Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Joining the General Kavran

It was an ambition, a goal, that the Akalak had since he was a young fledgling and one that remained intense and strived towards up to this day...The Kuvay'Nas! He had longed to join the Riverfall Militia for many years now, and the day he would finally be accepted into on of its specialized branches was coming closer with each step he took. Today was a milestone in reaching that goal, he finally felt it was the time to join the General Kavran of the Kuvay'Nas, the volunteers of the militia. With that in mind, he left Atri's Place and walked off towards the Kuvay'Nas Lodge where he would sign up for service. In an especially good mood, he carried himself high and proud as he walked through the streets he would soon officially protect.

Once he came close to the Lodge, he started to get a bit anxious and nervous for the new experiences awaiting him and because it was a huge step for him to take, a step he waited so long for and now it was finally here, the moment of truth. With the realization that he shouldn't be afraid of this, along with the calming words of Drath, Prakash regained his composure and with newfound courage walked towards the Lodge's main door and placed the palm of his hand against the wooden symbols carved into the door before knocking on it loud and clear. After a short while the door swung open and a huge Akalak stood between Prakash and the Kuvay'Nas, imposing and inquisitive, the gargantuan Akalak seemed to be a man of few and clear words.

"Your business here?"
"I want to volunteer...For the Kuvay'Nas"

It wasn't until after he said it that it seemed so redundant and dumb to add that last part, considering he was at the militia's Headquarters, but his lips ran faster than his nervous mind. Fortunately the giant seemed to be of the kind type as he grinned broad and moved aside, telling Prakash to come in and make himself at home as he went to get the form that Prakash would have to fill in. After Prakash passed by the gentle giant, the vibrant and warm atmosphere from inside the Lodge flushed over him as he was drowned by the warm centered fireplace and the cozyness of the Lodge's main area with several Akalak occupying it. Some of them were talking near the fire, others were playing cards or dice and there was a group crowded together near some sort of bulletin board with parchments and messages pinned to it. Prakash figured that was the place to be to get an eye on the available assignments, missions and orders provided to the Kuvay'Nas.

Once the big Akalak came back and introduced himself as Rhotzual, as he handed the form and a quill to Prakash to fill in, Prakash introduced himself as well and started chit chatting with Rhotzual while filling in the document with his desired position, name, age and other basic information. Once completed he gave the document back to Rhotzual who quickly gave it a glancing read before he threw his huge arms in the air and let everyone know, with a thundering and booming voice, that they had a new comrade in arms today! The cheers, table and floorstomping were deafening and Prakash felt himself one of them instantly. With that kind of amical greeting, there was no way not to.

Joining the General Kavran

Postby Prakash on March 16th, 2014, 11:34 am

Some of the Kuvay'Nas stood up to come and greet Prakash and Drath in a more formal manner but still friendly, a few others even started to chitchat with the Akalak, asking joking questions such as what drove him to the madness of joining the Kuvay'Nas or where he hit his head as a young child. All in all, everyone seemed to be friendly and welcoming, although the Akalak did notice a small gathering of people in the farthest corner simply looking at him from a distance. When Prakash raised his hand in a greeting way, the group continued to stare at him without any response or acknowledgment of the Akalak's presence besides looking right at him. It made Prakash slightly uneasy, but the friendly nature of everyone else made him forgot about it fast enough.

The meet & greet lasted for a fair bit and he repeatedly got invited to join some of their tables, to which he always kindly but negatively responded, as to not place himself into one group from the get-go, possibly making it harder to meet others due to the nature of the unknown group. In that aspect Prakash was quite careful, he knew how fast others judged and did his best to negate that possibility as best as he could. Not that he usually walked on eggs for the sake of others, but he sometimes he did so for himself. After everyone left one after the other, after greeting him extensively, he was left with the last man standing. Rhotzual, the gigantic Akalak, possibly the largest one Prakash had ever seen, was that last man.

"Ready?"
"What?"
"Your first training spar with us! Come outside to the back, there's a training ground there that we can use, I'll wait there."

As the huge Akalak explained what was about to happen, Prakash couldn't help but feel a rock form in his throat, which he tried to swallow away while looking confused and nervous. The other Kuvay'Nas did as nothing was happening, but to Prakash it was obvious they were all aware of what was going on since not a single one of them was talking, they were all staring at something or someone, but it was deadquiet in the Lodge, almost bordering an eery silence. Prakash finally managed to overcome his slight panic attack in the face of fighting the giant, and pulled his shoulders back as he walked towards the backdoors of the Kuvay'Nas, into the training area.

"Oooohhh, you came? Atta boy, that's the spirit we're looking for! Now let me see if you got the body and skill for that spine of yours!"

The giant Akalak was still kind and speaking as if they were mates, but he was already holding a small club in his enormous right hand, and standing in the center of the training ground. Clearly ready to test Prakash to the bone! Prakash had overcome his fear though, and he showed it as he grabbed one of the wooden Lakan from one of the training weapon racks and walked into the large centered circle. The circle was dusty and sandy, possibly to lessen the amount of lingering blood spilt from training amongst the militia members. Prakash's mind started to wander until Drath nearly took over, showing Prakash he needed to keep his mind on the spar or Drath would take command forcefully from Prakash!

The young Akalak stood about 6 feet before the giant veteran Rhotzual as he spread his legs slightly and positioned them so that he had a steady foundation in case he needed to strike or dodge. His arms were tensed up and positioned so that his open left hand was slightly to the side of his wooden Lakan holding right hand, but stretched out in contrast to his bent right arm, keeping his Lakan hand near his torso. The giant Akalak grinned as if he was about to engage in a fight with a harmless victim. Prakash was getting annoyed and ready to prove to the giant he was in for a hard fought battle!

