91st of Winter 513AV just after the 12th bell
It all started with a letter left on a table in Turrin's quarters along with a few items that belonged to the Symenestra woman.
Dearest Brother, We both knew where this riot was headed, and we hit the nail right on the head so to speak. Meaning to live is to leave here. It's funny, I came to Wind Reach seeking safety as a child and now I must leave here to find safety as a woman now. Things like this are called 'going full circle' or something like that, right? No one knows when Wind Reach will settle down and be safe for me again. But don't fret over me Turrin. There is a place I shall go, not far from here.
There's a cave near here, used and known only by deks. So, how do I know this? Taln. I've always been in good standings with the deks. I trust you'll come fetch me when it's safe. I'll wait for however long it takes. Being an Endal you won't be allowed near the entrance of said cave, in fact someone will attempt to lure you away. Ignore his decoy and keep straight on you're path, he'll be bound to come back to try and play decoy again. But if you tell him you are seeking the Symenestra who is hiding inside because it is safe to come home. They'll get me for you.
I've left a few thing here with you for safe keeping. Drusilla
Along with the letter sat a sewing box, a bracelet, Drusilla's heirloom hair comb, and an all too familiar black dress. All things that would get in her way. Turrin would keep them safe.
Drusilla had killed and eaten the mice she had been raising in her room. They had giveb her much needed energy to make her trip to Turrin's home and now her escape.
She stood at the Sanikas Gates, clad in her Symenestra wraps and cloak. Eyeing the gate she sighed, this was going to be cold.. Drusilla removed her shoes putting them temporarily in her bag. She began her climb over the wall she had been right the gate was cold, but she made her way over the top and down the outer side. She quickly removed her shoes from her bag and put them on. Remembering the deks' instructions she had gathered over time she made her way to the Bronaugh Den. |

The dek peeked out from behind a veil of sorts and hurried her in. "Speak quietly, unless you want the stalactites to start falling and take someone out." He whispered to her. Drusilla nodded and turned to look around the cave a fair number of deks were hiding here at the moment.
"So you be one of them Symenestra things? You look strange enough. Don't most of you live in a cave?" Drysol questioned her. They were valid questions to the dek. As elusive as Drusilla tended to be, staying out of sight to most. Otherwise the whispers would start. It was very plausible that Drysol had never actually seen her or a Symenestra in general. "Yes, most of us live in a large cave, we call Kalinor. The cave is so vast that no one is sure how far down the floor is. Monsters roam the floor of the cave so any one who ventures down to the ground never returns. We live up near the ceiling of the cave, some of our buildings are carved into the cave's stalactites."
Drysol gave her a look, "Must be pretty big to fit a building inside one of 'em." Drusilla nodded, "Some of them are pretty big. So we easily build in them." She thought back to the large rock structures her kind often built in, she had seen smaller rooms in Wind Reach than the rooms built into the rock back home. |

"Yer a strange one girl, but come in, come in. Got no color to yer face, look as pale as death." Drysol continued to mumble thing to himself about the strange woman and her complexion and her arms and her nails and anything else he found strange. "Got herself purple eyes..." Clearly nothing of this sort happened here a strange raced woman asking for shelter. It was probably one of the most exciting things or confusing that had ever happened to the old Dek.
The others within the cave gave her greetings that varied from person to person. Some simply gave a head nod of acknowledgement, were as some of the residents who knew her were bold enough to wave. Those who waved knew Drusilla posed little threat to them despite her race, as she too was an outsider in Wind Reach society. Although never abused like the Deks for fear of what she was, a poisoned woman with incredible acrobatic climbing skills. While both were true she had never bit anyone or carried them off into the night. |

Drusilla walked along the area where the deks set up what little bedding they had. Most looked away as she passed, not that avoided eye contact was anything new to the Symenestra. As she walked she found a vacant spot near a young women. Before she simply made the space hers, she turned to the women. "Excuse me Miss, is this spot taken?"
The young woman jumped at Drusilla's voice. Her eyes looking over the white being. Deeming Drusilla not a threat she nodded, "Yeah, it's free... But I wouldn't recommend setting up here though..." She noticed Drusilla's saddened look, "N-not because you are you!" She pointed to a hole in the wall, "The rats like to come over here and be a bother."
Drusilla raised an eyebrow, "Rats? Don't you guys hunt them?" When the women shook her head 'no' Drusilla grinned, "Well I will. They're good source of food... One just has to be quick enough to catch them." The Symenestra mused. |
