Rearing To Go!

Postby Russell Wood on April 12th, 2014, 10:16 am

4th Day, spring, 514
Russell found himself waking up extremely early that day, maybe it was the excitement from the day before, or the headache that forced him to go to sleep earlier that day. He looked around and noticed that everything looked normal once more; he came a little too close the day before. But that only caused him to want to improve that much more. Russell could feel the need to do more magic, whether that was caused by left-over sweet whispers or his own thoughts didn’t matter to him. He just needed to get ready.

Russell stepped out onto the street once he had gotten ready, and he could somehow already tell things were amiss. He couldn’t tell what it was, maybe he was still a little drowsy that morning, but there seemed to be something missing. He couldn’t help but feel a little frustrated once he noticed what was wrong. The Ravosalamen where all gone, he couldn’t see a single one around, and it annoyed him. Russell had no need for them....Yet. But it was he always did like having the opportunity to travel around open to him, and losing the Ravosalamen did annoy him. He shook his head, he was just over-reacting. He had woken up extremely early that day, there’s no way they could be up and about at this time.

Or so he tried to convince himself, he had to walk toward the abandoned back-street area that was near the docks. It was still very early, and it was still particularly cold, Russell was glad that he had brought his coat. He couldn’t see anyone around, it seems as if he’d have to go deeper, Russell found himself wondering where the man from the other day had gone, maybe he’d been sold off as a slave. Not like Russell cared too much, he did find himself wondering why he’d given him money, but it was a small price to pay for advancing his skill.

While he currently could not find anyone, Russell decided that maybe practicing another skill would be more beneficial. There did seem to be quite a bit of rubbish lying around, and it was beginning to bother him as the deeper he moved in the worse the smell in the area seemed to get. Maybe it’d pay off to banish this all to the void, that did seem like a pretty great idea now that Russell thought about it.

Rearing To Go!

Postby Russell Wood on April 12th, 2014, 11:45 am

Russell closed his eyes, he needed to be completely calm for this, and nothing else should distract him as he was going to go about it. He made sure to check that no-one was around, not in the immediate vicinity anyway. He took a number of deep breaths; the cold lake-side air was slowly blowing past him. Caressing his face with its cold touch, Russell began to clear his mind; he had to do this carefully.

The young man could feel his Djed slowly seep out of his body, it wasn’t much at the moment but it slowly increased. While at the same time Russell was concentrating on clearing his mind. He slowly allowed any worries about being seen to flow away, into the recesses of his mind. The risks that came with the magic drifted away too. Anything that could hinder him became something that he didn’t need to worry about that at the minute. Improving himself came first, anything else could come after. Russell could feel his Djed emptying out the area in front of his hands; it was being emptied faster and faster. What felt like an eternity was in actuality around a few seconds, the first spark had been ignited, and with that a hole toward another world had been opened.

Russell knew the risks involved in doing this, but at the moment it didn’t matter to him all that much, if he was caught he’d simply turn this on them, or he’d do a runner. Either way he’d be fine, plus it wasn’t like he stood out all that much. Russell saw the portal to the other side open wider until it reached the desired size. It was about a quarter of a human body’s size.

Russell could feel the familiar heat build up in the back of his head, he had other plans today, he couldn’t waste much time on this, or Djed. He saw the pull of the portal bringing in some of the rubbish, it wasn’t strong, but he didn’t need it to be strong either, it was doing the job he wanted it to do. He made sure that only the things facing the portal where pulled in, he didn’t want to get sucked inside himself, well it took some practice to get this far. Russell could see the fruits of his labour pan out right in front of him, and it filled him with pride.

Rearing To Go!

Russell felt the pull on his djed as he continued to fuel the portal in front of him, he had to push it a little more, and he might as well get something good out of this, Russell was still planning to get his citizenship today, so it wasn’t like he could play around all that much. He pulled on more of his djed to increase the pull, he willed it and as he wanted it to more trash was being pulled into the swirling portal of darkness.

Russell felt sweat fall down the side of his face, this was something that was straining his body a little, he had used quite a bit of djed the night before, so he knew that pushing himself too much today could have a rather bad impact on him. But the urge to increase the pull was growing, and he couldn’t help but will it, this feeling was familiar to him, it had happened a number of times. He could feel his head pulsing as he continued to fuel the portal, the pull on the trash scattered around was causing them to fly into his portal, and away into the void never to be seen again by mortal men.

What was it about this magic that was so intoxicating? It made him want to push at its limits and see what he could possibly do to get better at it. The whole experience of using this was something that he could never grow tired of, the swirling mass that continued not only to pull on the rubbish in front of him, but also at the inhibitions and worries stopping him from increasing the pull, the size of the portal. He willed it to move forward a little, and took a step forward himself. His arms were growing tired, how long had be been going at it for? Who knew, but this urge and the heat in his head were growing by the second.

Russell began to notice his arms shaking, not out of fatigue but rather due to the lack of djed. Was he pushing himself too far? Who could tell, but Russell continued on, the pull increased once more but this time the rubbish all flew in. Russell was attacked by pins and needles, not in the literal sense, but his arms and legs all began to shake a little, it was steadily growing, and they began to become a little numb. A rather sudden spasm shot up his arm, and Russell closed the portal, he didn’t need to push it any further, this was enough, no more games, he was playing with his life at the moment. With that thought in mind, he took a deep breath, that one was close. How could he lose control? He had felt this feeling before yet he never learned, voiding was truly a rose in every sense of the word. With that fleeting thought Russell moved away to go get himself registered.