Joining the General Kavran

Postby Prakash on March 17th, 2014, 4:59 pm

As Prakash and Drath readied themselves for the battle at hand, their minds were racing full throttle as to how best proceed. Maybe they could try and land the first strike, but there was little to no doubt even the best first strike in the world wouldn't one-hit KO this foe, so there was little point to rushing into things. But waiting and letting the enemy think of strategies wasn't the best plan either, so they decided to mix things up and advance towards their enemy, inch by inch. Slowly they glided their toes and feet over the sandy soil towards Rhotzual as he simply stood there grinning, with his arms and hands to either side of his enormous body, holding the club menacingly. Getting more and more agitated, Prakash glided his front leg forwards slightly too much, a few inches too deep in the hitting radius of Rhotzual, which was a painful mistake.

With a wooshing sound, the club was swung towards Prakash' outside of his knee, and unfortunately for Prakash, Rhotzual's reactive speed was far more keen and speedy than he had ever imagined, within the blink of an eye the thicker end of the club smashed into the side of his knee. With a loud and clearly pained roar, their battle started, in the younger and smaller Akalak's disadvantage as the impact jerked his front leg sideways and caused him to fall on his back, Rhotzual didn't have that smirk on his face anymore, but was making a fast step-in towards the downed Prakash, who in a brilliant yet lucky instinctive mood, kicked out in front of him to try and make Rhotzual back off. This time Rhotzual's speed was his downfall as he had stepped in so fast, he was within striking range, even without Prakash's awareness.

With a hard hit just above the kneepcap of Rhotzual's rightleg, with Prakash's heel, he was momentarily stumped and halted in his tracks both from the minor pain as well as the shock that Prakash had been able to land a hit on him. Drath warned Prakash that eventhough it was a clean and hard hit, not a single squeek or peek came from Rhotzual, which could only mean he was able to endure a hell of alot before considering himself beaten. Fortunately suddely an enormous amount of roaring, cheering and laughter was audible from the side of the Lodge, where almost all present Kuvay'Nas were looking at the spar, some of them cheering Rhotzual on but also a few cheering for Prakash, which seemed to put a dent in Rhotzual's pride as he jerked his face back to the standing Prakash with anything but a grin on his face, this was not the kind giant anymore.

Again the giant brute charged in, this time even faster than before and before Prakash could react he was already within striking range, but he didn't strike, instead he slammed his shoulder with brutal impactforce as he leaned forward while turning his torso and rammed it in Prakash's chest, forcing him off his feet and slamming into the ground on his rear, several feet back. Both the shoulder and the ground's impact forced the air out of his lungs, making him gasp for air and roll around like a turtle on it's back. Nobody was laughing anymore, this wasn't a joke anymore, this was a battle between men!

From the corner of his eye, he saw Rhotzual pounce on him, and again instict came to Prakash and Drath's safety, although it must be said they weren't scaredy-cats. Even in the face of this imminent danger, they kept their eyes on the target and positioned their Lakan with the blunted wooden point aimed at Rhotzual's throat as they instictively protected themselves from their flattened. It was a shame, and a blessing, that Rhotzual had insane reflexes for such a giant, as he planted his palms in the sand at the last moment, keeping his throat away from the wooden Lakan's tip by a mere inch, Prakash could see the sweatdrops drip from his face and broad neck as he stared at the object that was almost slammed, or lodged, at his throat. Drath was the one urging Prakash on to continue, to use this momentum! With an upwards bent knee, Prakash and Drath slammed their leftknee hard in Rhotzual's sensitives and finally got the first squeek out of Rhotzual, as he toppled to the side wheezing and breathing heavily.

Joining the General Kavran

The inexperienced, as well as clearly still too soft and naive, Akalak let the giant brute come back to his senses after taking the hard blow to his area. While it could be said that it was a dumb move to not end it right away, it also gave Prakash and Drath time to regain their breath and shrug off some of the damage done to them earlier. Once Rhotzual was back on his feet, the 2 Akalak stared at eachother for a split moment, both with adrenaline pumping through their veins, ready for round 2. A needle could be heard dropping from the deafening silence all around them when the 2 men started to circle eachother, until a voice bellowed out from the crowd near the Lodge.

"Enough!"

The 2 Akalak turned to face the man who shouted that, although slowly and both hesitant to lose sight of the other, but still they did so. As Prakash and Drath looked at the armored and muscular man walking towards them, he felt a certain feeling of awe come from him as this man approaching them seemed to have an aura that demanded respect of those around him. First the man went to Rhotzual, placed and a large hand on the even larger shoulder and asked him if the young Akalak is a welcome sight amongst the Kuvay'Nas or not.

"The boy has the spine and brains needed, but he lacks combat skill. Which is nothing we can't solve with another few sessions like this. I got to say though, he has the instinctive reflexes of a mountain cat. Quick on his feet but even quicker are those gears in his mind."

For a moment Prakash was worried about the outcome of this spar, but it seems he had left a fairly good impression and it was a positive response. Prakash and Drath were content with the way this day had ended as the man nodded towards the young Akalak and soon after left back, entering the Lodge.
Leaving Prakash and Rhotzual behind as they grinned at eachother and went back inside before Prakash and Drath bought the gentle giant a drink to celebrate their first spar's ending and the fact that the young Akalak had succesfully joined the Kuvay'Nas General Kavran.

Because of RL issues and a lack of energy that I can devote to Mizahar, I've decided to step down as an AS. I'm sorry to leave so suddenly, but it's truly been fun while it lasted. Hopefully I can come back some day.
