Appearance
Race: Mixed Blood: Isur mother, Inarta father Gender: Female Age: 33 Birthday: 49 Fall 480 Birthplace: Alvadas, Kalea
Appearance: Rana's hair is bright red, typical of anyone with Inartan blood in their veins. Her eyes, on the other hand, speak of her Isurian heritage with their deep brown color in contrast with her pale skin. Though she has a purple-tinged right arm, it has none of the other qualities of an Isurian arm. She's exactly five feet tall-typical, since both of her parents are short-and she weighs in at a hundred seven pounds. Rana's build is average, leaning slightly towards the small side. Because of all her time working as a glassworker, she has strength that isn't immediately obvious at a first glance at her. When away from her hot shop, Rana loves loose and long colorful clothing. Her right arm is almost always wrapped in a colorful scarf that hides her violet arm, as she's very self-conscious about it.
Personality
A bright and colorful woman with a fashion taste to match her personality, Rana is enthusiastic about life and the people in it. She has a sense of compassion and obligation to help anyone in need and will never turn away someone going through a rough patch. Rana is highly creative and has an intense passion for glass and glassworking. Though one wouldn't expect Ranayel to be anything but a massive talker, she makes for an excellent listener. She's quick to give praise and tries to put a positive spin on most things. Unfortunately, Rana is just as quick to anger and slow to forgive. Emotions often lead her to do things in the heat of the moment which lead to deep regret. She is, unlike most of the Silverleaf family, incredibly impatient, and Rana pays immense attention to detail.
History
Pre-Creation
Before Rana herself can be discussed, one has to talk about her parents.
Lenari Silverleaf Terras was an Isurian woman who had always been looked at with scorn for practicing the art of glassworking instead of focusing her talents on blacksmithing or even the slightly less respectable but still okay metalsmithing. Her family was named Silverleaf after a blacksmith of the Terras clan pounded on a sheet of silver an astonishing twenty-seven hours with only one short break halfway through. This patience and the project to which she dedicated her time earned her tbe right to her own family name. An individual of great tolerance, passed down from her ancestors, she chose to ignore the insults from her people and continue her craft. Her breaking point came when a group of people broke into her shop and smashed every last piece on display in her store-not only did they trash the front, they also ruined the pieces she had in progress. Shortly after that, Lenari left Sultros for Wind Reach, where she worked for a glassblower. This man was Ciyat, an Inarta born and raised in Wind Reach. Though he was very timid, he was a professional in his craft-Ciyat knew glass techniques exclusive to Wind Reach. These were things that Lenari wanted very much to learn. She worked for Ciyat for several years, and gradually the two fell in love. Lenari was the one who asked Ciyat to marry her, but he enthusiastically accepted her proposal.
Following their marriage, the pair decided to travel for a time. Both Ciyat and Lenari wanted to further explore the Kalea region. They stopped briefly in Sultros, Lenari having put out of her mind the views of the Isur on those who marry outside their race. She was reminded of this when she tried to enter the city-the pair were looked at with scorn throughout the whole Isurian city. Because of this, their stay in the city of stone was short. Their next destination was Lhavit, which they both loved. In Lhavit, they stayed a full year, and Ranayel was conceived in the city of the stars. Upon leaving Lhavit, they went to Alvadas, intending to stay for another year-but during their stay in Alvadas, their daughter Ranayel was born. It seemed like a better idea to Ciyat and Lenari to stay in the city for at least a few seasons until the pair felt better about travelling with a small baby.
Alvadas drew them in, though, and they ended up moving to the city. Oops.
