The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

Kaik had found himself in a very unfortunate situation. Two gold and a few silvers were all he had left. If he didn't find a job by the end of the season he would die. He looked over to Arya who was keeping the house clean, the very thought of selling her made him think selling himself off as a slave was the better option. As this thought passed a word seemed to pop into his mind...Maeki...I think she owns a studio around here...I hope she's taking workers Kaik thought as he looked out the window It's still daytime, good less people out. He hurried to the door but not before saying goodbye and instructing Arya to continue cleaning the house.
Walking through the streets he could hear murmurs and could see the suspicion of people's eyes as he walked through the streets. People believed he was cursed and why shouldn't they? Losing Ellen and both his parents seemed to be more than just coincidence, when he is the only one left alive. They soon started to believe he killed his own family and friend. Kaik continues to walk, ignoring the whispers surrounding him.
Arriving at the studio, he double checks his surrounding to make sure he was in the right place. The studio looked like any other house. Looking at the door the words "Animation Studio!" were scrawled over it. Kaik was surprised, he expected an illustrious building not such a simple house. He knocks at the door waiting for a response "Yes! Come in!" he does as the voice says. The interior of the house didn't betray its outer appearance, simple and ordinary. "Over here!" the voice called from the left side of the entrance.
A stunning young women sits behind a cluttered table. In fact the room looked to be a mess, pieces of paper scatter the room along with books and quills. "Hello! Maeki Cho at your service! How can I help you?" Maeki said cheerily. "Um, I was hoping to work as an assistant and er...I wanted to learn more about animation while I help do anything that needs to be done like paperwork or errands and um..." Maeki begins to giggle and says "Would you like some tea?" Kaik nods in response. Maeki leaves for the kitchen while Kaik lets his eyes wander. She seems like a nice person the smile she wore looked genuine...but he couldn't help but remember the genuine smile Ellen had as she laid dying on her bed. Maeki returns with two cups of tea on a tray, she tries to make room for it on the desk. Kaik picks up the cup tea and takes a sip, it was sweet and the tea gave him a feeling of warmth. "It's very good," Kiak said. Maeki simply smiles and has a sip of the tea herself. "Shall we talk about your employment then?" She said. Kaik nods, ready to prove himself able for the job. |

"You are Kaik Leyr, correct?" Maeki asks. I forgot to tell her my name! "Y-yes! I am!" Kaik said. An awkward silence arises as she looks at Kaik with curiosity. He take another sip of tea before Maeki says "It's good you're willing to help do errands and the like but I think the most important thing is your animation skills." She points at the animation circle behind me and says "Please give me a taste of your skills, animate this book" She hands him a book from the desk on the history of Lhavit. Kaik takes the book and walks over to the circles placing it in one circle while he stood in the other. He takes out his dagger to cut his thumb allowing blood to drip on the circle. The circle glows black as Kaik close his eyes focusing his mind. Maeki watches patiently knowing the animation process took time even on the most mundane of things.
The sun begins to set as the glow of the animation circle begins to fade. Kaik opens his eyes and waited for Maeki to pick up the book. "So what did you do?" She asks. Rather than explain he shows Maeki what he did. Kaik told the book to turn to page thirty and does so, he then tells the book he was done reading and the book closes itself. He then says turn to page twenty, but it does nothing, Kaik then says "5421...turn to page twenty" the book turns to page twenty. Maeki claps her hands in delight "Very well done! I would be honored to have you as an assistant! Can you begin working tomorrow?" Kaik smiles "Would it be okay I begin work today?" Maeki laughs and nods as she returns to her desk to finish the tea, she gestures for him to finish his tea as well. As they drink their tea Maeki explains the pay and what would be expected of Kaik, he agrees to the terms without complaint.
After finishing the tea, Kaik gets to work on some errands. The first task being to deliver some golems to an assortment of people. Maeki gives him a piece of paper detailing the delivery. The task was done in quick time due to Kaik's knowledge of the city's street plan. Upon returning to the studio a few customers had arrived. The next task was to animate a few objects for the customers. Maeki began counting the money as Kaik was left leading the two men into the actual animation studio. Kaik listens to the requests of the customers and asked one to enter the circle, as he placed the object of interes into the other. He transfers the necessary information to the object and stands in the circle himself to finish the process. The same was done for the other customer. The two leave happy with his work. Kaik stretches his arms around, unused to animating objects one after the other. Night begins to fall, signalling more work to be done. Kaik sighs and Maeki simply smiles at his plight. |

