As you went to the trouble of writing that post, Gossamer, I think it's only fair that I actually give some feedback.
To me, just actually reaching the target was reward enough. I know personally that I got there and that's what was important to me. If Traverse has gone to the trouble of doing medals out though then I'm not one to let her work go to waste. She certainly deserves a medal herself, and you too Goss, for managing to turn out so many words, give so much back to the site and have real life responsibilities ALL AT THE SAME TIME! I wouldn't say no to a medal anyway.
As for the name, I did say it in my head and think that it wasn't right but I just rolled with it really. The event as a whole I found to be quite good. It came at a good time for me personally because I really needed an incentive to get writing again and it definitely helped. Not only did my activity pick up but I also ended up doing a lot of reading of other people's posts. They'd post all these links to a particular thread and I just wouldn't be able to resist looking at them. It also got me thinking, how do these people write such long posts? My own writing kind of naturally lengthened as I realised what other people were just doing right. So I'd say that it was a learning experience.
With NaNo it's a site wide event and it's just so HUGE. There's always a long list of names and I never thought about looking such-and-such up and seeing what they'd written lately. So as a little side event, I thought that this was enjoyable and it just happened to come at a convenient time for me. If something like it was done again outside of November then great but if it wasn't then I can be patient for November or I can set those goals for myself personally for a month.
And I must say that Ablation did a great job running it.
