This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

I felt like I should pop in and say a little something in here, just to let people know that I'm up for a thread or two. Maybe three or four if I can. xD
Got a thread idea that you want to let me know about? I want to hear it!

Greetings Kenashians!

I'm sorry to say it, but I've been rather inactive for the past week or so and that's not doing right by any of you. I'm going to clear the queue and get to posting up for all of my moderated threads as soon as possible.

To all of you who I owe replies to, I'm sorry, but Vice will deliver! Promise.

Fashion! :D

Honestly, I'd never given much though to mizahar fashion before. Although when I think about it, I realize that each city has got some rather interesting styles. Kenash has no defined styles that I can find in written text, so I would like to put forth some of the ideas swirling in my brain based off of the images I've seen. Mainly the elegant type of fashion and less of the casual type. Vice has established the colors and materials that are trending. Silks and laces, Blues and silvers. Well the types of garments weren't very specified, so here is my thoughts on them:

For men, I was thinking 1820-30s fashion in England with a few alterations. Obviously it's summer and it is hot. No one wants to parade around in seven layers of clothes. Instead of jackets and coats, the men would wear colorful embroidered, lace or brocade vests over relatively plain shirts. The vests would be fitted while the shirts would be slightly loose, airing out the arms and giving a comfortable fit in the summer heat. It's also very acceptable to roll up your sleeves. Instead of that strange stiff-neck look in the pictures I have, there could be a loose silk scarf. Simply for decoration and tied loosely to allow circulation, thankfully silk is not a heavy material and so it would work well for this. The scarves are truly sort of a replacement for bow ties and regular ties. It could be a trend to embroider the family symbol onto the scarf for Dynasty members. The long pants could also replaced by breeches. Not the crazy breeches that poof out of your thigh, but just sorter trousers with long with socks tucked in at the knee. Also, shoes would simply be dress shoes. Top-hats seem a bit odd and they aren't on the price-list, however they can be worn if you wish. A kerchief or agate brooch can be added to the breast pocket for extra decoration. The idea of the fashion is to be colorful in the summer heat and also show how well the person can put together an outfit as fashionable as possible.

As for women, I glanced at the 1820-30s England attire, and the giant poofs seems to be very uncomfortable in the summer heat and in general. So instead of carrying around 120 pounds of skirts, the women will get thin dresses. I was thinking around 1780's England this time? Two to three thin layers at most for the skirts. The fashion in it will come from the decorations on the skirts and torso. It could also be a trend to have the back of the skirt come out or twist up in a certain way. Lace is favored as well as interesting designs and beading/embroidery. Sleeves do not have to b full length either, quarter sleeves and sleeveless dresses or tops are plenty acceptable in the heat. Instead of scarves, the women are expected to wear beaded necklaces to go with earrings or rings. Their hair can be worn up or down, depending on their preference. Should they decide to wear them up, beads and colorful clothes to tie them up with.

These are simply some ideas. I know there is not a lot of variation, but I just whipped this up so ... xD The pictures are what I'm talking about basing them off of. What do you guys think? What are your ideas?

Sounds like a decent fashion concept to me. I really like the idea of cowboy-esque neckerchiefs. Top hats wouldn't fit but neckerchiefs could work. For some odd reason I also imagine that any Kenash mercenaries would use spears or rapiers. At least, I don't imagine they'd be all plated up. It would simply be too hot for that.

There are some lighter forms of armor that are easier to walk around in. I imagine light crossbows would be carried by those preferring to not wear armor, for some good range and ease of use.

Anyway, I just wanted to post to say that there is a new dynast in town. Don't worry, he's not going to buy your homes and steal your money. He just wants to sell you some cookies and get to know you better. :P I'm hoping to get a little cafe up and running on the East Bay, still waiting on Gillar for that, but until then a lot of things can happen. Edmund's a talkative little shyke, so go ahead and let me know if you want to thread.
Edmund is currently suspended. Apologies!