The studio was surprisingly busy, as Kaik would soon know, it is after all the only animation lab in Lhavit. When Kaik wasn't busy animating, he was working on paperwork and cleaning the place up. He was fine with doing everything except talking with customers. Kaik sweared Maeki made him talk to customers just see his reactions and not because she was too busy to talk. Usually the customer's requests were simple and easy for Kaik, but one request had to be taken care of by Maeki.
When the old man had told Kaik what he wanted, he knew this request was far too advanced for his skills. He hurried over to Maeki and told her the man's request as he waited near the entrance. He brought the man into the studio as Maeki begins preparing herself. The object the old man wanted animated was a Manikin, he had explained to Maeki that he had already installed a voice system inside it and wanted it talk. Kaik could only infer that the old man was a performer. Maeki steps in the circle, without needing to ask Kaik gives her his dagger. Blood drips from her hand unto the circle, she then closed her eyes, the circle began to gleam a bright blue. A few chimes later the old man was asked to step into the circle. Maeki transfers the choice memories to the Manikin and told him afterwords his golem would be done the next day. The man said goodbye leaving Maeki and Kaik to their work. Maeki decided to take a break asking Kaik if he'd like some tea, he accepted the offer.
In the kitchen Kaik sat at a round table looking forward to tea, the smell already making him eager for a sip. Maeki placed down two cups on the table before taking a seat. Kaik found himself talking normally to Maeki when it came to Animation, however the conversation soon shifts to him. "Enjoying the job?" She asked. "Yes" Kaik responded, he attempted to say something more but just couldn't find the right words. "Your're a very interesting person Kaik...I think some of my student's would be interested in you and your animation skills." Kaik avoided her gaze, embarrassed she was complimenting him. The very first time Kaik met her, he just couldn't help but feel nostalgic. That smile she wore cracked his apathetic facade, revealing a vulnerable side. Ater a few drinks of tea, the two returned to work. With Maeki busy on the manikin project, Kaik was forced to deal with all the leftover work. The two worked all through the night.
Kaik looked more dead than alive, while Maeki was on the ground sleeping. Kaik struggled to carry her to the beds but still managed to do it. The manikin stood still in the animation circle awaiting orders. Kaik was about to deliver the golem, but someone was knocking on the door. The old man had arrived early, the man looked keen to receive his golem. Kaik brought the golem to the man, telling him to let the golem get used to movement and to teach it anything it needed to know before doing anything else. The old man left the studio with manikin in hand satisfied with Maeki's work. From the entrance hallway stirring could be heard from the bedroom.
Maeki rubbed her eyes trying to remember what had happened. Kaik enters the room looking amused "Morning," he said, "don't worry about the manikin, the customer already came and picked it up" Maeki slowly got up from her bed and apologizes "Sorry...I didn't think it would be so busy...and it was your first day working too...you're free to leave, just come back before midnight." Kaik leaves the studio, longing to see Arya and the bed. |

Notes: Mmmm. Short and sweet thread. I can’t really say much more about it. Though there is one thing I’d like to clarify. Kaik, despite the animation progress being undetailed and short, I still gave you some xp for it, but please try to describe what you are doing as accurate and in depth as possible. It is very important when using magic (not that I am an expert in magics or so ). Otherwise: a job well done. Please edit or delete your request in the request thread. Comments, questions or concerns regarding your grade? Pm me. |
