AppearanceRace: Myrian
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Birthday: 12th of Spring, 494
Birthplace: Alvadas, Kalea
Appearance: By all accounts, Savos is clearly Myrian. His dark skin, shoulder length dreadlocks, and strong build are all easy indicators of that. Yet, there is something different. He does not possess any tattoos that are trademark of the Myrian race, does not wear any crude jewelry or weapons that the savage people are thought to all own. Sometimes, he'll even slouch, a trait unheard of among a race of highly trained warriors.
He usually wears a large burgundy overshirt that reaches down to his thighs. His lightweight boots are a little used, but have proved themselves sturdy over the years. Most of the time, he'll carry his art supplies and other items in his shirt pockets, but will sometimes bring a bag with him if he has too many things. He sometimes ties his hair into a loose ponytail to keep it out of his face.
Voice: Savos has a deep voice and a strong Denvali accent that can be hard to understand if speaking too quickly.
Character Concept Savos has never been to Taloba. He has never met a fellow Myrian, does not speak the language or share the culture. He instead grew up in Denval, driven out of the isolated city only during its fall in the Djed Storm. Personality wise, Savos can be very laid back and sociable, and enjoys company as long as he can be alone from time to time. He has a strong sense of empathy and therefore has more pacifist leanings than most people. He maintains an appearance of calm around people, never taking much seriously and avoiding unnecessary problems whenever possible.
This appearance of calm is not much more than an appearance. Ripped from his people as a infant, Savos has felt ostracized for his whole life and has yet to come to terms with his identity as a Myrian. Throughout his life, he has become so fearful of his own “savage” thoughts and violent nature that he represses them. These pent up insecurities often result in the occasional outburst of anger in which Savos' more aggressive tendencies are exposed.
Despite all this, Savos does find real peace when he is drawing. It is a craft he was introduced to as a child and has used ever since as a source of calm and stability. It truly is unusual to see a Myrian doodling away as Savos does.
Religion Savos has always admired Leth from afar, and since his arrival in Lhavit, he has begun to move closer to his devotion to Leth.
Though he never truly paid attention to religion and prayer, the god Leth had always appealed to him more than any. His dark and somber beginnings with the goddess Dira symbolized Savos' own struggles to become less destructive. With this connection, Savos agreed with many of Leth's introspective teachings, choosing the cultivation of mind over physical prowess.
Character History Savos' parents were a pair of traveling mercenaries around the Kalea region. They would work for caravans around the Kalea regions and return often to their home in Taloba. Savos was was born during their travels. During the small family's return to Taloba, Savos' parents were unlucky to come across a caravan of fearful merchants. Without a moment's hesitation, the merchants sicked their own mercenaries on them the moment they saw that the family was Myrian. Outnumbered, his parents were killed and the infant Savos was spared. The child was pitied for being only a baby, and he was taken along with the caravan until they sold him to a Denvali couple who could not birth children of their own.
This is how Savos ended up growing up in Denval with his adoptive parents. As a Myrian, people feared that his natural violence would emerge even without a Myrian education. He was introduced to the arts from an early age as a way to develop peaceful habits, an activity he enjoys to this day.
In his early teens, Savos experimented with weapons and the art of fighting as all Denvali children did. At first, he appreciated it as a way for him to explore the little he knew about his heritage. He was eventually reprimanded by a group of the more racist denizens of Denval who feared this development within the child. They beat him savagely and returned him home bloody, and this would not be the first time. The growing boy was often provoked into losing fights and suggested to repress his Myrian urges. His parents tried to forbid any kind of weapons or fighting training beyond Denval's mandatory militia training. Savos was forced to comply, for he loved them despite their numerous anxieties.
Savos had been starting to consider returning to Taloba and discovering his true identity when the Djed Storm hit. His parents died along with most people that he knew, and after a long, confusing journey at sea, he ended up on Lhavit's docks. He settled in the celestial city, too poor and unnerved after the frightening storm to even think about moving elsewhere, and focused on making a living there.
