenash, would waste their time on it. All freeborn game runners are equipped openly with daggers on their hips.

The slaves that run the floor are all women, none of them with scarring aside from their brand. A wealthy man in spite his freeborn status, these slaves are lovely, Towery is insistent on keeping them unmarked. Scantily-clad and voluptuous, Towery will, for a price, allow his patronage to solicit the company of one or more of his slaves for an evening, allowing access to a private room for the right price.

Towery, due to the nature of his business, is allowed a greater number of slaves than most Freeborn, though it is legitimized under the common guise of the slaves being shared among him and his employees.

Towery's Casino

The shrine is set in the center of Towery's Gambling, the Omaru-blessed's dedication to his God shown for all to see. A sculpture of a metallic, six-fingered hand holding a large, six-sided die is set upon an altar adorned with fine linen. Upon the linen is a semi-circle of dice, groupings of six allotted each a number and set in ascending order, the circle ending with two dice, the 'one face' showing, expressing snake eyes.

Within the semi-circle are a collection of playing chips and mizas, a portion of Towery's earnings, reverently spread along the table and offered to the God each day before being re-invested into the casino, refurbishing the tables, buying new sets of cards and dice, or fixing other problems that may occur. This occurs in a cycle of six days within the season, beginning on the sixth and ending on the 90th. At the very base of the sculpture is a single sixer, comprised of gold, set in the exact same way as the sculpture itself.

The shrine is in place to allow worshipers and gamblers alike to flock to Ovek, whether it is to ask him for luck, to fix a game, or to curse the opposition, it matters not. Prayers are not held by any sort of priest, for such a thing would not fit the environment of the casino, though a moment of silence is held at the sixth bell after noon of each day, when a portion of the day's earnings are offered to Ovek.

Due to the exorbitant value of the items set upon the shrine's altar, guards are posted at the shrine in pairs of two. Generally, one of these guards is a sword wielder and the other a spear wielder, though Towery can see it fit to hire or fire any guards based on their behaviour and effectiveness. A total of twelve guards are hired by Towery, shifts lasting approximately six hours before a new set of guards replaces the last.

*Any Freeborn PC wishing to be a guardRequirements are the same as the guard requirements in the income section of the Price List. 5 GM per day base pay. can ask a Storyteller and arrangements can be made.

This sub-location is free to self-moderate.
